THE BLACKWALD SYNDICATE

Blackwald: The Black Forest of Gilneas. Syndicate: A self-organizing group of individuals and other entities formed to transact some specific business/goals.

Gilneas was a small and compact land. The wall that separated it from the rest of the world was a living analogy for life behind it: divided. On the backs of the poor and powerless were the nobility, whom acted as all authority figures do -- with impunity and no regard for the people they crush under boot. Corruption ran rampant, and the city belonged to the few.

The creation of the Blackwald Syndicate, named for the Black Forest of Gilneas, seemed to form itself over time; it acted as a current of backlash against the tide of cronyism that crashed over the nation of Gilneas with the construction of the wall. Its stated goals were the upheaval of corruption through use of blackmail, bribery, and other assorted shadowcraft, as the rule of law had failed the people.. and anarchy simply seemed too crude and unrealistic a goal.

With a strong start, the Blackwald made massive strides against the elite and the nobility, its branches creeping through the cracks of society at many angles -- every blacksmith that had been short-ordered, every craftsman that had a guild shut down, every fisherman whose boat was destroyed, contained ire for the crown of Gilneas and the Royal Guards under their thumb.

But most good things come to an end, and the burdened peasantry were left unsatisfied as the Lords and Ladies wisened up to their actions, throwing out or even executing those found to collaborate with the terrorists.

After that point, when the syndicate was at its lowest, a young Gilnean woman rose through the ranks of the group with unnerving speed, earning the nickname Fauxpaw for her ability to break barriers that others would never consider. She had managed to wrest control of the Blackwald in seemingly no time at all with a personal retinue of dedicated Enforcers, true believers of her vision and purpose.

Eventually, a well-oiled machine had been crafted. The Syndicate was restructured to cast a wider net, weaseling agents into the upper echelons of society once again.. even reaching the house of Greymane itself. In doing so, Fauxpaw had created a tenuous balance between the Lords and the Lordless by learning of their darkest secrets and squeezing them for every gold possible, redistributing it to the Blackwald and its agents.. with a healthy cut for her war chest.

Now, Fauxpaw seeks a rebirth of the syndicate, with a more modern twist. The worgen spies the same corruptive influence of unchecked authority in the Alliance, as the lower class brunts the burden of war in Draenor, leaving only rats behind to prey on the weak. And she means to remedy it, by using the Blackwald as a private investigative and enforcement agency with the help of a newly acquired mercenary company.

* * * * *

The Blackwald Syndicate is an Alliance "RP first"* guild on Wyrmrest Accord, accepting associates and informants to join in on its spy network, with a theme of keeping corruption and authority in check through the use of shadowcraft. On the surface, we are a corp of mercenaries that work in concordance with the Alliance and her motives, but underneath is a group of dedicated agents that maintain a network of contacts, keeping an eye and ear on the movements of others, in addition to taking on contracts with clients.

*RP first means roleplaying related goals and events come first. As members are recruited, PVE/PVP may be accomplished if members show interest in it.

Even though we carry the title of ‘Syndicate’, the Blackwald is not an evil organization. If you plan on joining to murder, pillage, and other unsavoury things, your character should turn elsewhere. If, however, you have a character interested in getting things done for the greater good, even with grey-territory methods, then the Blackwald is for you. There is a place for all classes in our guild, and we focus on creating intrigue both inside the Syndicate, and with other groups.

It’s a little outdated, unfortunately, as we changed a good deal about our guild when we switched servers from Ravenholdt-TwistingNether this month. We’re workin’ on it, but it’s still fairly accurate.

RECRUITMENT

The Blackwald is looking for people to join as either in-guild associates, or out-of-guild informants. Associates join the guild fully, and either become a member of the mercenary corp to help protect our assets and loss prevention, or act as one of our agents to work with our network and clients. Informants, however, are not required to join the guild -- they get added to a roster of people, and access to our secret OOC channel, where they may share information with the Blackwald and cooperate with us to meet our goals.

It is very important to note that we expect a certain standard from all members of the Blackwald Syndicate. They aren’t particularly radical or stringent, but we do like to cater for a more realistic experience. You will find out about these tenets while filling out the recruitment form, or by going to our About page on the website.

Not all officer positions are filled, and those who demonstrate proactiveness and a penchant for good storytelling will be promoted somewhat quickly, if they wish.

If you're interested in joining or just learning more, then talk to me, Fauxpaw, Alberic, Pencer, another member of the guild, or head to our website and fill out a "Recruitment" form @ http://blackwaldsyndicate.enjin.com/contact

The in-character pretense is that certain recruiters are giving out cards around the city of Stormwind. These cards are turned in to the man behind the counter of Larson Clothiers in the Mage District. When you fill out a form on our website, you may assume this was done, and were told that someone will be in contact with you shortly.

