City Life


Fog muffles the sound
Of the night-time harbor bells.
Midnight in Stormwind.

Lone rogue walks alone,
Silent but for footfalls soft.
Your coin is now hers.

"Guards!" goes up the cry,
As the thievery is found.
But she is long gone.

Posters dot the town,
Rough sketch of feminine face.
Looks just like your aunt.

Weeks pass, posters fall.
Other crimes take precedence.
Even you forget.

Then one night, in fall,
The fog falls heavily down.
Your coin is gone again.

(Outstanding, all - Emilea, really like your City Life one. Here's my attempt at a similar story-haiku based on my toon.)

Verdant leaves tumble,
One by one they disappear,
Falling, gray, to ground.

Their color fades now;
The leaves shed blood and water.
Retreat, you mem'ries.

Regret is gone now;
Once the time was right for peace,
And the branches strong.

The last leaf, she falls! -
Finite, fading foliage
Lost on red-soaked grounds.

With the leaf, it died,
The tree wither'd to cold steel,
Its face hides away.

O, trunk once raised high,
Temper'd by ashes and blood,
Be my shield and axe.
