Bump. :)
[Guide] In-Game Roleplay -- The Basics
(Sticky)
Bump,and Stickied.Voted Meep's sticky too,but it hasn't happened yet :(
Updated sections III and V. An example of roleplay fighting (in III), and emphasis on writing skills in roleplay (in V).
Yay Updates.
I like how the suggestion to put effort into spelling/grammar is phrased, and you've even continued your trend of giving simple yet essential information as well as resources/links that people can use.

Thanks Meep! I'm trying to keep the guide as simple yet as resourceful as possible, but it takes a while, and even when I think I'm done, I'm pretty sure I'm not actually done. >.>
Shameless bump...
Like AND Sticky peoples :D
I read this guide again just for fun. :P

Probably not.
I just get very bored... :P
Especially since its been so quiet in the threads I've been in lately.

It's Shandris Feathermoon! -_-
Kidding. Voting for sticky.
Edit: One thing however...
A level 85 character can easily solo Kael'thas. So if you are going by your actual strength in-game, you can be more powerful than a lore character. Certainly their are other lore characters, dead or alive, that a high level could solo.

Lastly, before I go to the next section -- do NOT make your character more powerful than a lore character. If anything, go by your actual strength in-game if you feel the need to be somewhat powerful.

Ok, I wrote up a large post but it was the most poorly worded thing ever.
So I'll just say, its probably best not to go by in-game strength in that regard. If you take it relative to when you did it e.g. You might be able to solo one level 85 catacylsm murloc, then you can also say, RPwise, that you can solo 1 level 10 tirisfal murloc. It wouldn't make much sense lore-wise, to be able to kill 8000 level 10 tirisfal murlocs at once.
It, along with most things RP, are not simple black and white, so you just have to feel the right sort of balance between being overpowered and being underpowered, or something.
... Hey look, this is poorly worded too... but I'm not writing up something else. >.<

Perhaps that may need some re-writing, yes. I originally intended for "use your character's in-game strength" to refer to the current end-game raids and how those aren't particularly soloable (not one bit), but perhaps I need to use some alternative language right there.
But yes, I get it. Will be fixed by (at the most) 5:00 PM MST.

Excellent guide sir night elf. Here's to hoping it will get stickied, I figure this will be a boon for any new rp'ers out there.
Yes I stckied this... But I would be careful if I was you... Some people will confuse you with handris feathermoon.
I suppose I fixed it up enough. Feel free to leave some helpful critiquing and feedback if you think there's things I can add to it -- again, I don't consider myself a grand master of roleplaying, so any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks, Hadhan! I hope so too -- more guides would be great to have at the top of the forums.
I am aware. However, the lore character didn't come to mind until after I named my toon. >_>

Wow, getting new ideas to add to my guide as time goes on.
Just added a new Q&A to III. Roleplaying Fights, after seeing a discussion on the forums that made me think about things a bit more.

Hey, I've been looking for a good RP server, and saw this , thinking that the players on this server are quite good at Role playing. I'm slightly new to Role Playing, but I understand the basics. Is this a good realm to start on?

'This server' as in mine?
RP is a dwindling thing on my server, and has long since been a very scarce thing. There's a few guilds that roleplay on Horde, and a few guilds that roleplay on Alliance, but nothing really outside of that (except for a few individuals, myself included). You'd have to work for it, but most of the roleplay here (that I've seen) is either closed-group or unintelligible.
Just a note, too: our Goldshire is almost a ghost town, save for the few people who come to duel, loiter OOC, and (the few who do) roleplay. Our ERP community (which used to be a majority of roleplayers on our realm) have left for far greener pastures, hence why there may be little to no activity there at times.
