I would check WoWpedia. However, aside from certain words used in books and such, the languages are just put through a filter. They're not actually translated into Darnassian or Thalassian or whatever. The ingame filter just looks at the word length and then assigns it a random "translation" based on that.

However, if you say the same word multiple times 90% of the time or so it will come out as the same translated word. So if you say "Hello" it'll come out as "<random Darnassian sounding word>" almost every time you say it. At least for a period of time. So you -could- have someone "understand" Darnassian(Or some other language) just based on that. Though it'd mostly just be guessing.

WEll, the one word ive found that always is said is "Isu nu ala" Which nightelves say as a welcoming, biut idk lol

That would be this:

"Ishnu-alah." = "Good fortune to you" (A greeting.)

It's one of the known translations.

Yup. Just search up the language name on wowpedia. I looked up Orcish and got all of this, among even more information on names and locations in that language.

Orcish Primer (official translations)

Here are a few common orcish phrases and words, for which the translations have been officially confirmed by Blizzard:
"Aka'Magosh" = "A blessing on you and yours" [1]
"Bin mog g'thazag cha" = "I will protect you" [5]
"Dabu" = "I obey" [1]
"Dae'mon" = "Twisted soul" [6]; appears to be used in the same way as Man'ari in Draenei.
"Dranosh" = "Heart of Draenor"
"Gar'mak" = "Anguish"
"Gol'Kosh" = "By my axe" [1]
"Grombolar" = "Bowels of the giant" [7]
"Grommash" = "The Giant's Heart" [8]
"Kagh!" = "Run!" [1] / [5]
"Lak'tuk" = "Suffering"
"Lohn'goron" = "Hero's Sojourn" [9]
"Lok-Narash" = "Arm yourselves" [1]

Forgive me if posting in this is against the rules. I saw that the last post was a couple of months ago and i'm hoping that i am not necroing anything at the moment. Is it possible to learn other languages in wow by game mechanics or do i have to download an addon. I want to be able to speak another language other than common. like lets say i want to speak demonic or possibly draconic (lets just say i stole the "draconic for dummies from a mage or something).

There's a few addons you can use, which if other people have them they can understand you. Also, you can set someone as tranlator so they're understand you without it. If I remember right I used to use.. Lore?

There is an Addon called Tongues that lets you speak demonic or draconic or what ever you want but people with that addon can understand you

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of words that are officially recognized for any of the WoW languages. There are some that have been recognized by Blizzard as canonically true translations, and then another larger group of algorithmically "translated" words that are more or less the "babble" one would hear if listening to a language they did not understand.

I suppose, if one doesn't mind straying a ways outside of canon, that players could always make up their own words / grammar / languages for WoW based upon the sounds and structures suggested by the language algorithm in the game. For the sake of argument, you could always say it is a "dialect", rather that the absolute pure, main form of the language.

That sounds like a fun project, and I would LOVE to do it myself if only I had the time to spare. Maybe someday.

I thought the OP wanted to actually learn the WoW languages. That is what I was discussing, in any case. I know there are add-ons to have your characters speak different languages, but that is still just algorithmic word jumbling, not the actual languages themselves.

Thanks for all the suggestions, and sorry i wasn't able to reply soon enough. I have downloaded tongues, but i am having problems. when i go to the speak part of it, i am only able to speak my races known language (common). when i go to understand and type in a language and then type /tongues <insert language here> and then try to say something nothing pops out. I press enter, but what i typed isn't entering into the chatbox.

All that's known are phrases for each language which you can find with a little work on wowpedia. They're not developed as Blizzard didn't hire a Tolkien on staff, nor did they request the assistance of the Klingon Language Academy.

If the languages were that developed, Blood Elves and Night Elves should be able to at least partially understand each other as their language does have common ancestry.

I said i did download the addon rilvix. Refer to post #15 is what i meant i am having problems getting it to work because i don't really know how to use it.
