The battle had been hard fought, but the horde attackers retreated at last. Commander Turncutt and Gentyl sat on a small hummock watching the alliance soldiers returning to their homes. They streamed by; alone, sometimes in small, laughing groups and the occasional knot of boisterous soldiers happy with a victory until the numbers slowed to a trickle. Still the couple waited, as was their habit.
Turncutt pulled out his whiskey skin and passed it to her.
"You know me well, Commander." Gentyl unstoppered the flask and took a healthy draught, the liquid burning its way down to her stomach. She took another sip and passed it back.
"Well enough, mi'lady" he replied to his wife and winked.
"The Regent thinks I could have done better. He rather deplores me drinking whiskey instead of fine elven wine as a lady ought."
Turncutt lowered the skin and replaced it in his bag. "Bah! The imp is short, but I can make him shorter if he decides to meddle in my affairs."
Gentyl laughed. The rivalry between Turncutt and the Regent Tenwit, as the gnome had started calling himself since Turncutt left to join Pia and made the imp the leader of the Tenth, had deepened of late. Tenwit demanded Gentyl return Turncutt and Fallenrose to the Tenth where he might unleash them on the horde unfettered. In truth, with few reservations, that is what Gentyl had been toying with. Meshka's thinly veiled threat to Faithe had been the catalyst to move the plan forward.
Dove,
I miss you and want you to come home.
Affectionately,
M.
She tried to tell herself it was a joke at first, but Meshka was the only one who called Faithe Dove. It was from him and it was a clear message, he was going to get her back.
They were going to start sending a raiding party out to find the accursed goblin since the small scouting forays had turned up nothing. He traveled with impunity from one spot to another as he looked after his various businesses, sure that his guards kept him safe, but Gentyl's people were always just behind him. This time Gentyl was going to strike before the goblin had a chance to slip away.
"If we move forward with the plan, there's a chance the horde will strike back at some of our towns. It means we are going to have to jump to defend. Of course, horde have already been attacking, so I'm not sure it will be much different. I found one wearing the Malicious Intent tabard attacking Goldshire a few days ago."
Turncutt nodded. "We need action reports. Anyone who engages in needs to write up a report. We'll keep tabs on the skirmishes, both to find Meshka and defense. We also need to post a wanted list. That damnable Rotoblade needs to be on it."
Gentyl would have nodded, but a rogue had slipped up their little hill and knocked her in the head. Turncutt frowned when she didn't respond then vaulted off his horse to defend her. She shook off the sap and joined her husband in the fray. The rogue was formidable, but they downed him after a lively dance.
Turncutt wiped off his sword. "Can't abide rudeness. Knocking a lady on the head without so much as a by your leave?"
((So, here's the deal. World rp/pvp has been a bit slow. Pia is going to step up the action by "searching" horde towns for the goblin Meshka. Defense would be lovely if any horde want to come out and play. We're also going to be posting a horde wanted list. We'll just be pulling some names to begin with, but the wanted list will change according to horde we encounter in either offense or defense. The more we see someone, the more "marks" they get, putting them on the list." Earning their way to the top of the wanted list will earn a gold reward from Meshka.
This thread is where we will be posting the action reports.))
