Thrown to the Wolves

Blue eyes flashed open to receive a view of stone work. Her hands slowly grasped out, touching the comfort that she was laying in. ‘A bed?’ The woman thought, noticing how loose her body felt. Caelynne’s eyes shifted, looking to the opening of the cell. Bars lined the open wall, and she saw the two figures in familiar uniforms. She let out a deep breath, her head shifting to look back up to the ceiling. ‘That’s right, Stormwind. They were taking me to the city.’ Hands began to grab on to the sheets on the bed, her body quickly tensing as she began to speak.

“They didn’t come,” the young woman whimpered. “I failed.”

Caelynne’s eyes shut again, tears beginning to run down her cheeks as she began to mutter the mantra under her breath to calm herself, not allowing the panicked thoughts to disturb her anymore. “Order through atrocity. Peace through fear. Faith in Modas il Toralar. Order through atrocity. Peace through fear. Faith in Modas il Toralar. Praise him!”

A smile crept over her lips; the muscles in one of her legs began to spasm. “Perhaps this is his will, their will! Perhaps it is that they desire me to be here and I am to die!” The thoughts disturbed her, as she began to recall the occurrences before she was transferred. She could still see the gnome, spilling the bucket of water so it pooled where she was forced to kneel with her feet and arms bound to the wall. The gnome had held a device, which had emitted small bolts of electricity. He lowered it, closer, and closer to the puddle she was bound in.

Caelynne’s scream echoed in her cell, shooting up in her bed. “I’m a sacrifice! A SACRIFICE! They won’t kill me now! Oh, no.” The woman began to giggle uncontrollably, her body trembling as she pulled her legs up, staring out of the cell in the stockades. “I am dying for them and they will love me for it, but they cannot say it! Oh no. I have no friends anymore, no one left. All I can do is now is to wait. Just wait.” She said to nobody in particular, not caring if anyone heard her anymore.

“Order through atrocity. Peace through fear. Faith in Modas il Toralar. Order through atrocity. Peace through fear. Faith in Modas il Toralar. Order through atrocity. Peace through fear. Faith in Modas il Toralar.” She muttered, continuing to speak the words as her giggling began to stop, her body relaxing as if the mantra was a calming phrase.

It had been unexpected when Lady Thelinna had come to the sanctum Stormwind this time. She appeared through the portal as Caelynne was sitting down and reading through some of the books that were stored in the area. Her employer, the man she served as an assistant to, was sitting in the far corner. As the woman appeared, both Gilnean’s shot up from their seats. “Lady Thelinna!” They both called out, both bowing low in the presence of the woman.

The woman smiled slightly, glancing around the sanctum. “How is it that you live in this pig sty? This place is dark and cold; you do not keep it organized. It must have been from the previous pups we kept down here.”

Caelynne chimed up quickly, keeping her head low. “I am sorry that our mess displeases you, my lady. We do not have the slaves you have. We do our best to-”

“That is quite enough, pup.” Romalius called out, shaking his head. “I apologize, Lady Thelinna. Caelynne was only trying to please you.”

Thelinna seemed to have disregarded Romalius’ comment, moving closer to Caelynne. “I have use of this one. I’d rather send her out since she knows less than you do.”

Caelynne’s eyes went wide, and she bowed low once again. “My lady, I would be honored to serve you in any way I can.”

Thelinna moved closer to the young woman, holding out her hand and stroking boney fingers through Caelynne’s auburn hair. “Mmm, it is a shame you have the tendency to turn into a pup, I could see other uses for you.” The undead elf pulled her hand back, looking the Worgen in the eyes. “My dear, your services are required not to just serve me, but for the whole of our order. You know of our recent destruction of the Pillar of Honor headquarters?”

The young woman nodded. “My lady, I believe everyone in Stormwind fears Lord Aziel and you after that great victory.”

“Well, I need several tasks done from you, in regards to this. I need you to check the damages in the building, get a count of the dead and the survivors. I also need you to find out the location of Timeus, and his condition. In addition, I would like you to look into Terra Incognita. I need to know what their headquarters are like, who is there. I also need you to gather more information on the one known as Kordrion.”

“I will do as you desire, my lady.” Caelynne agreed with unquestioning loyalty.

Caelynne’s eyes opened wide as she looked up to the ceiling, recalling the event. “They wanted me. They had wanted me to do this for them, and it was only I who could get it done. Oh yes, it was me they wanted to do this! I failed them, and I deserve this!”

Caelynne landed in Aerie Peak, her nerves heightened as she looked around. She was coming in the guise of looking to find out more information about Terra Incognita and possibly looking to join. She reminded herself of this as she slowly made her way down to the keep. She was greeted by a man, and another woman who seemed to also be interested in finding out about the order as well. Caelynne greeted them both with a smile, listening as the one she soon learned to be Kordrion began speaking, asking them both questions.

“Caelynne Rousse,” she introduced herself as when asked. The lot seemed friendly enough, but she had information to find out.

“So, what did you want to find out?” Kordrion asked, as her eyes flickered over to the staircase. A large Worgen man whom she quickly recognized as one who had been several times taken by Modas il Toralar. If he knew who she was, it would not turn out well for her, and her mission would fail. She kept looking to him nervously. “Oh, that is Jonathan Harmarth.”

“Oh! Not everyone is used to this, here,” Harmarth said, shifting his form to a much more pleasant sight of his human form. He smiled slightly, and Caelynne nodded in return, keeping her eyes focused on Harmarth. She hadn’t been informed of his involvement here.

“Oh, uh,” Caelynne murmured, glancing back to Kordrion. The conversation went back to the Gilnean who was there as well. She was young, and seemed to be there actually out of interest. Caelynne took a step back, eying the doorway and the glancing to Harmarth again.

“Are you okay there, Miss?” Someone asked as she was slowly moving towards the day. Everyone was looking at her. She could feel their eyes on her and she knew they knew. She tensed, turning quickly to the door. Caelynne bolted out the door, running as quickly as she could manage. She was heading towards the gryphon master, so she could catch a flight before they suspected anything.

“Hey, where’s she going?”

“Get her!”

She could hear the yells of people as she ran, her heart pumping. She was halfway up the steep hill when she felt a Worgen leap on top of her, pinning her to the ground and growling in her face. She closed her eyes and felt the man grab her by the arm, turning her around and pushing her back in the direction of the keep.

Caelynne was breathing heavily, her arms twitching in the tight grasp of Harmarth’s claws. His hand went back to her shoulder, digging in to her clothes.

“Probably scared of all the worgen,” A younger girl commented as they came back into the room.

“I am not scared of Worgen, idiot. I am one!” Caelynne commented, her forms shifting from her human to show her curse.

“Hey, I’m not an idiot!” The girl called out.

“Who are you?” Someone questioned quickly.

Caelynne smiled at the question, laughing bitterly. “Order through atrocity…” She murmured, starting to murmur the mantra of Modas il Toralar.

She could feel the tighter grasp of Harmarth’s hand on her shoulder. Caelynne simply laughed more at the response, knowing full well that she hit a sore spot among their enemies.

“Bring her down to my office,” Kordrion on insisted, as Caelynne could feel the Worgen behind her pushing her in the direction of the stairs. As she walked on, she began murmuring the mantra under her breath.

“Order through atrocity. Peace through fear. Faith in Modas il Toralar.”
