Cyrus had nodded to Haelolin after he'd finished with the dwarf. "Move the body and get the scene cleaned up. We lucked out, and there weren't any witnesses." Cyrus had wisened up to a few things after joining the Ocheliad. One of them was how to duck the Watch. Nobody had seen the act committed, the proof that the dwarf was even dead was long gone with Haelolin and her drake. He'd gotten off clean, this time.

As he'd walked back past the Recluse toward the Trade District, he called what the dwarf had said:

"Didn' mean tae offend, big blue! I's jus' business, aye!?" The dwarf had spoken in their weird accent when Cyrus' sword had re-emerged. Cyrus had what he wanted in information, but the dwarf had more than Cyrus wanted him to. This dwarf, who had connection to Vasilia, had figured out it was Rillik who was posing as Cyrus.

"You made a bad business move, dwarf. You royally pissed me off," Cyrus said before he brought his sword across in a horizontal cleave to make sure the dwarf didn't have anything else to say.

*********

Cyrus had been out of the city for most of the day following the incident with the dwarf, but he found a reason to venture back in. Imperon had chosen today of all days to come out and visit. Cyrus was sitting across from him, keeping an eye on the assembled Presidium, who seemed to be in the middle of an interview.

His eyes shifted to the railing above the bar. Only a couple druids getting comfortable. No threat there. Just as he's returning his attention to Imperon, who had asked how his day was faring, Rillik Verogoth walked in. Perfect.

Cyrus had motioned Rillik over to discuss what the dwarf had told him. Even if Rillik didn't know it, Cyrus was going about helping Vasilia in his own way. By making sure any loose ends were tied up. Permanently. Though he'd never admit that to Rillik.

Rillik sat back in his chair uncomfortably. He wasn't positive, but it certainly felt like a broken rib or two. The confrontation with Cyrus hadn't gone exactly to plan, but was a success even when you considered the physical altercation they had gotten into.

The smaller death knight had taken a gamble, goading Cyrus the way he had. But, in the end, it had been a wise gamble. He now not only had the information he needed (without having to find a body and raise it as a ghoul for questioning) but also had Cyrus' promise to help in the search, rather than continuing to hamper Rillik's efforts. All it had taken were a few initial insults and a carefully worded "revelation" to gain the Draenei's pity.

Well... Maybe not pity, but enough of an emotional response that he had stayed his blade and agreed to help. Rillik still wasn't sure if Cyrus could feel pity, but he obviously still held something in his heart for Vas.

All Rillik had to do now to keep Cyrus on course was to play on that attachment, carefully. It would do no-one any good if he pushed a little too hard and Cyrus clammed up again.

"Grazzlek, huh?" Rillik pondered to himself. There was an easy way to try to make contact with the Troll, a method Rillik would normally avoid, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Dr. Whistlespark would just have to find a way to deal with him using company resources and lying to the rank and files employees...

((Some interesting events transpired over the last few days... can't wait for Vero to post his take on them; though he is probably still suffering from shock!

Rillik boarded the ship from Ratchet to Booty Bay with little hesitation. The second meeting with the troll had bone well, and he was glad that he had decided to go this one alone. Yotingo had been instrumental in making the first meeting happen, and had kept his word to not mention the meeting to anyone, but Rillik could never expect that Yontingo would keep his mouth shut about the contents of the second gathering with Grazz'lek. Not with what the cartel member had asked Verogoth to do.

Normally, the Death Knight would have outright refused the task that was asked of him, but Rillik Verogoth was not in any form of normality at this point. The search for Vasilia had thus far been long and not very fruitful, and he was losing his patience, along with his vaunted self-control. Performing an off-the-books hit for a drug cartel was no longer out of the question...

The ragged man limped slowly through the archway leading into the courtyard at Caer Darrow, barely keeping himself upright as he shuffled along. When he reached the fountain at the center of the yard, he practically threw himself down into a sitting position on the ground in front of it. How long he sat there, waiting for someone to pass by and notice him, he never knew. He had lost all sense of relative time long ago. Too many nights spent sleepless in the jungles of the Stranglethorn, too many months spent searching for something he was clearly destined never to find.

When he finally looked back up again, curious as to why no one from the AAMS had comeback through the courtyard on some errand or another, he realized why he hadn't been discovered. As he listened for any signs of business, of life, he found that there were none to be heard. He stood, slowly, clumsily, and looked around, searching for any sign of the offices he had helped build and bring to life in this once lifeless ruin.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. They had left. Whether the company was driven out by force or chosen to leave of their own volition wasn't clear, and, frankly, didn't matter. They had left, and they had forgotten him.

Something stirred inside the man, something he had grown very accustomed to during his foray into the jungle. Something he had spent years learning how to control, only to have that control slip away so easily when she hadn't come back. He welcomed the feeling like an old friend, a faithful pet.

They had forgotten him, but they would remember. Soon enough, they would remember...

He was walking a bit more steadily as he returned to the Stranglethorn, his head held a bit higher, expression steeled to what he -must- do.

The cave was just as he had left it, though he wasn't sure why he had expected any differently. He had been forgotten all these long months, why should his temporary base of operations have been noticed abandoned the few days he had left it?

With the news that the AAMS had moved its corporate headquarters to Booty Bay, the man knew that enough had changed since he disappeared to warrant caution and research before he took action. If management was willing to just uproot and abandon all the work the company had put into reviving the community of Caer Darrow, then other changes, both in policy and staff, were likely. He wasn't even sure if the twins were still employed by the AAMS, but their loyalty to him personally made him consider making contact a justifiable risk.

He cleaned up the minor mess that had accumulated over the last few days and began planning his approach.

Kayden pinched himself, not sure that he was actually awake. The encounter had left him considerably confused. He and his brother, Casta, had been certain that the sergeant was gone for good, missing in the jungles of Stranglethorn. Kayden had even half-jokingly wagered that Sarge had fallen victim to the Jungle Trolls.

Yet, here he was, watching the fading figure of the man he once reported to in the AAMS. He wasn't exactly sure what to make of the meeting. Sgt. Verogoth had seemed... off. Kayden knew the Death Knight well enough to know that he had his own struggles with his inner darkness, but Rillik seemed both at peace -and- dangerous, like he was when on one of his "hunting sprees" in the past. It wasn't right.

Kayden gathered himself, waving the maid over to pay for his drinks. He had work to do, if Sarge was to be trusted (and Kayden had never had reason to not trust the man, so why start now?) and Casta would need to be brought up to speed.
