My You're a Tall One by Quillsy Inkspinner
SIzy saw a demon. That's the only way to describe how awesome and awful that day was. She saw a demon and kicked it in the shin. Usually, when you think of kicking someone in the shin, it's a glorious thing. You wind up. You kick. They get hurt. You run away laughing that you got away with what could be seen as murder or an act of war. That wasn't the case this time. Apparently, those visions forget a few laws of physics and Sizy cursed herself for not remembering these very basic tenants that she based most of her work around.
The first tenant she forget. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. When she kicked the demon's shin, her foot swung with such force that when it connected with the solid immovable shin the only plausible reaction is that the force of her kick redirected back into her foot. The overall result: intense pain. But this was a demon so she couldn't show weakness. So she ran away. She left Catroo and her books and her bags and tools behind. Great.
Waiting outside hidden in the fur of Pippo's big bear back, the demon walked passed, looked at her, smirked, and left. Sizy was proud of how she remained hidden from the demon. There is no way she saw Sizy laying atop Pippo's head. Or her red hair sticking up over Pippo's head. She skipped as she bounded back into the bar again. A spring blade strapped to her sprained ankle so she could walk with relative ease. However, when she entered there was no one there. Sizy panicked. Where could they have gone?
"Oh no. I upset the demon and she ate everyone! Even Catroo!"
She turned and marched out the door, her stuff still sitting under the table where she left it. Now Sizy had a mission. She was going to kill the demon or at least give it indigestion so that she could get her friends back. And the other people who were eaten because they didn't deserve to be left behind. But what if they were murderers? Okay maybe she would make a questionnaire that they would have to answer before she would rescue them. But Catroo was certainly going to be rescued.
