That out of the way, the best advice I can give you is to /join AllianceOOC
Typing in that slash command in your chat window will link you up with the Alliance OOC chat channel and from there you can meet all of the wonderful RPers and start to get a feel for what seems like home to you.

You can also poke around cenarion-circle.org and browse character profiles and stories and see if there's something/someone there who'd be interested in meeting in game. But like Zeph says, AllianceOOC is a great start, and if you'er inclined to roll Horde there is also /HordeOOC.
Horde is an unacceptable choice. Do not fall for the lies. The Orcs are destroying this and every world they touch with reckless negligence and abandon. And the Forsaken cannot be stopped if shown mercy. They do not stop short of victory. Look at the ruins of Gilneas and Southshore if you are inclined to disagree. Perhaps the elves could be reintroduced into society if they were not treacherous cretins. The Tauren are nice enough. More neutral than not, but the Trolls... we will have to see what Vol'jin becomes.
Nah I'm just kidding. Horde side could use some love. They get lonely and try to visit us in Stormwind often. It goes horrible for them.

Welcome, Arianna Rose, to WoW! Of all the RP realms, and with a smidge of bias, I must congratulate you on choosing this one. CC has a wonderful community of active RPers and RP guilds (groups of players united under the same cause). There's never really a shortage of people online and they're quite helpful. Just watch out for that Panda guy. He's huge.
Not only that, but CC features weekly events hosted by the various guilds. It's a great way to meet new people and get familiar with guilds and their purposes. These usually run on weekdays between 5 and 7pm Realm Time.
If you ever need any help, feel free to ask! And if you're looking for the perfect guild, ask for Rhudran! He's the Keeper of the Macro. You'll see.
