I made a post about CRZ... At the World's End

Well, I finally did it...

I said I would, and I did. Took me long enough...

I think we should have discussion on what CRZ means for RPers.

A lot of our server's events happen in CRZ zones, including Feathers tavern.

CRZ presents opportunity's for new RP interactions, but also some problems when things don't mesh so well.

If people want, read the post and contribute.

If you want to advertise your RP/Guild/event for CRZ interaction, please do so!

I really hope the thread can stay respectful, but I have my...Concerns...

Thanks to everyone <3

I agree with quite a lot of what you said in that thread.

Sadly, it's WET, Expect it to turn into a fight about if Blood elves can have Dark skin, and if RPing a dragon is OP.

Cynical though it may sound, Bralox is right; more oft than not, going beyond our server(s) forums, we wade through a stinking cesspool of trolldom. (Some of which, like these people constantly needing to poach from our server for their raiding guilds, is starting to seep in!) Not all people out there are so inclined, but we tend to get "the worst of the worst" on any "open" forums.

Which is not to say that the olive branch should not be extended, but don't be surprised if they feed it through a woodchipper.

The Union had a great time last night getting some cross-server RP and interaction in Lakeshire while we got jumped by a pair of naughty rogues. :) We're trying to expand patrols and things to CRZ zones for that purpose. I think probably the best way is to be out and about and doing it, really.

So!

I just went and made posts on every server that is connected to us (Thanks to Caileanmor for that list you posted awhile ago!) asking to make a list of CRZ friendly events.

I would love for Cenarion Circle to have a strong contribution, as I think it could be a way to bring in more RP to the server.

I made -another- post on WET for a list compiled from every server. I will be including both of Feathers events, as they are in CRZ zones. I know the Cat Cafe and Pia's Monday events are in Ironforge, and I would love to include those as well as the AAMS Horde lounge and any other event.

Thank you guys all so much, you are wonderful <333

This looks like a nice idea. I will pass along information for the Pia events (Troubadour night/Clinic and Caturday Cat Cafe).

Did someone summon a Sassycat?

So, anyways, the B&B Cafe runs on Saturdays from 6pm to 8pm Realm Time. It's hosted by me and Broodin, and each week we feature a new special. Usually a new flavor of bagels and spreads. We totally welcome CRZ people, and have already had a few come through. Sadly, I still can't trade food and drink items across realms.
Our regular menu features plain bagels, rainpoppy seed bagels, rice flour bagels and pork "bagels" (for our carnivores) with regular creamed cheese, yak milk cheese, a number of berry jellies and our super special secret Crimson Sauce (again, for our carnivores). Drinks include hot or cold tea, fresh coffee, water, sparkling water, Dwarven Mead, Gilnean Whiskey and Gnomish "Rocket Fuel" (a carbonated energy drink). Oh, and heavy cream. Of course.
Weekly specials will be announced on Saturdays shortly before 6pm.
Any questions, comments or suggestions, please mail Bremmin. (alt 139 for the ï)

That's for the response Bremmin! I'll add that to the list. :D

Edit: Where exactly is it? Somewhere in Ironforge, right?

Derp, I always forget the location. Yea, Zeph's right. It's held in the empty building directly across from the Flight Master, on the same side of the Great Forge!

What about from Horde side? Da Doctas Clinic and AAMS lounge night are in CRZ zones, right?

Not forcing you guys to make it public, just wondering if you would find it beneficial. <3

I agree. We should discuss what CRZ means for RPers. I'll start here with a few comments to keep the discussion local. Perhaps I'll branch out into your WET post later. :) ...if that's ok with you.

I recognize and appreciate the beneficial opportunities CRZ can provide, but personally my interaction has been more to the detrimental side.

Where RP is concerned at best I tend to be ignored, and I'm content with reciprocating that by minding my own business. I'm more than happy to kibitz icly and emote if the other approaches me first, but typically 'they' don't. Rarely does an other-realm rper extend a whisper or ((ooc comment)) and attempt to contact me, the player. Usually I'm stepped over, crowded out of a situation, and generally made to feel unwelcomed as though I were a toddler to be ignored.

On the rare occasion that I do get that ((ooc extension)) there is a fairly good chance that the conversation will go something along the lines of "You're in my space. I'm using this space. You need to leave." In this scenario I would need to comply or else it'll devolve rapidly into a grief fest, as if they're 12yo and they call all their dumb little buddies over to make a nuisance and ruin it for everyone.

