Azeroth’s Next Storyteller!

There will be an allotted amount of time for storytelling during the Kosh'harg. Like 45 minutes or an hour.

When the time comes in the Kosh’harg for storytelling, all who want to participate in Azeroth’s Next Storyteller! will be beckoned to approach the stage area.

There will be three judges - one from <Thundering Hammer Clan>, one from <Riders of Eternity> and one judge from neither. The <THC> judge has been requested from Chieftain Thorgrun, the <RoE> judge is Kabethari of Feathermoon, and Saraquael of Thorium Brotherhood, host of The Drunken Kodo, has been invited to be the third judge.

One judge will politely /yell to remind audience members to move close enough so that they can hear the speakers speak and emote. The judge will also remind the audience members to refrain from spellcasting, disruptive vanity pets, and emotes that are not reactions to the story.

Speaking Time Allotment
Take the allotted time and divide it by the number of participants. That’s how much time each participant has to tell their story. One judge will blow a Battle Horn when each participant's time is up. If, in the judgement of that judge, the story is about to reach a conclusion when time is up, they may, at their discretion, delay the blowing of the Battle Horn to allow the story to end. Storytellers are encouraged to consider stopping by the bonfire in Bloodhoof Village Sundays at 6:30 Pacific to retell their story if they happen to get cut short during Azeroth’s Next Storyteller!

Scoring
Each judge will rate the participants on a number scale based on the number of participants. #1 is the best story. The number equal to the number of participants is the worst story. The #1 (best) story receives points equal to the number of participants. The #2 (second best) story receives one less point, and so on so that the story equal to the number of participants (worst) receives only one point.

The three scores from each judge are added up for each contestant to determine Azeroth’s Next Storyteller!

Prizes
T.B.D. prizes are awarded! Prizes for winners on realms other than Feathermoon or Scarlet Crusade will be either a companion pet or a mount (such as Garn Nighthowl) so that they are able to use the prize on their home realm.

For Storytellers enrolling in Azeroth’s Next Storyteller!

  • Keep your phrases/paragraphs to 255 characters or less and emotes to 252 characters or less so they don’t break chat lines.
  • Practice performing your story beforehand until you can do it smoothly all the way through once.
  • Be prepared that you may not be able to finish your story. Come prepared with a longer and a shorter story, then you will be able to adapt based on how many contestants there are.
  • The crowd will be arrayed in a semi-circle around you, so remember to occasionally turn your toon to face a different part of the audience.
  • Use tools that the game provides to enhance your message - Elder’s Moonstone for a spotlight, growth potion to make you seem more...fierce or intense or whatever. Don’t overdo them; use sparingly and for emphasis.

For Azeroth’s Next Storyteller! Audience Members

  • Do not cast disruptive spells - that is any spell that will pull attention away from the speaker.
  • Certain vanity pets can be disruptive, so please dismiss them, or choose a calmer companion.
  • Multiple, excessive or intense RP emotes between audience members during a story that are not reactions to the story will distract from the speaker’s message. Keep these to a minimum.
