TRP2 for RP

I just wanted to start a small topic about the RP add on me and my guild use. For anyone who doesn't know about it its called total RP 2 (trp2) and it is an amazing add on that can handle close to all your RP needs/wants.

Now i have heard/seen a few people running around with mrp, now if i recall mrp and trp KINDA work together with trp2 in the fact if you have mrp you can see a TINY snip-it of the trp2 display info

here is a SS of my UI with some of the trp2 features and what they display as.

http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb378/ember_shade/misc%20stuff/trp2.jpg

Here are some of the features i LOVE about trp2 and would like to share with everyone who doesn't already know about the add on.

Allows you to read tooltips with custom text in a IC and an OOC spot. Amazing to put information you want people to see about your toon with out you having to emote it every time someone walks up to you.

buffs and debuffs you create (called states)

create your own items that are trade able to other people with trp2 ( items can be very VERY detailed and have things like uses, reagents, be containers that can be opened and have other things inside them, start quests, and be quest items. or can be very basic and just display some text )

Stashes are allowed in non phased areas, it allows you to pick an area, create a stash, name it, and it will have 4 'bag slots' where you can place trp2 items. Other people with trp2 can go to these stashes open them, and remove items, or add items. They can be public (appear on the world map) or private (will not show on the map) and you can add names so only certain people can access it.

Create custom quests! yup by far my fav feature, with trp2 it allows everyone to script and create trp2 quests. It will make NPCs interactive and speak with you, can require you to go kill mobs, find trp2 items, go to certain locations, get things from stashes. It is a very amazing feature for smaller guilds like mine. people need to have trp2 in order to make, or accept trp2 quests.

there are plenty more features but it really is an amazing and very in depth add on that i LOVE for RP and defiantly worth looking at if you haven't already.

I would also be MORE then happy to help explain any feature of the add on i can to anyone interested in using it. Just whisper me in game.

The add on can be downloaded from curse.

Question!
Is TRP2 being supported again?
(if its not) How is it holding up with all the new expansions?

I use to swear by TRP2 when I first started to RP. Not long afterward the ones handling the addon decided to stop their support. I think it was picked up by someone else but I haven't really been following it since. I swapped over to MRP only because it was more streamlined and held many of the same basic functions as TRP2. Granted I can't see so much on the tool tip, but if what I did see interested me I could always dig a little deeper into their profile.

I do have to say though, I really miss their states. I really liked that I could pop up a buff/state that could convey at a glance how my character was feeling. Cail loved mead and cheese in the beginning, so he always smelt like booze and cheese... and smoke. He loved his pipe. I also loved that whenever I dropped into a body of water I would gain the "Soaked" state, which would stick with you for a bit until you either clicked it off or "naturally" dried. Oh! and I also miss being able to name my mounts. I was ecstatic when Blizz finally let us name our pets in MOP... but I still would like to name my mount :)

... now I want to reinstall TRP2...

I stick to MRP myself, since I was introduced to it when I first came here a couple years back. Simplicity is strength, IMHO.

It did get picked back up! and i still swear by it . i like how you have the IC info and OOC info on the tool tip so any information that people would see if they just walks by/look at your toon can be seen with out having to emote it every time someone walks by. I love making trp2 items as well, and the fact the items can have all sorts of features with them like having the item be usable, or needing an item to work (like a box that needs a key before you can open it)

I like simplistic things too but the features trp2 has i think adds much more depth to RP and helps make it way more detailed. Like back on my old realm i had a trp2 quest everyone had to do to join my guild.

It started by the person overhearing whispering about the guild, then you had to under go this IC quest that had you talk to various NPCs around SW who would give you a lil more IC info about the kinship, or request you do some task for them in order to give you info. and it ended at finding Rasmira in a tavern where you then had enough IC info to ask to join the kinship.

I fully plan on making another trp2 quest that new members will have to go through to join the guild, it was always a hit.

I prefer MRP, and the FlagRSP mods before that, because all of the extra things just seem unnecessary. I don't need to make up items or quests or stashes or anything. I don't want to know your character's history.

All I want to know is what I would see when I look at your character. What do they look like? How do they carry themselves? How do I think they're feeling?

...and I do agree with the points made about clutter. If they're features that you're just not using, no matter how fantastic they are these features are only in the way. That is one thing I really appreciate however, that those who built these addons had enough foresight (or whatever) to make them compatible on some level.

One of TPR2's redeeming features for me (among so many others) is that you can still read MRP and Flag profiles without the need of having them installed. Likewise MRP (and I assume Flag, but idk for certain) can still read most of TRP2's info... so in this sense it doesn't divide an RP community. I think that's awesome.

Keeping on the point of Rasmira's thread: TRP2 is a great RP addon and should never be overlooked.

The quest building and item creation features are wonderful tools for storytellers, and as such my mind exploded when I discovered them. The possibilities are almost endless. No longer do I have to sit and emote, I can create it and pass along something "tangible" to another player. I don't have to emote "Cail hands over a small bag of coin to pay for his drink." and then pretend or assume that it happened. I can actually hand over a [Small Bag of Coin].

::Mind Blown::

What if this person is actually a spy posing as a Bartender? What if I want to contain a secret message within the small bag of coin? I don't have to whisper all of this to him, I can just hand over a [Small Bag of Coin] and wait until he right clicks it to discover the note it just generated as loot inside his pack. If we both have TRP2 this could happen.

::Mind Blown::

Perhaps I've created a guild RP storyline in which someone discovers an item... lets say a ring as cliche as it sounds. I don't have to type out physical descriptions in whispers, or discuss OOC in /party the attributes of this ring and why its important; instead I can hand over a created item, complete with tool tips and stats with flavor texts, along with a small OOC note attached that will take care of that for me. What's more!... I can leave this created item inside a stache for you (the player) to discover. How neat is that!

::Gray Matter Rains from the Heavens::

Used properly and to its fullest capabilities these features can keep a story flowing, make the experience more interesting and fluid for the players, and limit my overall involvement as the "DM" which allows the spotlight to shine longer on other players.

TL:DR next post...

TL:DR for above :P

TRP2 really shines when you have a group of people actively utilizing its features. I applaud Rasmira for taking up that command and employing it. I am certain that her and her guild's RP is made richer for it.

I just made this thread to show people a really nice RP add on, sure it isn't for everyone and i am sure plenty of people wont use it, and will continue to use other ones which is fine, its all about what works for YOU. But it really does have allot of amazing features that i felt some RPers may be interested in.

and the information it displays is all custom, so it can be as vague, or as detailed as you like. So it doesn't mean anyone who uses it will display their characters whole history i don't agree with that personally, i think the fun part is RPing with someone and learning the history. However it is nice to have some basic stuff known right off the bat with out having to interact because it may tell you "yes i def. want to Rp with this person, or oh wow no way i don't want to RP with this person)

and i am sorry making items doesnt seem unnecessary to me(but thats just my opinion) , it seems like a very useful thing for anyone who RPs. So many times i've found a neat item in wow but i couldn't give it as a gift because it was soul bound, or i just felt "hey it would be awesome if they have this" with making items, you can make that.

no add ons or anything are NEEDED you can absolutely rp and have fun with out but i just wanted to put trp2 out there in case anyone else wanted to give it a shot.
