Fancy yourself a champion in the ring? Then I challenge you to prove it in a Jousting Competition. Crusader Aeralynn Palemoon and her allies will be waiting to face you with mount and lance at the Argent Tournament. The winners shall walk away with prestige and prizes. Join us in the northern edge of Icecrown as we reignite the fires in the hearts of Azeroth's people. Saturday, February 5th is the date to remember.

Ok! So, many of you remember the daily grind for champion's seals in Icecrown at the Tournament Grounds, but I know some of you still visit there regularly (as do I). I used to challenge people openly in general chat in the closing month of Wrath, paying 100g to any who could beat me, but nobody ever came. This time there's more to win. I hope you haven't lost your touch.
Time: February 5th (saturday) 7pm-server til ??
What's to do?: I have two planned challenges.
The first challenge: The fastest lance! The rules are simple. You hop on your prefered mount, lance in hand, to face the circle of champions. Start with whichever faction you like, but know that you'll have to beat all 10 to stand a chance at getting a prize. Oh... one more thing... you cannot -CANNOT- use the mount refresh button (self heal) at any time once the first challenge has been set. I will be clocking you with the in-game timer, one contestant at a time. The top three times (should there be any) will be given argent tournament pets: 3 pets for first place, 2 for second, 1 for third. My personal best time taking all champions without a mount refresh is about 8 minutes.
The second challenge: The final lance! The rules are simple here too. It's a single elimination duel frenzy between the players that show up and want to joust. You lose once and you're out. You are allowed to use your mount refresh between duels. The last rider standing without challenge will face yours truly for the grand prize (secret). I've only ever faced one other player before in a jousting duel. Their reply, "You move so fast..." My response, "I try." /strut
How do you participate?: You need to be at least a valiant at the tournament, which requires level 77+ and a short questline do-able completely at the grounds (basically teaching you how to joust), although I'm a bit hazy on the exact details as it's been awhile. Players with the Valiant rank will be eligible for the "Final Lance" challenge against other players. You need the Champion rank to engage the faction reps around the ring for the "Fastest Lance" challenge. Champion rank takes 5 days of doing 5 dailies at the Silver Covenant Pavilion, which sends you across Northrend.
Mount handicaps: With the release of Cataclysm, the tournament mounts have become tougher. 77-80 players will have 50k health mounts (standard), but each level beyond that increases the health by a small number eventually giving 85 players roughly 59k health. Unfortunately I can't make any exceptions. If you want to joust, you will face any and all who also want to joust, regardless of the health difference. There is still time yet to reach 85 for those that haven't, but if you're Wrath-capped you'll just have to make do.
Quick rundown: Feel free to show up at the tournament at any time, to joust or just to socialize during the challenges. There are food and drink vendors scattered across the grounds. 7pm starts the warm up rounds - duel other players or faction champions to prepare yourself for the spotlight events. 7:30pm starts the two planned challenges. I hope to have things wrapped up by 11pm, but depending on the turnout, it might last longer. I will be standing by the ToC stone to summon any low levels who don't have means to get themselves to the Tournament, but once the challenges start, any low levels will have to pester a warlock or maybe Calegar and his rocket to get you there.
Can I get a rematch?: I know sometimes that we all get unexpected lag and freeze up or just disconnect completely, but I will leave the rematches to a case by case basis and ultimately it's up to the victor to accept the second challenge in honorable fashion.
What about the Horde?: Any Hordies are welcome to attend the events and participate in the warm up rounds with player vs player jousting duels. But I will only be accepting Alliance players to enter the planned challenges for prizes.
I hope to see you there! ~Aera
