PUBLIC NOTICE

The Anytime & Anywhere Messaging Service will be conducting a charitable raffle to aid local manufacturing businesses still recovering from the Cataclysm. All proceeds will go to skilled artisans of the Horde and the Alliance!

GRAND PRIZE: Mechano-Hog / Mekgineer's Chopper

RUNNER-UP PRIZES (2): Any faction-specific pet, including Argent Tournament pets.

CONSOLATION PRIZES (5): Delightful assortments of food, drink, and flowers from around Azeroth. Sure, you might not have a new bike, but at least you're happy!

Tickets may be purchased from your local AAMS Branch Managers and other officers. Simply inquire at our Branch Offices or in your local hearthstone channels!

Ticket cost: 1000g. No refunds. All proceeds go to charity. AAMS will cover cost of prizes regardless of raffle funds raised. Odds vary based on number of participants. Enter at your own risk! The AAMS cannot be held liable for any damages caused by improper use of prizes. No ticket purchase limit.

Drawing will take place Thursday, January 19th at the AAMS End-of-Year Party. Winner need not be present to collect prize.

Peace, by any means!

If required, I will provide my engineering expertise for the construction of the chopper, if the necessary materials are provided for me to work with.

(OOC note: Would it carry over if it's exchanged cross-faction somehow? I know it would if you faction-swap and it's in your bag - the scorpion/lion mount does, which is how Dev has it in a non-25, non-exalted guild - but I dunno if it would through the means you guys use to exchange goods.)

Da motorocycles both have race requirements (and dey be colored a little differently). I assuming ya COULD transfer dem...but dere'd really be no point to, ya?

((You could transfer the item via the AAMS but it would be useless to the other faction. However, if you have the mount and you transfer your character the mount does change automatically to the other faction's version.))

NOTE TO CHARITABLE DONORS:

We have received messages from several charitable manufacturers and artisans asking whether we would like additional prizes donated. The AAMS is enormously grateful for the support! I would offer two suggestions for these volunteers:

1) We can certainly offer crafted goods as our third-tier "consolation prizes." I would suggest a market value of no more than 1000g (the cost of a ticket), and perhaps no less than 50g or so (though I realize the retail prices can fluctuate day to day). We will list your business as a "Supporting Sponsor" in our promotions.

2) Alternatively, the proceeds of the charity raffle will be spent on supporting local artisans and businesses. If you had a product in mind that would be too expensive or too time-consuming to construct as a prize, why not apply for a grant from the proceeds instead, after the drawing? The AAMS would be happy to fund construction and donate the finished item to someone in need.

We hope both of these options will help encourage the support we've already seen. Again, many thanks from the AAMS to our supporters!

((Sounds like a great idea, but you'll want to be very careful with how you advertise it.

Raffles fall under Blizzard's In-Game Casino rules (http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/in-game-casinos), and, as the article says, it's against ToU to advertise in any way in-game and even on the forums.

Here's an MVP poster's explanation on what is and what isn't okay:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2965116489#11

Players are not allowed to advertise casinos in ANY manner in-game or on the forums. That means whispers, say, yell, Trade, General, Party, Raid, ANY channel in-game is a no-go for letting others know a casino is being run. That also means Character Name, Guild Name, Pet Name cannot be used to blatantly imply a casino. It means posting on the Blizzard forums in any way to announce one's casino is against the rules. That even means playing the game publicly can be against the rules, as the purpose of such would be to attract other players. Getting winners to advertise is also not allowed.
...
Thus, the rule currently is against advertising - in any manner whatsoever. Guilds can advertise on their guild websites and be fine. Friends can make friendly wagers in Vent and be fine. And "Casino" runners, to be allowed to continue, must find their sources of gold external to WOW communication.

So, yeah. It sounds like a good idea, and I may end up buying a ticket or two. Just be very careful with how you go about holding it.))

((We'll be careful, but I'm not overly worried. This is pretty clearly not a casino, and we are pretty clearly not trying to make any kind of profit. Assuming we do make enough in ticket sales to cover the cost of the Mechanohog prize (doubtful), we'll use anything we DO make to fund a follow-up RP where crafters can submit "grant proposals" to the AAMS and get free mats for those cost-intensive patterns right up near 525 skill.

And I'm happy to discuss that with a GM if we need to!))

((Andelia, I'd be willing to donate some gems, cut to the specifications of the winners. I don't have access to Cata epic gems (and I'm too broke to buy them, even with my 85), but I could very easily do two of the "rare" quality per winner--any cut, any color.

((I used to do "vouchers" created by mailing letters and saving a copy, which could be done if you want something tangible to hand over at the drawing.

((Would that help?))

((Pretty sure I have the chopper pattern Horde-side, as well as plenty of other folks. ;) Thanks for asking though!))

((I very much like that idea! "Crafter vouchers" may be something for us to look at in other projects going forward, too. Thank you for both the offer and the idea.))

Come, come...if I can't cover at least PART of the cost of the bike out of ticket sales, I shall end up charging the charity money rather than donating.

Buy a ticket to support your local artisan crafters today!

((We have one ticket sale so far, which means one person is getting a cycle for 1000g guaranteed this Thursday!

Give them a run for their money, eh? Feel free to whisper anyone from the AAMS, either branch, to buy a ticket this week...))

I've been informed that my future fame, glory, and fantastic wealth are not sufficient to cover the 1000g fee.

I'm sure there's been some sort of misunderstanding. The Stormwind Old Town Re-Acquisitions Guild has excellent credit and I'm running a tab with them that well exceeds this figure. It should be simple to work out another thousand.

I've had an aversion to credit ever since dying. I'm sure my untimely demise quite upset some people I still had outstanding bills with, and I'd rather not wind up in their shoes.

Although I suppose technically these are still their shoes. I never did pay off that credit card bill. Hm.

Cash on the barrel only!

Ah, yes. How fortuitous that this notice caught my eye.

What a, mmm, delightful way to honor Lady Commerce.

Expect my gold very soon.

Tickets will be available throughout tonight's party! The drawing will be held at the end of the festivities. Many people have bought more than one, so be sure to get your fair chance by doing the same!

Hint, hint, hint.
