"I'm not really good at planning parties," Gentyl said.
Her squires laughed and continued working on the barding that had been badly torn during the last tournament. "Stop fretting about it and just hire someone," Mira said.
Meriste nodded. "What about Kix? She's a wonderful baker."
Gentyl nodded and picked up another of Valor's hooves to clean. "You know, if you'd stop standing around in the water hole, this would be a lot less messy." The horse sighed as if he understood the complaint she had leveled at him on almost a weekly basis. In truth the water kept his feet in better shape than Traveler's, but it still made for a dirty chore.
"I can help cook," Gentyl said.
"Please, Sepha, no," the squires said in unison. "Your husband won't even eat your cooking."
"Only because that darned ship's cook is always stuffing him full and he isn't hungry."
"If you say so, Sepha," Mira said. "Still, we can have Kix cook and the other ladies will help."
"Maybe we can hire Cup, too. She loves to plan parties." Gentyl set the hoof down and straightened to stretch her back.
((As most of you know, Gentyl and Commander Turncutt were married not long ago. We decided to be married on a ship, by a ship's captain since the sea is the Commander's first love. Since the wedding was private, we're going to have an open reception to invite all of our friends to celebrate with us. This will probably be next Sunday evening, but it isn't confirmed. I also haven't chosen a place yet, but I'm leaning toward the Argent Tournament Grounds. Also, I'd like to hire several people to act as servers. We will furnish the tuxedos which are yours to keep and pay a fee for serving.))
