Seeking information about Alliance guilds.

80 Draenei Hunter
2255
I am a native to the PvP server, Drak'Tharon, and have been considering starting over in a roleplay setting. My out-of-game friends who originally brought me to my current server and World of Warcraft have moved on to other things, but I find myself still seeking an adventure. I am looking for a guild that will meet my needs and the needs of my character and was looking for advice on finding one.

I am seeking an active Alliance guild. On a technical note, I'm familiar with learning how to play my class and spec well. I can't say for sure yet if I will have time for scheduled dungeons and raids, but I am familiar with raid etiquette and will be reliable and responsible if I agree to go. I am rusty with roleplaying and unfamiliar with RP server standards but I'm sure that I will pick it up quickly.

If I move here, I'm planning to play a Draenei hunter. She will be reserved, yet compassionate, mostly keeping to herself and spending large amounts of time in the wilderness. Hunting and gathering provides tranquility and sustenance for her; she is not wasteful. She has a soft spot and a protective streak for those in need and a desire to travel all over the world in search of understanding and new experiences. She will most likely bond strongly to a single animal companion. If this sounds like a character that will fit well into your guild, let me know.

Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

Most of the RP guilds on our server don't really have scheduled raids, to my knowledge. That's not to say we can't or won't raid with you -- I know there are several of us in Pia Presidium who would very much like to, but we are RPers first and foremost (and that's primarily where our experience lies as well... so as an experienced raider)

There is a thread stickied on our realm forums that contains a list of all the guilds currently recruiting on our server -- a description of what they're like, if they have a website, etc. It's definitely something to check out. If a guild strikes your fancy, look up some members of it on our server and I can guarantee they'll be glad to help.

Here's the stickied thread:

Now, for the shameless plug..... Pia Presidium's a small guild, but we are a LOT of fun. Your character's desire to help those in need definitely aligns with the guild's protect the innocent mentality, and being a Draenei means that you are already closer to the Light than most of the members of our holy order could ever be. Sounds like a solid match to me. :D
We have a guild portal I invite you to look at: http://piapresidium.guildportal.com
If it appeals to you, fill out an application on our forums!

I will also mention that Manus Ignota is an experienced raiding guild getting started in RP though. You may wish to contact Wolfgaar in-game about that.

How do you see your character interacting in a guild environment, when you mentioned that she likes to keep to herself and hang out in the woods?

What kind of pet does she have, and why?

Thank you for the link. I had glanced over it before but wanted to be sure that it was current information. Your guild sounds interesting. I will definitely be looking into it. :)

Think of her as an arm of the guild, one who will further its aims. If the guild needs her to go to a specific location to undertake an assignment, no doubt she will find herself traveling to get there. Sometimes she may travel alone, sometimes with other members of the guild or even clients of the guild. I made the point to suggest that she would find solace in natural places and have somewhat of an aversion to the noise and fast pace of city life, but that will not prevent her from taking care of her responsibilities.

As far as the pet goes, I'm not sure yet. I'm still thinking on it. It's not so much that I care about a specific species, but I'd like to create a very special bond and I'm not sure how I want to set that up just yet. Perhaps the pet was given to her when she was young, or perhaps she found an injured animal and nursed it back to health. Perhaps it just started following her one day. I think that playing the game may lend itself to this kind of moment.

Coming from a PvP server, the unique emphasis on story here is pretty different to me. I'm used to a highly competitive environment between Horde and Alliance, between guilds within a faction, and even within members of a guild. It's all about having the highest numbers to most of the people I've played with. A guild wanting to bring me in would need to have patience as I adjust to differences in server norms.

I think your reasonings are fairly good.

With the pet though, there are a couple things to consider...

1) If the pet was given to her when she was young, you'd mostly want to pick up a pet either from the Draenei starting area, or somewhere in Outland. Wouldn't make much sense to get a pet from anywhere else.

2) If she happened to turn to the Hunter "art" after showing up on Azeroth, then what kind of pet would she go for, and what would it represent to her?

3) Since you are wanting to move over here possibly and it is after the Cataclysm, you could easily start up as if she was always kind of a lone-wolf style character and liked outdoor places as you mentioned, and only ended up coming across a companion animal that connected to her while she was "out there" somewhere, during when the world was splitting apart. Maybe it was an animal that was transformed during the Cataclysm (like the "new" crabs) or something. You both were scared by what was going on and found each other and took comfort in each other, and that's when you started working together and officially went the way of the Hunter? Would be neat to have a character on the server who had a reason for one of the newer pets rather than "it looks cool".

Just some things to ponder.
