Cray shifted his weight from one foot to the other, hand resting lightly on his sword as he stood watch in the night.
He had reassured Taelanas that this was not a mistake last night, as things seemed to go.... poorly. They did not see eye to eye on how best to secure a peace with the Ishnu Por Ah. Taelanas seemed to see them as being peaceful beings. Cray saw them, and all other Tauren, as beings who had given up peace for the might of the Horde.
And yet, Cray had done his best to reassure his friend and fellow Guard. He wished, however, he felt any confidence that this would work. First that crude Blood Elf had attempted to chase them off. They stood their ground as the AAMS translated his spiteful words, and his refusal to identify himself, his position, or his organization. And the Holy Guard did not attack, even when the Blood Elf seemed to want to fight.... even though Cray really wanted to, at the very least, break his jaw and that the AAMS translators felt threatened enough to leave.
Then came Nahrem, of Da Doctas with more AAMS translators. This conversation had been more pleasant, and the Tauren had agreed to permit the representatives of Pia Presidium to stay in Mulgore so long as it was far away from any settlements, or the Da Doctas' Mulgore campus at Red Rock. Though no one in the Pia Presidium envoy seemed to know where Red Rock was specifically, Cray noted that the presence of red rocks would probably give it away.
They had adjourned to this cave for the night following Nahrem's departure. And here, Cray sat. Why was the Ishnu Por Ah so reluctant to speak with the Holy Guard? After all, the mission here was to mend the wounds caused by the cows when they captured Faithe. And when they had lost Faithe and failed to recover her.
Now they refused to answer Taelanas' letter, which had requested this meeting. No one from the Ishnu Por Ah had come to speak with the Holy Guard when it was requested, when the Holy Guard came to Mulgore for this purpose.
Yes, the AAMS had managed to get a meeting scheduled for the next day... but mostly Cray feared it was giving the Ishnu Por Ah opportunity to plan an ambush or prepare themselves for four new captives. After all, negotiating peace can only happen when both parties want peace.
Glancing down at his companions, he sighed. Taelanas and Ulthryn, asleep. Neither seemed to be sleeping well, but then.... they were on the stone floor of a cave in enemy territory. Cray had not slept well either. Kixek still examined some paper or another, perhaps a map? This was her first mission with the Holy Guard... he prayed it would not be her last.
((If I were less wordy, this post would have said "Cray was standing in a cave in Mulgore. He was worried." :P))
