As I'm sure anyone who has attempted to do BGs, Darkmoon Arena or 2v2 Arenas you've encountered your share of Blood DKs, Prot paladins and Feral Druids; Namely Blood DKs. As you are getting stomped by these people you may be wondering: How are they doing so much damage as prot? How can I stop this damage? And what should I put on my sandwich...no wait thats wrong...
To break it down, all Protection specs get a passive stacking buff called Vengeance, what it does is each time you take damage, you gain 5% of that damage taken as Attack Power and it will stack to a max of 10% of the Tanks health. I'm not aware of what the cap is, but I've seen upwards of 14k Attack Power given, which for a lot of these PvP Prot gives them 30k or more Attack Power. With the kinda damage people do now, most Prots can gain full Vengeance stacks in 2-3 seconds.
How can you win? Well, if you aren't a Druid, Hunter, Rogue or have none of these classes as an Arena partner, there isn't much you can do aside from wait for a nerf. BUT, if you are or have a partner who is a Druid, Hunter or Rogue here is how to beat every Prot you ever meet.
Vengeance is considered an Enrage effect and to the three respective classes I've listed that means A single Druid's Soothe, Hunter'sTranquilizer Shot or Rogue's Shiv will remove all the Vengeance Stacks AND each of these abilities apply a 20 second debuff which prevent the Prot from gaining Vengeance. So with this in mind, I wait with fingers crossed to see some of these Prots start losing more often =D
