On the edges of Ratchet, a relatively new building had been raised, the wooden sign on bore an image of a moon rising over the water. The porch, complete with rocking chairs and a porch swing, was vacant, and a slight hum of conversation drifted out of the doors that were propped open.
A male Blood Elf stood behind the bar, beside him a Gnome perched on a rolling stool. The two men chatted companionably and wiped glasses down. The tavern was cool compared to the heat of the day outside. The quiet buzz of conversation was accented by the sound of the port town. Dock workers called back and forth to one another, and the sound of the bustling commerce was everywhere. The barkeepers kept up a slow conversation with one another.
"Hey, Tal'ethi, you seen any of those Rising Sun folks recently?"
"No, Gig, I have not," the Blood Elf responded.
Grinning, the diminutive man gestured to a woman in the corner, "I think she's one of them, you should go talk to her, buddy! She might know something about getting you in, or she might be the woman you've been looking for."
Tal frowned, "She's wearing a wedding ring, idiot."
Falling silent, Gig went back to wiping glasses for a moment, "You were looking hard enough to notice that?"
The drab decor in the room was simple, wood furnishings an paintings on the wall, as well as a large map of Azeroth. The common room was simple enough, and the two men smiled as they looked around. On a rack behind the barkeepers, fifteen keys hung from hooks for the rooms upstairs.
The patrons themselves were a mixed group, Horde and Alliance commingled, or not, as their personalities suited them. Behind the bar, a doorway led to the kitchen, where a Human and an Orc worked to provide food.
At a table off to one side, a Blood Elf woman sat quietly, reading a book and writing on a sheet of parchment. In front of her was arrayed a number tomes, a black book with odds and ends peeking out of the covers, and a piece of soap hanging from it, a green leather book that was laying open to a page about the Common language, and a small, purple, cloth bound book that bore no markings on the cover.
Kel'tira Sunblaze cursed under her breath as her quill snapped again. Drawing her dagger, the Blood Elf paladin sharpened her writing utensil to a fresh point and resumed her painstaking practice. The Common language something she had set herself to learning, she was not to be deterred by a broken quill.
Taking a drink from the mug by her elbow, Kel looked around the room, She was one of the relatively few people there. No doubt others would turn up. Sighing, she turned back to her work, forming words silently and feeling the strange syllables roll off her tongue.
Her red hair fell from her messy bun around her face, and her fine features were partially obscured. Her armor was piled by her chair, her sword and shield were d!%!!d over the back of her seat. Her red tabard showed a white, rising sun.
