A journey of discovery

Kael kept blinking, now at the small piece that used to be a candle when he began reading. The sun was rising up already, though the paladin didn't feel any sort of tiredness by now. Sure, the muscles were sore after long hours of reading under a dim light in an isolated room, but his soul was by now exhilarating with emotions. He wasn't alone in his thoughts. Someone, in the heart of the Church, had the same questions he had now. And though so far he was as away from the answers as before, at least he knew now that he wasn't alone in his search.

"Now I have to hear what the living have to say", Kael told himself. A no menial task, given the extension of his ideas. He stopped for a moment and looked out the small window that showed him the main square of the Cathedral District. The first rays of sunlight bathed everything with a soft golden light, specially the statue of Uther Lightbringer. Somehow he was sure that he knew the same Kael did, and would sanction his searching. "There's nothing wrong with knowledge. It's what has brought us here, and it's what pushes us further."

Picking up his cloak, Kael walked to the main wing of the Cathedral of Light, his heavy metal boots leaving a dull sound behind him when they contacted with the marble of the floor. The paladin nodded and gave out a quick smile to Father Farthing, and then went quickly out the magnificent building. The first faithful were arriving for the morning sermon, making him feel full of the power of the Light of Creation. That was the best clue he had, how the good will of others brought him into greater heights of goodness, and how that goodness helped him bring out the good will. The perfect virtuous circle of life itself expressing.

"All I need to do now is secure passage to the Exodar. And hope Master Velen can receive me", Kael thought. "I'm sure that, being so connected to the Light and to the elements as well, the draenei prophet will understand what I mean. That the Light is an element, as earth and water itself, as nature and arcane power is. It can't be otherwise, the Light is the elemental manifestation of the best of us all."

It was always good to see a friendly face. Even if they didn't serve under the same banner, theirs was a common goal. Commander Narnicka of the Stormwind Army and Kael with the Argent Crusade saw each other during the War against the Lich King, and the paladin knew well of the prowess in battle of the soldier. Sharing an ale and the old tales of the North was relieving to Kael, in more than one way. Though always loyal to the Alliance and to king Varian, his heart was truly residing somewhere else. Higher, if one will, but he would describe it better as "otherwordly", as the Light was.

The Light, such a mysterious, yet always present presence it was. As he walked to the flight post to take passage towards Hearthglen, he pondered silently his last discoveries. For a journey as big and extended as he wished to take, it was better to clarify to the leadership of the Guard, specially with Sepha Gentyl, where he will be the next days.

"The Exodar...!" He found saying to himself, louder than a thought. It was indeed exciting to know that he would finally put his eyes on the house of Prophet Velen. Even if he wouldn't get to talk with him, certaibly there will be priests and soldiers akin to him (if he remembered it well, draenei called that force Vindicators) with who he could discuss about his ideas.

But first he would need the permission to visit Kalimdor, and that meant answer some questions that will surely arise about his hasty departure, even if temporal. The Sepha and the guard have been more than generous to receive him after he came back from Northrend, and the least he could do (the least he must do) was to ask for their permission. And advice. He was sure a good advice for a trip he had never made will be good.
