So the pre-launch event for WoD has been... underwhelming. But we can make this what we want it to be.

So I'm proposing... a PvP free-for-all at the Dark Portal. Alliance and Horde... just going at it. Wear the gear you'll start replacing the day after. PvP or PvE gear, doesn't matter. Just come ready to fight.

Yup, we'll have to wipe out the Iron Horde NPCs/mobs there too. They'll be going after everyone.

Rules are simple:

1) Don't be a jerk. No /spit or /rude emotes, !@#$%^-*!@, etc.
2) Don't camp. Once someone goes down, move on to someone else.
3) Don't force people to participate. If you see someone starting to hearth or mount up to fly away, let 'em go.
4) Stay on the ground. The point is to fight, not park yourself on top of the Dark Portal and snipe people. Fly in if you want, but stay grounded once you're there. Even better: use the Stormwind/Orgrimmar portals to get you out there.
5) Flag up beforehand. No one appreciates being blueflagged.

I'll be cross-posting this to the Sisters of Elune forums. Post here if you'd like, or if you have fun ideas to add on to things. Let's have the event go from 7:00pm-9:00pm realm time, then let's head into Dalaran into the neutral inn where we hosted the first SoE/CC gathering after our realms were connected, and let's clap our Horde and Alliance friends on the back, share some drinks, dance, be silly, use party toys, etc., and enjoy a fun, relaxed night before we all lay siege to Draenor.

Also, that obfuscated word up there is what happens when you take a bag, and dip it repeatedly in water to make tea. ;)

No brewing? That's rather mean to the dwarves and pandaren. I mean, who's going to provide food and drink?

Hard to swing a hammer or use demonic magic if you're stuck in the outhouse from bad clams, y'know.

Why do I get the feeling the Horde will be outnumbered at this :-/

I'll try to spread the word around when I'm on later. Sadly I don't think I'll be able to make it since I have a raid scheduled tonight but we'll see.

Mormel, it's my hope there's a good representation for both factions at the event (short notice though it is). It's meant to be fun. I, personally, suck at PvP, so I expect to get killed... repeatedly. Probably by a Monk. :D

Just an opportunity for folks to have fun and relax. I hope as many show up in Dalaran afterwards as show up to fight with each other. Then I figure those who are going to be playing at midnight will hearth back to the city of their choice an hour or so beforehand, get last-minute stuff taken care of, then zerg the Dark Portal once the initial quest shows up in their log.

The Iron Horde won't know what hit 'em, but we will... it's a great chance to draw our community together. I encourage people to put the word out in Trade as well; I imagine some not-so-nice people will show up, but that's probably unavoidable. :)

Why don't we RPers ever chat on a voice software...?
Also, if too many Alliance show up.

DUELING SENSATIONS.

Weee have found a flaw in this. The portal atleast is phased faction wise, least it was as of last night.

Grf. If this winds up being the case, let's try two things:

1) Back up just outside the small valley that enters down into the pit where the Dark Portal is.
2) Go talk to Chromie towards the entrance of the Blasted Lands, and ask her to show you the "Blasted Lands of the past". This removes the phasing for the pre-launch event, and returns it to its standard leveling zone version. It'll mean we're fighting in front of a green Dark Portal, but I think we can still have fun.

IF neither winds up working... we re-congregate in Stranglethorn at Gurubashi Arena. EVERYONE can smack on each other there, regardless of faction, though I still think it's more fun to make this a faction war. ;)

I mean, you can go talk to Khromie about it, but if you look off to the West of the path on a hill, there's a bronze dragon disguised as a Human woman who will do it for you.

My sincerest apologies to anyone who attempted to attend this event; a combination of poor planning on my part and the hijacking of the event by others made for a CF. I didn't check beforehand and find out that there was faction-specific phasing in place in Blasted Lands. As noted above in my third option, we could have moved it to Gurubashi Arena, but it appears Bluenites already chose to do so... and start the event 2 hours early 'cause... reasons?

So I again offer apologies to anyone who wanted to attend this event, but was unable to. I hope folks are enjoying Draenor, and I'll see you all there this evening.
