Hello my lovelies :)
It is that time of the year again! Time to do your good Christmas deed and spare 20 minutes to scientific pursuits!
I know that last time I promised you guys a discussion of my results so far, and I am here to deliver just that!
Last you heard from me I was investigating the relationship between sociability and online games. There has been much debate about sociability and those who play online games. Gamers (and online gamers in particular) are characterized as socially inept outcasts who would like nothing more than to stay in their room and play video games. As an online gamer myself (more so 'before' I had to dedicate my life to science..), I am particularly disturbed by this assumption and have made it the goal of my PhD to investigate the relationship between sociability and gaming.
The current research in this area is mixed. Some researchers argue gaming is positively related to sociability whereas others have found a negative relationship. I have attempted to shed light on this debate but in the course of doing so I have also come up with two completely conflicting results. First set found a negative relationship between gaming and sociability whereas the second study found a positive relationship. So I have been locked in a room, sadly not with video games..but with statistical programs trying to really figure out what is happening here.
My supervisor and I have embarked on a final attempt to unravel this debate. Once again I am asking for your help! However, there is a difference this time.... through a bit of crafty haggling I am able to offer prizes!
At the end of the survey there is a box in which you can put your email address. Those who fill out this field will be entered into a prize draw to win a free Steam game of their choice (value up to £30).
So if you are bored... I would encourage you to spend the next 20 minutes to contributing to science! If you don't have 20 minutes, but have 20 seconds, then I would GREATLY encourage any repostings. The key to understanding this debate is by getting large numbers. The more participants, the clearer and more reliable the results.

Regardless of whether you do this survey or not, I just want to take a moment to thank you all for your help, kind words, and input throughout these last 2 years! You all have been absolutely amazing and very supportive!
Stay mighty,
Jas
