Commander Turncutt was in an unusually good mood. Gentyl suspected it was a combination of downing some horde who needed downing and a particularly fine bottle of whiskey someone had gifted him for defending their farm. She might have objected to him drinking the whiskey if she weren't sure of the source. The Regent Tenwit had, after all, "offered" to poison Turncutt several times so Gentyl could be free of the old fool. She sometimes wondered if he really was an old fool. She certainly didn't have a domestic bone in her body. The ship's cook had banned her from the galley. Pia had banned her from the kitchen and someone in Stormwind had issued some fool proclamation about fining any establishment that allowed her to use their kitchen. She couldn't sew to save her life. Turncutt, on the other hand, was a fair hand with a needle as were all sailors she supposed. She could be neat when the notion took her, but no one ever accused her of keeping an immaculate house. If it was clean to the point she could find what she wanted, she was happy. Turncutt's cabin boy had chased her out of the cabin when someone apparently cast a domestic spell on her and she decided to clean and polish the cabin. He had shooed her out with grave warnings about what would happen if she rearranged a single thing in the cabin or polished it with what he termed that lubber's lard.
And so, even though she was a horrible wife in most respects, he seemed happy and that was enough. But, this morning, he was particularly happy. He took another sip of whiskey, leaned against the ship's rail and listened to her playing the lute he had given her long ago.
"I realize that whiskey was a gift, Commander, and I think it was very kind of them to thank you. However, please be careful about drinking things people send if you don't know where it's coming from. The Regent has mentioned more than once how easy it would be to poison some wine and 'free' me."
He waved a hand in dismissal. "I don't know why you worry about the things he prattles on about. He's harmless."
"Harmless? He sent you a letter saying he had seen me cavorting in the hedges with Kod!"
He smiled. "Yes, that was an interesting letter...and some interesting positions." He winked at her.
She could feel her face burning bright as she looked around to see if anyone had overheard him. "I'm going to kill him."
He laughed. "Why do you pay attention to him? He's all bluff and bluster. I never credit any of his fantasies." He leaned over and kissed her, then deftly changed the subject. "I was thinking about days gone by with the Tenth. We used to have Bloody Sunday. I think it's time to revive it."
And with that he launched into stories about the glory days of the Bloody Tenth Legion and she understood why he was so happy. Turncutt was many things, but mostly he was a warrior who stirred to the sound of battle.
((So, here's the proposition. I was visiting with Turncutt this morning about some of the old pvpers and he talked about when the Tenth Legion started Bloody Sunday. I understand the reasons many people don't perma flag. This isn't a discussion about that and please don't tell me if you wanted to perma flag you would roll on a pvp server. I've already heard all the arguments pro and con. We don't need another discussion here. What this is, is simply a call to arms one day a week. Flag up on Sunday and be ready to wage war. Bloody Sunday.
Here is one reason I find this appealing. We've amassed a sizable amount of money to be awarded to people who down certain horde characters. Sizable. The problem is, as it sits now, the only way someone can really collect these rewards and advance this aspect of the rp stories is to contact the characters and tell them they've been sent to attack them so they will flag up. It would be nice if it were a bit more spontaneous than that.
For instance, the times Gen got attacked at Troubadour Night was kind of fun, totally unexpected and definitely stirred things up. Now, that's not an invitation to kill her every week, but it was kind of interesting. The Pang and Icharus attacks are always fun because they are never expected.
So, there's the proposition. Bloody Sunday. Flag up for this one day out of the week and gird yourself for war. Hopefully, we'll also have some events going on in this vein.))
