Census Needs Horde Help - Apparently

So, I'm going to attempt to help out by going home tonight and installing the Census Plus UI mod.

I just thought this was particularly alarming, for Horde players on CC, given that this could be an indication of the majority of Horde players not using Add-Ons at all. Does this make sense?

Now, I'm not saying one needs use Add-Ons to be a good player. I prefer to use as few as possible, honestly, so I don't have to bother with keeping so many updated. I'll also admit that this may not be as solid an indication as I suspect about general Add-On usage.

I've wondered why Horde mostly loses in the BGs I play even though I've tried every strategy from trying to have a one track mind to reach the goal, to simply healing other players as much as possible. Nothing seems to work.

Anyone know of another, more reliable source for this information about CC?

Census information on CC Horde has rather been light historically. I wish you luck in this endeavour.

I don't think any population balance on CC is a significant contributing factor on Horde BG performance, seeing as it's been several years since BGs have been inter-server.

Right now, all of the North American servers have been combined into a single battlegroup, so anytime Horde wins or loses in a battleground, it's a combined effort from any of them (unless it's an RBG, of course). Though, with any BG, YMMV. The only imbalance I've noticed in general BGs have been certain BGs slightly favoring one faction, but no overall difference in wins/losses.

Historically, CC's balance has been slightly tilted toward Alliance numbers, but I know things have gotten much closer over the last year or so.

I knew this, and yet I didn't even consider that.... Thank you for correcting my faulty reasoning about the balance of battlegrounds. Maybe it's got more to do with me.... The only thing in PvP I was ever really good at with this character was running the flag in WSG in Original WoW, in the 30-39 bracket.

Still installing Census tonight... :) Thanks for the well-wishing.

The Census needs more Alliance contributions. I call upon you all to help knock these belves down a few pegs.

It's interesting that you see Horde losing in BGs, Odietamo, because most of the time, I personally see Alliance losing. I went in with four friends in a premade last night and we dominated Warsong Gulch twice (well, the second time we mostly just turtled; we had one cap, Horde had none, timer ran out), but it was the first time I've won a Warsong Gulch in awhile (other than Call to Arms weekends, where Alliance seems to do a lot better).

I think the general ratio of Alliance to Horde on Cenarion Circle is around 2:1. This said, I question addons like Census. The information is at best speciously reliable. I don't understand why Blizzard holds back faction populations per realm; that's information a new player could really use to either help a realm dominate, or to help even things out.

I'd love to see more Horde if it meant more Horde RPers.

It's somewhere around 1.5/1.3:1 right now, Rage, but we need more Alliance numbers. I've been trying to run a census each side at least once a day, but it often ends up being in the off-hours.

If we have more people actively running censuses closer to primetime, we should be able to get a better-defined proportion.

What the heck, I'm willing to run that census. I'm not always on every day (I tend to take a day or two off closer to the end of the week; Mass Effect 3 still calls...), but when I'm on during the week, it's typically smack in the middle of prime time. I'll install the mod this evening when I get home from work.

I've been running Census Plus on both the horde and alliance side every Saturday around noon server for a couple years. I prefer to run with minimal mods so I run it on neglected alts.
Running it during what seems to be the peak raid times (Tues/Thurs 7-9 server) might be a good time too.
It takes about 5 minutes to do a head count.

If you're feeling especially helpful or geeky Warcraft Realms has a list of critically under reported realms, I created alts on a few and grab a count when I think of it.

Oops.

I just noticed a couple days ago that the "Load out-of-date add-ons" was un-ticked with one of the recent patches. I've been uploading at least once a month since I started playing WoW again, but my uploads from the past month haven't had any new entries because the add-on wasn't running. I run the add-on on all my characters, and I don't normally disable it since I haven't had trouble with client performance. The Alliance entries should return to normal soon if they haven't already with my most recent uploads.

I'd upload more frequently if the Uniuploader application saved settings after closing the application.

The data from the add-on is actually quite useful and relevant. Some of it can be misleading if there are too few entries, though the website has a specific warning in bright red letters about that.

If there are enough entries, two of the more useful graphs are the Weekly Faction Activity graph and the Daily Activity graph.

Weekly Faction Activity:

Daily Activity:

With the new (and improved?) armory API, I've seen a site that uses the armory to graphically represent population data for realms.

It doesn't account for inactive characters and it doesn't track things like character level over time, guild history, or population activity over time, but it's still a great website that doesn't rely on user submissions.
