World of Warcraft®

So, I had a story all set for this summer's play, and then I saw a delightful parody of Game of Thrones done by Sesame Street. Which, of course, got me thinking...

What if this year's play was a parody of Game of Thrones.

I've read all the books; the problem is the million storylines and bajillion characters.

So, I guess what I'm asking is, if I were to do a GoT adaptation, what story/stories should I include in the plot? Remember that these plays aren't extensive...you can read last year's play at the dotOrg...somewhere in there, yeah.

Also keep in mind it'll most likely be Horde casting, since cross-faction language distribution would make a combined production a problem...

I am one of those people who have never watched anything beyond the first episode of GoT, nor have I read any of the books.

So I'm afraid I have nothing to say except that any parody would be completely lost on me, so please don't make it dependent on understanding the in jokes.

Of course not! People who don't know it should still enjoy the performance...at least, that would be my goal. I mean, heck, it's still gonna be in iambic pentameter...

Well, what about making a tragedy? Focus on season one, and events surrounding Robert's death and Ned's beheading?

Ned's beheading? That wasn't a tragedy, it was a certainty. Even if you hadn't read the books, anyone who had an idea of Sean Bean's track record knew he'd be dead before the end of season 1.

Be that as it may, it's a tragedy by definition as none of the "good" guys win.

I will also say that focusing on season/book one might be a good idea. I always thought it was the best anyway :P And most people who probably be vaguely familiar with it because internet.
