The purpose of the kitten storyline.

To the Homelanders, and to other role players of our community:

After reading through chat logs from the other day, I want to make a statement about the storyline that I am currently leading. You may or may not have realized that it branches off of Gentyl's Going Home thread, and revolves around Faithe's lost kitten. A number of people have made comments about how silly it is for an entire guild to make an effort to return a lost kitten.

I don't disagree with you. I don't think I've ever heard of a large group of people banding together to return a lost kitten to an owner that lives on the other side of the world. So what's the point, you ask? Unity, as role players - and to have fun. Not all role play has to be about great battles of good and evil. I can personally promise you that I won't be offended if you think the whole thing is ridiculous. If you want to participate - well, that's great! I don't care if you help me search for information or if you sit in the Wyvern's Tail laughing with your friends about how loopy Sun must be to want to go to the ends of the earth to return a lost kitten. If you want nothing to do with it, that's fine too - just remember that this was brought about to stir up more RP for Homeland, more RP within Orgrimmar for all of us in the Horde, and more cross-faction RP.

Gentyl has been approaching Poni about interaction between the two guilds for some time now. I decided to take this idea on because Sun is the type to go all the way around the world to do what she feels is right, even for something others may find trivial. That's just who she is.

This is an opportunity for the spotlight to shine on us, Homelanders. This is an opportunity for all to see what a unique, diverse, and fun group of people we are. To everyone else, this is an opportunity to come closer together as a community.

And so I ask you - why not take that opportunity and make the most of it?

I am only interested in this kitten if I may put it on fire.

Is that allowed?

Can't really help but be curious about two things. Sort of. My first question is confusion as to why this is even being posted on the CC forums if this is a Homeland issue. And I can't really help but wonder if you're OOCly hurt over people ICly making fun of Sun at the Wyvern's Tail? Because it definitely comes across that way a little bit.

I have had no personal problems with anyone so far. I completely understand the lines between IC and OOC and was simply stating that it wouldn't offend me if any character reacted to this plotline as the character would, in whatever way. It's important to remember that with any RP plot.

I have no issues with Homeland at all. I love my guild and all the off-the-wall things we do as a family. I simply wanted anyone involved to understand where I'm coming from on this - that it is open to any who are interested - not just Homeland. No pressure if you aren't, and above all else - just be yourself and have fun.

This is the first I've heard anything about a kitten storyline. Is there a post I can refer to for information?

Knowles, this is part of the Going Home story. When Faithe was rescued, her kitten got left behind.

Ah, so I see. I'm curious as to how this has played out in-game. Were people being negative about the kitten search ICly or OOCly?

Knowles, I'm not sure. Sunny can answer, but my understanding is it may be a bit of both. IC is part of the flavor and you roll with it. When people take it ooc then you invite people to ignore what you're doing and move on to others who are anxious to rp.

Going Home was intended from the beginning to be a vehicle to promote cross faction rp and especially to revive world rp pvp.

I know Sunny's player well and I her intention was to give the horde side something to promote rp anyone could get involved with.

Sun just wanted to explain to any who might question why we're doing the storyline and open it up to any who would like to participate and aren't members of Homeland.

So, if anyone would like to participate, mention it to someone in the Homeland guild and we'll get the message to the right people.
