Her Return[RP]

She stood on the docks of Stormwind looking upon her once home, knowing that this day was finally here did little to assuage her fears. She hefted her pack up on her shoulder and started into the city. How long had she been gone. She tried to count the days but they melded into months and then years. Elise sighed as she nodded to a porter, unfamiliar at best.

The city was much changed since her last visit, but she'd had little cause to return until now. Her brother was felled, and his estate needed settled. Idly she wondered if she would have returned for anything but this. No. The answer came unbidden to her mind. So why had it taken her so long to attend to it? He had fallen years prior and Elisienne had let the notices and letters stack up. They would no doubt fill a tome by now with the time that had passed. Finally, she would heed them. Finally she would deal with the last vestige of her past.

The caucophony of the city, the chaos that ensued was nothing compared to the life that the woman had been leading. Once the Lich King had fallen a handful had been asked to remain in the Northlands to act as a clean up crew of sorts. She thought the job futile at best but she was not one to shirk her orders. Besides, what was there for her in the city? Family? No, the only family the young woman had was her brother, Brandon, and their relationship had been strained at best.

She looked back at the docks, the same that had brought her "home" were the those where she'd had her last words with Brandon.

"That's it then?" He asked. He stood looking down at Elisienne with a wry grin. Brandon was nearly six years her elder and often chided her for what he considered to be "the work of lesser people." His ego would indeed have been his downfall years later. Brandon worked in the Keep, or so he claimed to those who would hear of his privilege. He boasted of being advisor to nobility and a money lender. Neither were actually true. He was someone who lived off of chance and the downfall of others. This never sat well with Elise.

"Yes, that's it. The orders have come down and I'm to remain for the time being. It's not the worst outpost in the world, though it is farthest from here, and for that I am greatful. I grow weary of hearing of your misadventures. By all rights of the law you ought to be jailed for half of what they know."

He could only look down upon her rogueishly and it pained her to see his lack of care, for her well being or others.

"Try not to get yourself killed up there Ellie." He joked, using the pet name that he's adopted for her when they were children, knowing the effect that it had on her.

"You do the same." She meant it. His last back alley deal had required intervention by the magistrate and quite a great deal of strong arming to get him out of it.

Little did she know that it would be one of those backwards deals that cost him his life. Knifed in the street for failure to make payment on a loan. She missed him. No. She missed the youth he had been, prior to his corruption. The man that he had become disgusted her.

Elisienne loooked up at the majesty that was Stormwind, taking her steps off the dock and towards the city proper. Time heals all wounds, but it does not allow one to forget, of this she was certain.

When in Stormwind there were a handful of places you could find Elise, though the most common was the harbor. She stood tall, her hands holding one another behind her back, her bright blue gaze fixed upon the horizon looking almost expectant. But she was not waiting, she was reflecting. Nearly two months had passed since she stepped off the boat from Northrend, and before that years since she stepped on it, years since she'd last seen Brandon.

Two months? Was that all? She reached her hand up to her nose, and then to her ear, the holes where the piercings were now closed over. She narrowed her gaze at a passing ship, letting her hand drop.

War in the south was very different from the war in the northlands. When not fighting the elements and the Horde, the Alliance fought amongst itself, each faction seeking to gain a strong foothold in the pecking order. She let out a slight sigh at the thought. "Oh for an enemy of flesh and blood, or bones and magic, who's only purpose is to kill you." She muttered, reflecting on recent events.

Her gaze dropped slightly, staring off at the sea, darting back and forth as a barrage of images assaulted her.

A flurry of undead, wandering the streets of Stratholme. Blades descending upon the innocent, a familiar face, a rogue steeped in shadow, a young private, now known to her.

The rush of the wind was felt upon her face as her mount charged through the basin of Arathi, the familiar sounds and smells of the battle, of sweat and blood and worn armor. Her heart raced.

A stolen smile, and the smells of dinner cooking over an open hearth.

"Good luck finding your brother's remains...." That voice, the malice behind it. She was close, so close, and so was Elise' blade.

"Elise..." His voice called her back, and her blade lowered.

Elise looked up at the horizon, calling herself back from her memories. As she boarded the boat to Northrend to clear her head, she hoped for answers, or at least guidance.
