Landing in Andorhal, Tyrexus had not had a particularly good flight. He hated the plaguelands. But, the thought of what he was going to do made the long flight a little easier to tolerate. As he got of the giant bat that flew him there, some low level orc officer came scurrying up to greet him.
"Lord Tyrexus! I had heard nothing of your arrival. I'm sorry we weren't expecting you or I would have had accommodations prepared."
"I have no need, Private." The Captain cringed at the obvious slight. "I won't be staying, this was just the closest flight path."
"But, my lord, it's almost nightfall. You can't possibly be traveling alone at night! The beasts all roam and hunt at night. Terrifying things hunt with the dark."
As Tyrexus reached the gate and prepared to leave, he turned and gave the Captain a small smirk. "More terrifying than me?" With that he started his journey a foot that would most likely take him hours to complete. He thought, at least I can use a portal to get back home when I'm through. Walking is for the young.
Almost three hours later, without any undo delays, he arrived at Hearthglen, his destination. Certainly there had been some eyes that glowed from the darkness, some gutteral growls just beyond his sight, and some crashing through the brush, but, nothing had bothered him. Instinctually, most predators knew better than to attempt the hunt on a being of such power.
He reached the gate and saw a guard posted on either side. He shook his head, "Gentyl, you make this almost too easy." Drinking one of his potions of invisibility, he simply walked in between the guards and through the gate. One of the guards sniffed at the air and looked around, obviously smelling the distinct smell of undead, but not realizing what it was. Ahhhh, the plaguelands, Tyrexus thought, sometimes there are benefits to being here. You never know what you're going to smell.
He had paid well for the information that he had. The second building on the right, up the path. As he came around the corner of a building, a guard came around at the same time, bumping into him. He was forced to break his invisibility and polymorph the guard into a sheep. Then, leading the sheep into some bushes on the side of a building, he looked down and saw the sentience in the creatures eyes. "Ahhh, I am sorry, lad. Sometimes this happens. Where you know everything and are just trapped in the sheep's body. Well, I will try to make this as painless as possible." The sheep "baahhhed" at him and Tyrexus put his hand on top of the animal's head. An ice lance tore through the sheep's head, instantly killing it. Tyrexus drew two of his fingers through the puddle of blood and licked them clean. Leaving the body where it wouldn't be found until morning, he moved on.
Drinking another potion, he went to the appointed building and opened the door. No guards! The Dark Lady is with me, Tyrexus thought. Climbing the stairs, it should be the third room on the right. He found it easily enough. Trying the latch he found it open as well. Squinting his eyes, he wondered at a trap. This was all far too easy, or were the Pia just this negligent.
Entering the room, he found it to be in a total state of disarray. So much so it looked like a cyclone had gone through it. He stepped carefully over piles of clothes and other such and the moonlight was enough through the window where he could see the bed with a large bundle under the covers. Smiling he stepped forward and threw the covers back.
It was a pillow. He closed his eyes in frustration. "Gentyl, Gentyl, Gentyl. Why aren't your children in bed, where it's safe." He sat down on the edge of the bed, knowing that this would be his only chance after they found the dead guard tomorrow, the Pia would double or triple their security. He saw a stuffed rabbit on the floor, picking it up, an idea came to him. Sometimes, fear was a greater weapon than actual power.
He tore off the buttons for eyes and used his sharpened claws to dig two very deep holes in the rabbits head. He looked around the room and found fingerpaints. Perfect! He used the red to pour into the holes on the rabbits head and made quite the grisly mess. Lastly, he wrote with his finger above the headboard. "Rest Well, Little One." Smiling and chuckling under his breath, Tyrexus whispered, "Foul creature, indeed." With that, he tore a hole in space and stepped through. Wondering, as he entered his own apartments, with such a mess, how long it would take Foxria to realize that he had even been there.
