Ironforge Guard

Hey ya fellow RPers!

In light of recent events (and fun had as a member of the SCW) I thought we really need a guild to represent Protection and Police efforts within Ironforge. So, I have recently created the Ironforge Guard.

I thought I'd announce my intentions to the community, and put a couple of things before you before its finalized.

You're thoughts, input and support is important to me.

1) Support.
As many of you know, IF is a ghost town. All of the action takes place in SW. So RPing in and around IF would naturally be difficult, and with the limited number of Rpers...I can imagine building up the RP scene over there will be slow going. SO, my question i guess would be "Do you think this is a good idea?"

I personally can see the need of at least having an established RP entity representing IF and Dun Morogh...even if the guild itself isn't very active...especially in the beginning. It would open up more doors for creative RP events, and such. But that's just my point of view. What's yours?

2) Organization.
Right now I'm enjoying my RP experience within the SCW, and would like to finish leveling Kael at the very least to 80. I'm notoriously a slow level'er (by choice), so to be honest IFG wouldn't be fully running on its "RP legs" for some time.

I am casually doing some lore research to try and properly 'organize' IFG, so that when it does get running on all four "RP cylinders"...it'll be primed to go! So if anyone want's to chat with me about that aspect and offer advice, I'm all ears.

So here there it is, in all its splendor.

What do you think?

I think this is a great idea, and would help spread out the hotspots for RP. There used to be a tavern next to the warrior and hunter trainers area that got some activity--maybe you can revive that area again.

I do wonder though: dwarf and human cultures are different. Will the laws and punishments be different too? Might be an interesting realm to investigate--that and how the Ironforge Guard and the Stormwind Watch bicker back and forth about the correct way to carry out justice. Even inside Ironforge, I imagine gnome and dwarf laws would be different. Lots of potential plothooks there, too.

I wish I had an empty character slot to help you out. Not only do you have a guild to lead, but you might have to find a way to get the RP traffic to flow towards Ironforge, as well. But I think that hard work would be well worth the reward--If there's anything the Terra can do to help, just let me know!

Crabby says I should post here. I think this is a great idea, and I might some day shake loose my other Dwarf to join it.

I imagine the laws and punishments would, indeed, be different. I can talk more about it later; I just found a few minutes to stop by and contribute. For starters, the Brotherhood would gladly helo with designing or supplying parts of the uniform, including the all-important Dwarf-made guns.

I'll think about what a Dwarf would call such a group tonight, and I'll get back to you after I've returned home. :D

Awesome :) Thanks for your support and input.

I have been considering that difference, and I'm starting to casually delve into it. For the moment I really like the frame work SCW has come up with...so I'll likely adapt from that.

However I've noticed that IF lacks any kind of Stockades, so arrests will be interesting :)

Good thought about that inn as well. I'll see what I can do about that.

Hehe, that's awesome :) I was wondering about how to put together their guard uniform. I don't remember seeing anything like it in the way of drops or BS patterns.

I am sure that our Sepha would approve if I gave a couple of days to support the Iron Forge Guards. It was the Tilted Dwarf so many years ago that was a weekly event to look forward to. I could serve as host for just such a thing again. Also the Storytelling night happens there in Ironforge. Maybe we could host a bar after that? I love this idea.

You know, the Ironforge Constabulary sounds...cumbersome. I like it, though.

While I'm not opposed to running a guild, nor do I lack the capacity to do so, I've found it to be a bigger challenge in the past than I was able to handle at that time.

Running a guild is hard work. Running an RP guild is harder *imho*. And running an RP Watch guild would posse certain unique challenges.

Pia will help any way we can, but I'd like to offer another solution. Stay in the SWCW and ask orwyn to let you set up an Ironforge division. That way you don't have the hassle of trying to set up a new guild and the stress of growing it and dealing with the problems. This could be an incentive to SWCW to open a branch office and recruit some awesome gnomes and dwarves.

Bael Modan Regiment was an awesome guild that defended dwarven interests. Pia does answer defense call so we will help you with that as we can. IC you can have people patrolling IF and we can get the tavern going again.

Contact me in game. I can put you in touch with some awesome dwarf rpers. They are guilded, but I'm sure they will help.

What are the real Ironforge guards called?

You could also do a Mountaineer group instead of the Ironforge guard. Their uniform might be easier to find. Or maybe have uniforms for both? I'm not sure what the lore difference is there, except that one's found only in the city and the other one is all over outside in Khaz Modan.

Thanks, Oskor!

With those as a foundation, I think we can work out uniforms of all-cloth/leather/mail/plate for transmoggability.

That's exactly what they are called, the "Ironforge Guard" :) So it would fit well if we were just patrolling the city me thinks. So your suggestion of the Mountaineer's would work really well, seeing as how we would be patrolling several regions; and you're correct. The Mountaineer's are seen all over Kahz Modan. So that has given me something more to ponder.

It almost seems to me that it would be proper for those two 'factions' (if you will) to be separate guilds...but clearly given the size of the community, our activity, so on and so forth...I'm now thinking that maybe setting a Rank within the IFG to Mountaineer, and thus making it a division of the Guard for that time beeing. Until of course someone wants to tackle one or the other. :)

Great input! Thanks Lahkin :D

I really like this suggestion as well...and I've been giving it some thought. I only need to toss it around OOC with SCW and see what sticks.

Thank you Gentyl for your insight :D

Ironforge Guard is officially formed.
I've updated the original post to reflect that.

Though the name is set, its organization isn't. At the moment I'm thinking of having a Mountaineer branch within the guard. So, Mountaineer will be a rank, which will be under one of the lieutenants. Ultimately the Mountaineers will be under the Guard's supervision.

What do you think of this?