HIRING US

The Blackwald offers a variety of services to those that seek it. While we mainly perform investigative and intelligence gathering contracts, more is available upon request. Feel free to contact us and we will see what we can do to help. Alternatively, go to http://blackwaldsyndicate.enjin.com/contact and fill out a Correspondence form!

F.A.Q.

What happens after we submit a recruitment form?

* One of the officers of the Blackwald (Spymaster, Executioner, Enforcer or Director) will see to contacting you as soon as they are able, and inform you of what’s required to join. Namely, an interview in the near future. We will tell you if you have been approved or not. Please, do not take it personally; we have nothing against those who wish to roleplay in a certain style, but we wish to engender a specific type of RP, is all! ♥

How long does it take to get an interview?

* This all depends entirely on two things: How many people apply, and the clashing of schedules. Generally, we will want to try and get at least one interview done a day, sometimes two. This is due to our quality concerns, as we wish to put our all into a given interview. Usually we are open for interviews at around 7pm to 8pm server time, but that is subject to change based on who is available. In short, it could be anywhere from one day to one week.

How large is the Blackwald?

* As of this post, we are a fresh guild. However, with a bare minimum of effort, we’ve managed to swind-- er, convince a few members to join, and all have been highly supportive so far. If you are worried about content, you shouldn’t be; we are actively working on some nifty things for members to accomplish.

A big welcome to our newest recruits! Had some "eventful" interviews, and I'm looking forward to many fun times ahead.

On another note, I'll also be around to answer any questions about the guild if Fauxpaw is feeling indisposed.

We really appreciate the continued interest we're receiving, and are making good use of the new chattel... er, recruits!

Since the question has been posed, I would like to clarify that the online application is not absolutely required. If you're not inclined towards filling out forms, talk to an officer and we can set up an OoC interview to compensate. Just be aware that you may have to wait a few hours or more, depending on when you poke us with a stick.

Oh, and Fauxpaw seems to have escaped her crate. If you happen upon that miscreant, there's a reward for her return (dead or alive... or dead).

I've put together a little roleplaying system that members of our guild will be using for specific types of events from this point forward, dubbed Syndicate Roleplaying System ("SRP"). If any of y'all would like to take a look at it, feel free --

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VgbkW966u13GuTdfXeNHRwQAm79OZ2DI0v2bh6rGEMM/edit?usp=sharing OR http://bit.ly/bwsystem

-- you're free to use it and alter it as you see fit. The point of the system is to be non-intrusive to roleplaying, allowing players to play their characters, but still retain that chance of failure. If you have any questions, ask them here!

Is this guild Worgen only? Or could a Human Warlock largely lacking in morality apply? :P

Hey Seshia!

The guild attracts a large number of Worgen due to our backstory, but any and all races are allowed to apply.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask here or poke myself or Fauxpaw in-game. My btag is Teddy#1568 if you need it.

I am only just now learning about this guild, and I must say the level of organization, forethought and overall professionalism in your materials is impressive.

I believe the Ghostwolf Pack could fit in very well as allies/informants of the Syndicate. I could even see sending one of our members over to apply to join your ranks to solidify the bond of trust.

Fauxpaw, Alberic: check us out on http://ghostwolfpack.guildlaunch.com, particularly the "More about us" page, and see what you think about us working with you. If it sounds interesting, then I can have Mahikann here turn one of those cards in at Larson Clothiers ;)

In any case, best wishes to your guild.

Can't say thanks enough for all of the positive feedback, guys. :)

Last week we had a workshop for our new "SRP" system, which went incredibly smoothly. Fauxpaw deserves much love. Later tonight we're kicking off the first in a series of events that will be part of a larger guild story arc!

I wanted to thank the Syndicate for the great fun at the RP event last night. Very interested to see where the story arc goes, and again, thanks for inviting me along.

Going to reiterate this point. :)

We are still actively recruiting while our current story arc is in progress! The arc provides a wonderful opportunity for people to show off their skillz if they're looking to find their way into a veteran or officer rank, and play a larger part in their guild.

Not to say we promote people willy nilly. We has a "process" >:-D

Giving these good folks another well deserved bump. Good RPers, well organized, and fun group. After two RP events and some "hanging out" with them, I can say first hand they are worth checking out.

So many exceptional players and characters have found their way to us, and the roleplay over the past week has been phenomenal.

I can't say thank you enough to the entire community of Wyrmrest Accord for allowing us to find a place here.
