The warrior stretched out with a soft groan, feeling that delicious ache in every muscle of his body. A bone popped back into place and for a brief moment he remembered his body was nothing more than a corpse waiting to decay into nothingness. But all those thoughts were forgotten when he felt the warm body lying next to him and he found himself grinning happily. With care one would not attribute a warrior of his type, he untangled himself from his bedsheets and slipped out of bed, putting on a pair of unusually brightly colored slippers on as he shuffled silently across the room to the kitchen.
It did not take long until the smell of bacon and eggs spread back towards the bedroom, stirring her out of a deep restful slumber. She sat up slowly, holding the sheet to herself to fight off the morning chill and glanced around. A small smile spread to her lips and she slipped out of bed, tossing on a robe and moving quickly across the cold floor. As she entered the kitchen, she saw the forsaken busy on the stove, cooking up a rather hearty breakfast. She watched his half-naked form appreciatively before her brows creased in a deep frown.
"Stefan..."
He glanced over his shoulder with a wolfish grin, "Good morning dear, you're just on time." He pulled out a plate and started preparing her breakfast.
"Stefan." Her tone held a note of warning and she all but tapped her foot to the ground.
"Hmm?" He flipped a cleaning towel on his shoulder and placed a plate of warm food on the table for her, "Breakfast is served."
"Are those my slippers?"
He paused and glanced down at the pink fuzzy slippers he was wearing. "Yes?"
She simply looked at him, arms crossed over her chest.
"But the floor was cold."
"I am very aware."
He glanced down at her feet, noticing the way she moved from one to another to avoid getting them too cold, the motion simple but a clear statement of her speed and agility. "Well then I suggest you sit down quickly, you won't be cold that way." He winked at her and went to prepare his own plate.
"...you're lucky I'm hungry."
"I'm sure." The way he grinned and spoke made her almost blush, but she took at seat as suggested and started digging into the food.
"So long as I get the slippers back..."
He sat down across her and snickered, "But I like how they feel."
"And look?"
"Hey, I'm man enough to wear pink fuzzy slippers."
"And dresses."
"I still say I look better than Raoul."
"No one does."
"I do."
"If you say so dear." She hid her grin as she went back to eating and pretended the warrior across her was not attempting to pout at her.
She was soon done with her meal and pushed the plate aside with a satisfied sigh. "Ok so maybe I was a little hungry."
He had the decency not to comment as he took the plate away and tossed it in the sink along with his. "So dear, what do you want to do today?"
"You know, I've no idea."
He nodded at that, resting against the kitchen counter as he looked at her. She turned in the chair to look back at him, a pensive expression on her face. "Nuna is in school, we can't go over quite yet... I have nothing pressing to do..."
"I have nothing either. And nowhere to go really. I mean we could waltz back in..." He didn't bother to finish the sentence at the expression on her face and instead tapped his chin. "How about we waltz in somewhere else?"
She looked at him quizzically, "Anywhere specific in mind..."
"No. But.. who says we can't go anywhere we want."
She thought about it for a moment, toying with the idea before smiling slowly. "We are free to do as we please..."
The concept was almost foreign, even after a bit over a month of time just to themselves.
"And nothing, and no one, is stopping us from visiting a few places until we find the perfect one..." He finished the thought for her. Both grinned at the idea and it was quickly settled.
The two of them spent the rest of the morning talking the plan out, making list of guild houses to visit, which ones to avoid and other technicalities. By the end of the day all major towns saw the appearance of a short flyer.
