((Quite some time ago, Roark and Pia did a holy relics quest that was a lot of fun. It sent people all over Azeroth, encouraging them to explore and work together in units. We're reviving this and hope people will choose to get involved. You can either help the church gather these relics or try to collect them for yourselves a power objects or whatever other reason you choose.
Many of the missions will include running instances in character. Both Horde and Alliance can participate. If we do horde, I will need a volunteer to act as a clue giver.
It's nearly the end of the year, let's ring it out with a cross faction, fun bit of role play))
From Roark Slader:
To the devout members of Pia Presidium,
At the request of the most esteemed and wonderful Lady Gentyl, I undertook some considerable efforts to track down a number of items thought lost when the original Stormwind Cathedral was destroyed. Up until recently, calling my venture unsuccessful would have been an understatement akin to saying that the Burning Legion was mean. I was beset with setback upon dead-end upon setback. That is, until yesterday.
As it happened, a bit of luck gave me the chance to overhear conversation of use to my search. A drunken Kaldorei debutante revealed much in her idiotic revelry than I believe she realized. Her fear of decapitation proved most useful in gaining what additional information I needed to proceed. Fear not, though shaken, she is alive and well, though I am certain my compassion in this regard will return to haunt me.
For those of you who would be easily overcome with righteous zeal, please do not continue reading if you’ll not be able to show a certain amount of diplomacy.
There is a strange Kaldorei male, named Datuma, who roams with barely any purpose on Tedrassil. I believe he is descended from some family or other in ancient Shen’ Dralar. He is wasting away from a magical addiction and will probably not have long to live. He has fallen to thievery and banditry to scrap money together so that he can purchase what he calls “medicine”. I was able to recover a small sample of his relief, despite his violent protests, and was immediately dumbfounded at the level of depravity reflected by he and his supplier.
In short, my friends, his “medicine” was made from powdered gold blessed by the Church of light. Specifically, it was made from gold looted from Stormwind during the First War. This Kaldorei was purchasing fragments of holy relics, destroying them, and consuming them. Apparently, the blessings of the Light soothed his miserable condition.
Though I wanted nothing more than to end his miserable life then and there, reason prevailed and I sought to find his source. All I was able to extract was the name of a Troll weapons dealer. This troll, by the name of Valimuri, would sell him small bits of the relics.
My story has been long winded, but here is where I get to the part of most importance. I am, as they say, flagged. The slightest hint of my appearance on Tedrassil will such filth to go scuttling into the woodwork. I believe the best course of action is for me to be in an obvious location while I rely on one of you to find Datuma and question him. I believe that a gentler hand, one I know members of your holy order would bring, could sway the vagabond into revealing what I could not extract.
His name is Datuma. Find him, and relay what he has to say back to myself and the Sepha. Be warned, though he himself is no danger to anyone who can hold a blade, there are darker things at work here.
Carry the Fortunes,
Roark Slader
Datuma, Gentyl found, much to her dismay had wasted away before they could extract any information from him, but an elderly human woman named Mercy had tended him at the end. Rumor had it she fed him truth potions mixed in with his medicine and she thoroughly unearthed all his secrets. The trick would be getting her to talk...if they could even find her.
((Mercy will be found roaming around Stormwind between 4:30-6 December 2.))
((This is a storyline event of a minor information gathering nature. It is pretty straightforward, but the mystery will grow as the storyline progresses. Please feel free to inject all manner of IC factors into it as it is by no means a scripted event. I just ask that you stick to your goal of eventually recovering the relics.
If you want to participate, there will be a whole LOT of traveling around and hopefully we can all learn something about the wonderful World of Warcraft through this.
I expect that these quests will all be doable by folks of many levels. If it requires gathering of a particular item and you feel your character is too low, I will say that there are many ways to skin a cat.))
