How is the server community here?

Long story short, some friends of mine are looking for a good server community, friendly, wanting to just play the game and have fun and not be total jerkwads. Unfortunately its hard to find on WoW, we've been told this is a great server with fantastic people, was wondering if anyone could chime in?

We've also been told that Wyrmrest Accord and Moon Guard are nice servers.

It's all true, but each RP server appeals to a different kind of community. I like it here, though.

Every guild recruit I see these days says "tight-knit community" and/or "laid-back casual". In particular, I'm sick of seeing "tight-knit community". Tight-knit means they have their own clique of people they hang with, and if you're not similar to them in any way, then you will be treated as an outcast.

Tight-knit: Have known each other a long time on the server, always hang out together. Sure, they'll be nice and polite to newcomers, but you'll never actually be part of their "tight-knit community". There are a couple of hardcore guilds, several average progression guilds and TONS of social/casual/laid-back guilds.

As with any server in WoW, there is always a few jerkwads that like to sit in city and spam trade with useless nonsense.

My advice to you is this: start a lowbie toon, browse the guilds and start asking questions. If you find a number of guilds that offer what you're looking for, join on a trial basis. See how members interact with each other daily. It should take barely a week for you to see how active they are, who the cliquey members are, who the attention-hog is, etc.

I've been on this server for 2 years. I have yet to find a guild that does not have a clique, that does not have at least one oober-popular attention-hog, and most everything done guild-wise is decided by the 'clique', and not the GM.

My experience with this server, as a whole, has been positive. I've made friends here and brought over friends of my own from other servers. I do truly believe that there is something here for everyone. I'm very happy that I made the decision to move here.

When I was in high school, one of my teachers used to say, "This school would be perfect, if not for all the people." Cenarion Circle is wonderful, but it is not perfect. There is no such thing as a "perfect" server, because the players that inhabit the game are not perfect themselves - what determines how much fun you have is your attitude.

Just as with any other social interaction, you will have ups and downs. There will be someone who doesn't like you and the things you do, but that shouldn't stop you from finding like-minded people and having fun.

I encourage you to make a trial character here and to get your feet wet. Look at things in a positive light, and I'm sure you will find, like I have, that Cenarion Circle is a wonderful place to call home.

I would echo Meriste's comments. I joined this server the day the game launched with some buddies from college. Overall I've had an amazingly positive experience on this server. Yes, there's always the 10-20% of any population that for whatever reason you're just not going to get along with, just do yourself a favor, shrug it off an move on.

I'll say thou, 6ish+years here and I've never seriously played a toon on any other server. CC's got a little of everything so, stay awhile and listen!

Best of luck finding a new home and if it's here, welcome!

People come, people go, the RP has its ups and downs.

However, like any community, the people are the key. Come and help us grow bigger and shinier than ever before. :)

I'm not really involved in the RP community anymore, but if you ever see me, feel free to give me a poke*. :) There are plenty of other nice people around too. At any rate, I wish you luck finding a home -- mine is here, and it means a lot to me. :)

I think the best way to find out if you would like it here is to roll your trial character. Join allianceooc or hordeooc to get to know people. There are also ic channels Horde and allianceic. Hang out a bit.

Every other Monday is Troubadour Night Alliance side. We just had one last night. Caer Darrow Project is a cross faction event at Caer Darrow with translators. People will help you get there if you're too low. Thursday is Feathers Inn at Booty Bay. Events are usually broadcast in Allianceooc and they are open to all.

Poke me or any other Pia member and we'll give you our chat channel so you have people to visit with while you get a feel for the server. Also, we'll send you a welcome to CC care package.

Drop in at the Blue Recluse. There's usually someone there.

This server has a mature base of players. Due to the low population, raiding activitiy in trade channel is quieter than most servers for forming pugs. Guilds are also experiencing high atrophy.

Generally speaking it's a great server for RP and questing. Not ideal if you want to have raiding success or join a pick up for a casual run etc.

Most of what I can say has been said before, so I'll just say this:

Come to the dark side, we has cookies. And you will...never...be...the same again! MUHAHAHA!

I mean, er, yeah. Stay a while, and try the rum!

I think Amaelalin raises a good point. Roll on CC and get a cupcake!

I don't think the population is so bad. Alliance side seems to peak at about 1300 players online simultaneously.

I wouldn't dispute that raid activity is low compared to other realms.

The question is will we still be looking for our casual pug raids in Trade come the new LookingForRaid tool in a future patch?

Keep in mind I'm not advocating it's use - there's something to be said about joining a raid guild to, well, raid. But if you're pugging in Trade, I don't see what difference or harm using LFR instead would be. Groups will certainly form faster, that's for sure. So a quiet Trade shouldn't be a huge deal. (In my experience, it's still decently busy. It's just not Faster Than Light like a high pop/full server.)

Cenarion Circle is an RP Realm. To whit, join an RP server for RP and its community. Join a guild if you want to raid, there are fewer than on PVE servers but they still exist and still progress. Lastly, use the upcoming LFR (when it's released) if you want pug raids.

My experiences on Cenarion Circle have only been positive so far. Far fewer ignorant fratboys (that seem to plague PVE servers) and a greater attention to etiquette and familiarity.

@ Caska: I apologize for the random @ posting to you, but your name struck me as familiar. There's a host of other people named Caska in the game for sure, but I figured I had to ask. Did you ever play on thorium brotherhood in a guild named Onslaught at one point?

If not, I'm really sorry. It's just I was in that guild and our MT had the name Caska as well, so seeing it again brought back some interesting memories of a dude named Mourne doing murloc noises in vent.
