Lunaeis and the Pack Form

((Hello Cc, I have been playing wow since Molten Core was the place to be. I have been on frostmane since 2004 up until the last few months. I have never experienced RP and thus far I am thoroughly enjoying myself. The best part is taking this warrior I have had for nearly 8 years now and giving him life. The story to follow is the story of Lunaeis. I am not a writer and my knowledge on lore is still growing...as a raid junky lore was ignored but I am taking the time to learn and if you read any major flaws please feel free to enlighten me. Thank you.))

He matches my every step, the faster I run the more ground he gains. When at last I believe to have lost the beast he appears before me. Pinned under his massive weight I stare deep into his silver stained eyes. There is no love, no happiness locked within this beast, only rage. This rage consumes all and the very essence of my soul begins to weaken to its thirst. Again I awake covered in sweat at the nights last dream. It haunts me, the beast never leaves, always lurking in the shadows of my heart.

I was born the son of Talendrill Lightfall, a Night elf Ambassador who often sat at the kings table of Stormwind and was accepted as an ally to many of the Wrynn household. It was there he met Abigaile Hunter, one of the queens personal maids who he had grown fond of. Over many months and many visits they had fallen in love with another. As a grace of gratitude to my father the King of Stormwind had persuaded his queen to allow her maid to be released of her servitude so that she could be with my father. About a year later, as my mother tells it, I was born in our home in Dolanaar.

My families lineage lies in the great stories of Goldrinn. My father never fostered the wolf blood that surged through our veins and unfortunately I learned too late why. When I was but 12 I came home after a day of teachings with my Shan’do to find my mother embraced by Sharadin, one of my fathers comrades, she was weeping in his arms. While my father was returning from one of his quest to Stormwind he and his men were attacked and although he was able to save his men he did not make it through the battle. It wouldn’t be till much later in my life until I would know the full details of my fathers last day. Had I known then what I know now so much may have been different.

While my father was alive his name garnered me a certain amount of respect amongst my teachers and my peers. My Father had earned the trust of many men and was seen as a great diplomat and a strong Druid amongst the Kaldorei. But with his passing, new men filled his place and the respect of my pears dwindled in time. What remained was the fact that I was only half blood and not a true Night Elf, it didn’t help that as a grew older my features resembled my human side more than my elf. Without close examination you could hardly tell I had any elf blood at all. Classes were not easy, my human sided hindered me, the other kids were faster, stronger, and more agile then I. But what I lacked in physical strengths I vastly exceeded in rage and the great wolf blood that poured through my veins only intensified my ferocity.

Ralaar, son of my fathers sister saw this inside of me. Ralaar was much older then I and nearing the end of his studies. He was a druid like few others having mastered spells and abilities many his age didn’t dare attempt. He was arrogant but as a young half-blood I was eager to have someone to look up to. It was Ralaar that first taught me the pack form and of our common ancestor Goldrinn. I liked the power, and Ralaar could see how the strength of my human will fed off the powers of the pack. Ralaar, Arvell his closest friend and I would often go to the far corners of Teldrassil and practice our forms. The two were more experienced but I had grown bigger and stronger in my age, besting them on many occasions. Ralaar and I began to expand our teachings to new pupils and we grew.

(Part 2)

((I will continue to add as I go to this original post...thank you for reading...looking forward to meeting other rpers in game))

The demons of our past, those left behind from the great wars began growing in numbers. Ralaar and I had confidence in the abilities of our pack. Many of us had graduated and belonged to the royal army and were eager to see battle and give our form a true test and prove its worth in the eyes of others. A marauding group of Satyrs had been attacking villages and Malfurion had given the command for us to go to the mainland and eradicate this menace. Our pack had grown to 34 strong we accompanied a small force of about 100 fighters. It didn't take long to find the enemy we sought, their numbers were greater then anticipated numbering near a 1,000 but that did not deter Ralaar. Our pack lead the charge. Ralaar, Arvell and I tore through the ranks of the demonic horde. We slew so many that we became drenched in the blood of those who fell before us and the lust for more grew. We became lost within our own minds and one problem began to grow, we were beginning to run out of enemies. The few remaining demons ran off into the shadows of the forest but our bloodlust was not quenched, and the beast within us did not define friend or foe and my pack began turning on each other and those around us. Malfurion had sensed our desire to use the pack form and with the power of Cenarian himself was able to lull the attacking members of my tribe into a deep trance. It was enough to break us of our hold.

