THE BLACKWALD SYNDICATE
Blackwald: The Black Forest of Gilneas. Syndicate: A self-organizing group of individuals and other entities formed to transact some specific business/goals.
Gilneas was a small and compact land. The wall that separated it from the rest of the world was a living analogy for life behind it: divided. On the backs of the poor and powerless were the nobility, whom acted as all authority figures do -- with impunity and no regard for the people they crush under boot. Corruption ran rampant, and the city belonged to the few.
The creation of the Blackwald Syndicate, named for the Black Forest of Gilneas, seemed to form itself over time; it acted as a current of backlash against the tide of cronyism that crashed over the nation of Gilneas with the construction of the wall. Its stated goals were the upheaval of corruption through use of blackmail, bribery, and other assorted shadowcraft, as the rule of law had failed the people.. and anarchy simply seemed too crude and unrealistic a goal.
With a strong start, the Blackwald made massive strides against the elite and the nobility, its branches creeping through the cracks of society at many angles -- every blacksmith that had been short-ordered, every craftsman that had a guild shut down, every fisherman whose boat was destroyed, contained ire for the crown of Gilneas and the Royal Guards under their thumb.
But most good things come to an end, and the burdened peasantry were left unsatisfied as the Lords and Ladies wisened up to their actions, throwing out or even executing those found to collaborate with the terrorists.
After that point, when the syndicate was at its lowest, a young Gilnean woman rose through the ranks of the group with unnerving speed, earning the nickname Fauxpaw for her ability to break barriers that others would never consider. She had managed to wrest control of the Blackwald in seemingly no time at all with a personal retinue of dedicated Enforcers, true believers of her vision and purpose.
Eventually, a well-oiled machine had been crafted. The Syndicate was restructured to cast a wider net, weaseling agents into the upper echelons of society once again.. even reaching the house of Greymane itself. In doing so, Fauxpaw had created a tenuous balance between the Lords and the Lordless by learning of their darkest secrets and squeezing them for every gold possible, redistributing it to the Blackwald and its agents.. with a healthy cut for her war chest.
Now, Fauxpaw seeks a rebirth of the syndicate, with a more modern twist. The worgen spies the same corruptive influence of unchecked authority in the Alliance, as the lower class brunts the burden of war in Draenor, leaving only rats behind to prey on the weak. And she means to remedy it, by using the Blackwald as a private investigative and enforcement agency with the help of a newly acquired mercenary company.

The Blackwald Syndicate is an Alliance "RP first"* guild on Wyrmrest Accord, accepting associates and informants to join in on its spy network, with a theme of keeping corruption and authority in check through the use of shadowcraft. On the surface, we are a corp of mercenaries that work in concordance with the Alliance and her motives, but underneath is a group of dedicated agents that maintain a network of contacts, keeping an eye and ear on the movements of others, in addition to taking on contracts with clients.
*RP first means roleplaying related goals and events come first. As members are recruited, PVE/PVP may be accomplished if members show interest in it.
Even though we carry the title of ‘Syndicate’, the Blackwald is not an evil organization. If you plan on joining to murder, pillage, and other unsavoury things, your character should turn elsewhere. If, however, you have a character interested in getting things done for the greater good, even with grey-territory methods, then the Blackwald is for you. There is a place for all classes in our guild, and we focus on creating intrigue both inside the Syndicate, and with other groups.

It’s a little outdated, unfortunately, as we changed a good deal about our guild when we switched servers from Ravenholdt-TwistingNether this month. We’re workin’ on it, but it’s still fairly accurate.
