The Darnassian Forum is looking for bright, charismatic speakers for its opening weeks.
Who are we?
The Darnassian Forum is a venue like no other: inviting the outspoken members of the Alliance nations to opine on issues of the day, scientific, economic, or political theories, historical interpretations, or subjects of a more technical or specialized nature. We invite, for speakers, listeners, and those who would like to participate in the discussion, a new topic and a new speaker each week, and a wide range of topics to entertain.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for speakers who are...
Speakers will be compensated for a sum of 250 gold pieces, and will be provided lodging and meals for the duration of their stay.
Additional Note: Prohibited topics and topic approval.
Please note that the Darnassian Forum will not entertain overtly insulting, offensive, or dangerous speech. Below is a short list of certain prohibited topics, this list is not exhaustive, and is subject to change.
To ensure the appropriateness of proposed topics, all speaker requests will be reviewed by Warden Kyalin Raintree, who also reserves the right to call for a brief pre-approval interview for certain topics.
Interested? Please send us a letter including your name, occupation, proposed speech title and topic, along with a brief description of your proposed speech. Please allow two to three days for a reply.
((OOC))
So, in an attempt to stir up a little bit of RP in Darnassus, the Darnassian Forum will be held each week (depending on speaker availability) on either Thursday, Friday, or Saturday at 6:30pm. (No, I'm not sure yet, yes it is subject to change)
The event starts with a speaker: one person who is given no more than thirty minutes to make a speech on a given topic, followed by a Q&A/Discussion section. The speaker of course must remain to answer questions. To prevent a barrage of questions from being sent at once, a line will be formed at the beginning of the session. Each questioner will be allowed one question, unless they rejoin the line from the end.
As the IC portion implies, I will be watching the topic choices carefully. Kyalin doesn't want this sort of event being a problem for her or for anyone else charged with similar duties wherever they may be. She's also not going to permit someone to say bad things about her people, and the first person who suggests that Elune is a Naaru is going to end up in a barrow prison for a few days... There are other topics that I won't permit from an OOC standpoint either. The big one is a blatant guild advertisement. You can hint to them, or mention them offhand, and guilds can certainly sponsor speakers (put up the 250 for them to speak and have their name mentioned on the event advert for that speaker), but I don't think that anyone wants to sit through a half-hour infomercial.
As a final OOC note: Yes, the 250 gold per speaker is something that I am willing to put up in terms of actual gold. 50 upon approval, the remaining 200 upon completion of the Q&A session, although in the case of sponsorships, that something that would have to be worked out with the sponsor.
If all goes well, I hope to have the first event up by next week, but that can't happen without a speaker! If you're interested, please mail me in-game!