On the ooc side of things, we've all had horrible experiences with PUGs. For me, I tend to run more dungeon leveling PUGs more than I do LFR or PVP, but I've had my fair share of similar experiences there as well. The benefit to PUGs is that if/when things devolve and become unproductive I can just leave. It's kinda like stepping into another room and closing the door behind you, a door through which they can not follow. I can dust my hands off and carry on without a second thought, regardless of what may have happened in the PUG.

CRZ doesn't have that "PUG door" benefit. If I'm sitting comfortably in an unused house in IF and a group of two to four WrA toons wander in and are being rude and discourteous, I can't just pop back into a CC-SoE only phase and make them disappear. Would that I could sometimes. Instead I'm forced to either move to accommodate the whims of a bratty 12yo or stand my ground and risk wasting the next several minutes suffering their grieving and that of any other "brahs" they call to their aid.

Needless to say, I'm more than a little jaded where CRZ is involved.

This isn't -every- experience mind you. I did say that I recognize that there are some benefits, and I've had a few good experiences. I also realize that WrA, MG, and the other realms aren't full of idiots, a**hats, and 12yo's... >.> though sometimes I wonder. I have met more than a few good and fair minded people IC and OOC, in PUGs and in CRZ. Unfortunately it seems at times that the bucket of 'bad experiences' tends to outweigh my hand full of 'good experiences'.

I really do appreciate the efforts you are putting in here, Zaranae. Your attempts to open up lines of cross-realm-zone communication is a very good thing. Perhaps it can help me get over my aversion to CRZ by connecting me with helpful like-minded individuals in those other realms.

The Clinic is located in Orgrimmar, which is CRZ-free.

The Lounge is on Saturdays, in Hardwrench Hideaway in the Cape of Stranglethorn, from 7pm to 9pm, the same zone and general time frame as a certain other event. (*eyes Bremmin and demands free bagels as compensation*) We picked it in part because it's a more open space than the BB tavern, and we'd be less likely to get trolls.

We also picked it because it was a Horde-only area, and one of the main complaints I was getting from my guildies at the time was that our weekly cross-faction events turned more into "work" for them rather than a night spent enjoying RP, as they felt obligated to assist with interpreting conversations.

So... as much as I'm not against the trickle of new people we get through word of mouth and happenstance, I am not about to open the floodgates and mass invite our CRZ'd realms to the Lounge. It's a matter of logistics. We can get pretty crowded on a good night already, and there's usually only one AAMSer present on any given week, sometimes two, to monitor what's going to make sure there are no problems and that no one breaks the AAMS' rule concerning violence (which has happened).

Note: I consider "pretty crowded" to be any night when there's enough people that we have three or more conversational groups going. That's about the same time I start getting comments from people that they can't follow what's going on and feel too shy to join in. I end up spending a good chunk of my concentration making sure people aren't being left out or ignored, and I'm not always successful.

So I'd love to see the event expand, but not at the cost of being unable to manage having that many people present.

I completely understand Derscha, that's why I wasn't about to just put the event up. I'm glad that it's active <3 and I reaaaally need to get around to making Hordie on this server. Horde is truly where my heart is.

Anyway, speaking of Horde stuff, a message from Stanovic, of Wyrmrest Accord, a Forsaken RPer.

I am fairly certain that Tirisfal is a pretty open CRZ area, as I have interacted with a number of people from Cenarion Circle (my original server! love you guys!) in positive ways through RP. I could open up my Undeath Transition Assistance Program to other servers, but that would take a lot more planning and coordinating. I am open to the idea if someone in the Undead community wants to reach out to me from their server about it though,

I'm sorry you've had bad experiences, Odin. Trying to avoid bad experiences is why communicating about this is so important. Blizz never facilitated a discussion before throwing us all together, so it's kind of a mess...

I think if we can reach out to the communities on other servers, we can smooth over our interactions. I think people are initially uncomfortable with RPing with people from other servers. They're like aliens, they come from a different worlds. We've lived in separate spaces for years, and now we sort of run into each other. It's a strange phenomenon. I think simply talking to people and showing examples of positive cross server interactions can help with this initial weirdness and help people open up.

As far as problems with sharing space, there are bad apples anywhere, and some people will not be reasonable...
However, that's another thing we need to communicate about. if we could form a place for Ironforge RPers to talk about the spaces they use, and find ways to share it, like Feathers and Company of Blades did with Booty Bay, I think everyone would be happier and we would have less snobby "mine!" sort of attitudes. It's understandable that being are protective of their RP spaces; there can be strong emotional connections. But some friendly communication can go along way, and I think in the end, most people -are- reasonable if they feel they are being respected. Unfortunately, by showing up in their space, most feel you are automatically disrespecting them. If we communicate first, we can avoid that initial, defensive reaction.

Thank you for the kind words! And thank you for still being open even after the nasty experiences you've had.
