Assault on Trisfal!!!

(( We can work that out and make it a day when everyone is available. I heard Thursday maybe? I have to agree even tho there was no real harm done, the corpse camping did bother me a bit. It was nothing tho, I'm a glutton for punishment as I continued to run back and die :P . But it would be great if you let us rez and heal a bit before another attack, I'd kindly do the same for you Hordies! Just to make things fair and even for everyone playing. I don't mind the rude emotes, everyone is IC so that's expected to happen and we can't really speak to each other, other then using emotes in-game. So I'm understanding about that. I wouldn't mind following the Pia's guild rule book either. Still not exactly sure what blue flagging is.
*pats Aorune* It's ok we'll be more organized next time! I'm still working on that PvP gear too!))

((blue flagging is you aren't flagged for combat and attack. You are invulnerable until you choose to attack and then attack. Pia loves pvp, but it does need to be better organized next time. Re the corpse camping. If that becomes a problem, we'll leave. There's no sense in just being farmed.))

I think if you want to promote and have more people engage in, and enjoy, world pvp you have to follow some simple rules of conduct or you won’t have them back.

  • people don't like to be camped
  • spat on
  • tea bagged
  • engaged through a blue flag
  • or treated with disrespect.

But I think the most simple rule is type /pvp before you engage. It shows your intentions and willingness to be engaged.

If people are treated with respect then most people don’t care what the outcome of the fight was and will be looking for more. Mutual respect goes a long way.

And as an aside, If you hit a horde town while I am on, I will come and defend no matter the odds.

OOC here, just to address a few things. ((I'd make an IC write up, as well, but Xen and Aro have that covered better than I could do, heh. Rusty on my writing.))

If you're roleplaying as a bitter member of your faction that has so little respect for the avatars on the opposing side, then be original and manually type an original emote that your side can read. You can freely disrespect the characters, but /spit comes across more often as disrespect for the real human players on the other side of the monitor.))

Problem with that is the other side can't really /see/ any of those emotes. Its all "strange gestures" to them, and chances are folks won't even be around to see that. Pretty small window before folks even release to get a point across, at that, and the varying in game emotes are a quick tool for that. Nothing about it being lazy or unoriginal, really - heck, we were having non-stop IC banter throughout the entire thing.

Just explaining the problem with that, of course. You're right in that the vast majority of players take it as an ooc insult, whatever the intent - heck, I know someone that uses it as a PVP taunt, just to get folks to focus him instead of healers, and it works without fail. As such, personally, I tend to avoid it myself (I find it distasteful enough too, but I'm not going to tell anyone not to, unless they're spamming), opting to play up the whole forsaken bit and use emotes like hungry, lick (when targeted on one's self, you lick your lips,) and cannibalizing folks. Conveys a nice IC disrespect, much harder to come across as an OOC flip off. Only time I really will ever spit on someone is when they're being a griefing prat, really, and I want them to know well sure how much I think about them, which isn't generally related to pvp events and the like.

Gotta disagree with you on the bit about planting banners and flags, though, and personally think that's being a bit overly sensitive, but to each their own, and all.

On to some other stuff, the Goddfrey thing - he actually only had like 4k health, and was balanced around level 18s, so someone having him out for the quests didn't change much. I think they died a few times to AoE, even. We just played it off ICly as my mirror images, since Godffrey is dead lore wise, and all. Still, was kind of amusing, heh.

Addressing an angry whisper I got the other night that I didn't much have time to respond to before they logged off, on the subject of blueflagging, I can quite assure you we made an effort to avoid any of that - I hate it, and made sure that anyone whose flag dropped would put it back up, so I'd appreciate to not be called a blueflagger. For the bit about it being tough on lowbies, yeah, but that's just the nature of the game these days, really. There's such an exponential difference every set of "expansion levels" jump that there's not right a lot one can do anymore without being a certain level in pvp events. Tried not to pick on the little guys too bad (key word too bad there), and tried to keep folks off them when they weren't doing anything (not counting things like summoning or rezzing, that makes you a target) but it is pretty fun to try and blow them up in more creative ways every now and then, so long as one isn't being aggressively proactive about it. (Which I personally tried to avoid, but I know at least one person was at it.) Long story short on that, don't want to discourage lowbies from participating, but they better be sure to expect to die, quite a lot. Silly to think otherwise, and if they're going to get upset about it, they should probably wait til they're closer to the level cap.

As for camping, yeah, I'll concede to that happening more than would be proper, but that's something that happens at every single pvp event, honestly. You rez, folks are going to chase you down, its just a part of things to try and escape and regroup in secret fast enough to not be found. Folks like to say they have rules against it or don't do it, but I can assure you that it happens just as much even then, from personal experience and just observation. Doesn't help that most of the time folks attack others the moment they're back alive, tends to encourage folks not to wait if they see someone. About the only times folks don't get shot as they pop up is when its very organized PvP - ie, no rezzing until your entire team is dead, round 1 and round 2 type fights, ect. Not very common unless its planned between two groups. It's just something people have to deal with and accept.

That said, there is something of an acceptable amount of camping,, you could say. Targeting a level 45 every moment they're up to dive bomb murder them when they're trying to eat or flee, not so much okay. Taking out a group as they summon in reinforcements, or the 85 as they blow cds and target you, whole different story. (Although I would like to say I did feel somewhat bad after murdering you in the air, Luptia - I just can't resist trying to kill people while they're flying. It's just something I have to do, no matter the situation - Spot flagged flier, try to kill it.)

All that said, I quite enjoy RP-PvP, so would be happy to attend any of the varying events in the future. I try to keep an eye on the varying forum threads that indicate any attacks, especially if they're targeted against the Forsaken lands, so.

Right, think I've rambled on long enough. Probably forgot a thing or two, so may have to edit this post in the future, but yeah. Speaking of, seems I hit the character limit. Gotta break this post in half.

Ah, yes I did notice people turning back into blue but right away re flagging themselves. I actually turned PvP on myself so I wouldn't turn blue during the battle. Which at that moment Raoul creamed me on my rocket. It's what I get for flagging myself while still mounted and not paying attention to my surroundings. But no worries, Raoul. I can always fire my arrows back at ya. It would be great if we could PvP mounted. As for Godfrey, I didn't know he was dead for good lore wise, just thought he was undead. I may have not been paying attention during a quest or something. But we can play it off as your mirror images confusing the attacking Worgen pack. :) And also for emotes I will /growl /bark and /roar so I hope no one gets offended by these actions. Lup is just an angry wolf at the Forsaken and Horde. OOCly I'm a big puppy dog. :3
