How to roleplay a Night Elf.

Here's one.

Does the white night elf hair = old, or is that like the equivalent of blonde?

Blonde. Night Elves never knew old age. They've always been immortal.

False, they've existed long before their immortality was given to them. As a race, they've had members die from old age, it just hasn't happened in thousands of years.

White hair is a natural colour for Kaldorei. So it's like blonde.

I also don't know why we can't just pick black as a hair colour too.

Eldamar is right here. Night Elves have almost always been immortal, first from the Well of Eternity, then a brief stint of mortality, then from Nordrassil, and now mortal again.

Rumze's post

It always does, because they're RPers, how many times do I have to point this out?

Every RP community is home to the worst, least accepting people who all have severe cases of unwarranted self-importance. Then they delude themselves into thinking they're helping anyone by being douches.

Well, I don't know who you're talking about, because, as someone who's RP'd with Melyria, and who has talked with her OOCly, I can tell you she isn't this type of person. You can make all the judgements you want from the forums, but, considering that you basically just said you don't RP, that would show that you -haven't- RP'd with her, and are therefore ill-equipped to try and brand her in any way.

Edited for double-quote.

I actually bookmarked this guide because I loved it so much. Thanks much, Melyria!

I'm not only branding her that way, I'm branding you and every other RPer that way. And you're doing nothing to prove me otherwise.

And based on your actions, your opinion on any subject is ruled suspect.

Oh, alright. I thought it was just directed at her. If it's directed at everyone, then I could care less. Mainly because many of us just play the game to enjoy it, and to enjoy the world that Blizzard has created for us.

If by trying to clarify that world, we are somehow automatically labeled as thinking ourselves important by the person who calls himself the Godking of Moon Guard, then so be it. There are worse things in life than being the kettle who has to deal with the pot.

I hope by clarify you mean interpret.

I think the point Didders is making is these guides promote elitism in that once something is socially accepted as correct (Even when wrong) those who operate outside of the accepted social norm are alienated. These guides promote that behavior.

From what I read in the OPs the guide is about an average night elf. Not everyone is average.

Also Didders is just a troll.

The guide is meant to be a tool to be used to help people roleplay. There are cultural and traditional ways to roleplay a Night Elf. Now, we can get into 'right' and 'wrong' but I won't. Fact of the matter is that every race has a culture and I really don't think it is 'elitist' to bring that culture to the front and give a detailed examination of it to players to do with as they wish.

Wait, so you're promoting the alienation of roleplayers who operate outside of your guides guidelines?

I'm not promoting the alienation of anyone. I'm promoting the lore behind Night Elves.

You can be an overweight Night Elf, for instance. With this guide you now know what is an 'average' Night Elf's weight and height.

You can be a progressive Night Elf and enjoy things other elves do not. But they're called progressive for a reason, because it relates to culture and backstory.

Oh, okay. I didn't think you were either, I was just wondering why you quoted what I said when it really had nothing to do with your guide in particular.

I happen to enjoy the English language, and as a kicker, unlike RP there is a scale to see how good you are at that.

Mainly because many of us just play the game to enjoy it, and to enjoy the world that
Blizzard has created for us.

And yet when other people try to enjoy it in their own way you deem them unacceptable, that seems, well, frankly it seems like you're stupid.

If by trying to clarify that world, we are somehow automatically labeled as thinking ourselves important by the person who calls himself the Godking of Moon Guard, then so be it. There are worse things in life than being the kettle who has to deal with the pot.

When I do it, it's a joke because I think it's funny, yet when you do it, it's serious and that makes you sad.

While I won't reply to the comment about the English language, seeing as I most likely did do something wrong there, your other comments are laughable at best.

For one, I never once said "U no follow guide. U bad." In fact, I try to encourage diverse characters, so long as there is some basic understanding of the race. A night elf who lives like a human is fine. But when they wonder (OOCly) why other elves, more traditional elves, don't associate with them, then you know that they don't understand the concept behind the race itself. Either that, or there's confusion, which means that it needs to be clarified.

I don't know what you mean when you say "it" in your third comment, as there are a few things that it could mean... Not an insult, just literally saying that I'm not sure what you're talking about.
