Alliance BG Teams?

Hi. I'm "out of the loop," assuming there is a loop. Elgunaz's posts about a horde loop makes me wonder if there are Alliance loops.

By "loop" I mean, like, a community of people who get together to form rated BG teams.

Do those exist? If so, I'd like to know about them.

I'm super duper good at carrying things like flags . . . and teams. You probably want me in your loop/on your team, if you play at the right times.

Hi! I would like to know if there is such a loop as well. Because I'd like to heal people who smash things and then get rated for it.

I'm not super duper, but I will heal those that are super duper, and I have earth shield. And some totems that do cool things.

I know a couple other people who like smashing things. Particularly people carrying flags. They have even been known to do things like deathgrip people away from our flag carrier too.

So maybe we could get in the loop or on a team? If the whole space goat thing is too awkward, I also have a druid to rejuvenate you.

I'm awful at PvP but I would looooooooove to learn it if there's a BG team being put together that could help with that.

Ditto. I have a PvP set (I need to grind some more Honor Points to fill it out though) and spec, and have been trying RBGs, but it's been a mixed bag so far. Sometimes I'm better than decent, sometimes I stink up the entire team.

Since I am specifically mentioned in the thread, allow me to say a few words. I accidentally stumbled upon a bunch of guys doing rated BGs when one of my friends and arena partners, who was playing on the team at the time, asked me if I wanted to go since they're short a DPS. We played a few rounds and did pretty well, and I got hooked. Since then I spent about a week bouncing between various groups, until all of a sudden they all just died. At that point my rating was about 1000, and I was choked because I was so close to a title. So I took matters into my own hands and formed my own group. The first few days was rough, and I had to ask trade frequently (which conventional wisdom tells you is a big no-no, but I am here to tell you otherwise). To my surprise I actually got a pretty solid group going, and all sorts of excellent PvPers came out of the wood work, including an ex-alliance rank 13 who rerolled Horde because he was tired of not enough PvP on alliance side (Matok/Symbul), and many other players I haven't played with since vanilla. I even got a few 2k rated players to join just from trade chat PUGing.

About two weeks of doing that I had a solid group going, a good 50 people. Word of mouth soon spread, and I got to a point where I could dependably get a group together every night. I didn't always get the best people but I always got a chance to play. In the end I won more games than I lost, and got up to 1800 rating in only 4 weeks.

So to all of you wanting to play RBGs in this thread, here is my advice in point form:

- Just start a group. Ask your friends, get the ball rolling... and ask trade for people. Insist on gear and some minimal PvP experience, but don't be stingy. That 'scrub' warrior in mediocre gear could might well be an ex-rank 14 from back in the day on a different toon. Give people a try

- Keep it consistent. Send calendar invites at a consistent time, say MWF at 6:30. Once people start to know that you'll have a group going, they will attend whenever they can and before you know it you got a solid group of regulars.

- Use word of mouth. Ask people to ask their friends and guildies to join up. Again, give people a chance. You won't always group with 9 others who will be gladiators this season, doesn't mean you won't have a good time. It's better to play consistently and regularly then to bank on an all-star team. Indeed playing with non-all-star teams makes those great teams feel even better. Also, you won't know who your all-stars are until you played with them.

Anyway, I hope that you guys get the ball rolling because I would like to see alliance PvP revitalized as well. I still remember facing the old 'helmet team' back in vanilla and those were great memories. Best of luck to you and feel free to give me a shout if you want some more advise.

Elgunaz,

Thanks for posting that. I think too many times people are afraid to try them because they aren't good at pvp even though they want to be. That's my story.

I want to get a consistent group going and that doesn't mean we have to limit it to Pia people, it's just a guild bg group with friends.

Yup, can't be afraid to lose. The way that RBGs are designed means that you are granted a lot of leniency with losing, so don't be afraid! That noob that you brought along may well be a gladiator three seasons later, so educate and not discard!

PvP? <perk>

I'd also like to get in the loop. Perhaps there's enough people in this thread to get something going?

Que the "Eye of the Tiger" music! I also want to make it a personal goal to be a great pvper! I am currently in training of sorts and appreciate all the encouragement I can get.

So, I should have a nemesis of some kind to look forward to trouncing.....hmmmm....I think I will start with knocking down one at a time, I will set my goal to start with to beating ......Paden!!

If you read this Paden....nothing personal....you are just a grouchy death knight and I want to earn some respect...in the LO of course!

Someday....maybe.....Cyrus! Again, nothing personal, just setting a goal....yes I know...impossible dream...yada yada...

There are definitely enough people in this thread to build a group. Go and do it! :)

Count me in, I'm not a great PvPer, but i'm learning everyday doing Regulars, i find myself straying off from the group(s) by myself to make it a bit more challenging (more pressure to have to Fend for myself) and even starting to take on bigger threats (not so much Picking and choosing lowbie targets as i am just narrowing it down between Healers and BigOMGWHATHITME trucks..)
I may even have a couple Guildies who would be Willing to Participate (say, 5 at the most)

and i love smashing things..

Feel free to add me in, though one of the issues I come across always is the time. When do you guys normally do it? around 5ish ST?