Malfurion had encouraged druids to explore the nature of their souls and seek out the forms that most closely aligned with their hearts but not this form. It was too dangerous. It could not be controlled. Malfurion forbid the use of the pack form from ever being used again, and in the process created the Cenarion Circle as a means to structure the teachings of druids as a way to create a path of study that lead away from the pack form and maintained the traditional arts of druidism. This did not sit well with Ralaar and he drew into seclusion. I followed him, I would have followed him anywhere. But Arvell and the others felt honor bound to uphold their rank in the army against the Demonic forces that threatened our people.

Within weeks of Malfurions forbidding there was a large attack on a military outpost, one held by Arvell and his men. Outnumbered and out armed they fought, if only Arvell would have given the command his men would have again taken the wolf form and would have been able to fight the forces back. Arvell heeded Malfurions orders...to his death. Along with many others of our pack. Arvells love Velysra, priestess of Elune and close friend to Ralaar and I was distraught over the loss. Ralaar and Velysra blamed Arvell's death on Malfurion. The two new the wolf was the answer to this new war with the Satyrs but first they had to show Malfurion that it could be controlled.

The elders told stories of Elune and Goldrinn, Elunes presence in the night sky enraged Goldrinn and Elune had always sought out a means to tame the beast. It was Ralaar and Belysra that hatched the idea that perhaps with the staff of Elune, an ancient staff embued with the essence of Elune herself passed down among the high priestess and the Fang of Goldrinn could be infused and bring about a means of controlling this ancient form. Ralaar called together the Pack to experience this new awakening, a marriage of both the powers of Elune and Goldrinn. But what happened next was not what either had expected. Ralaar commanded his brothers to once again take on their pack forms, but instead the transformation continued. Not man and not wolf, we turned into something else, something darker....we became the WORGEN.

(part 3)
It worked, there was a sense of control we had never had before. It was as if the rage that had once consumed us was now locked away in a cage, rattling the bars but contained all the less.

Ralaar and I had heard that of some of Arvells pack had broken off, he left one night and came back with many followers. He told me he was now to be referred to as Alpha Prime. In our new forms of both wolf and man we grew stronger outside the gaze of Malfurion's watch. When We had heard wind that there was to be a great battle between the Kaldorei and the Satyr army we rallied the pack. We would show our Brothers that we could be a great weapon for our people.

It was a rallying victory and our pack served it's purpose well, more impressive was the fact that when the battle was over we were able to contain our lust for blood and were able to welcome our comrades in a joyous victory. I do believe even Malfurion was pleased. When I had thought all had gone well I looked upon Ralaar. I could see the rage in his eye's, the Satyrs were dead or fleeing. I shook him hard, "Ralaar! Whats wrong"

He responded, "They killed him but its his fault."
I questioned Ralaar, "Who's fault for what?"
"Malfurion." He seethed. "If he hadn't forbid the wolf form, the one true form, Arvell would be alive with us today. He will pay."

Ralaar turned and charged towards Malfurion. Others of the pack charged in without question. All was lost, the others began attacking those who stood guard in front of Malfurion. Malfurion as strong as he was could not stand up against the pack that stood before him. I saw off into the distance as Malfurion took flight and left the battle. Those now bitten were succumbing to something, they were beginning to change. I stood in horror. We had finally gained the respect we had sought so long for and in a moment Ralaar's desire for revenge superseded the good of the pack.

Belysra, Arvell's love and the priestess who helped us forge the Scythe was broken. She had hoped that in helping Ralaar she could bring justice for Arvell's death but not this, not the Kaldorei turning on one another and not this Curse that is spreading amongst the ranks. She knows what she must do. She had to take the Scythe of Elune to Malfurion.

She had reached Malfurion and explained what had happened just before Ralaar and his men had caught up with Malfurion. I had tried to have Ralaar see reason. And I had made the choice that if it came down to it I would stand in Ralaar's way should he attack the heart of our people. Malfurion may have been right along about the pact form. As Ralaar aproached he could see Belysra standing with Malfurion now holding the Scythe of Elune. Before I or Ralaar could make a move Malfurion gripped the scythe and speaking in a tongue that sounded more ancient then time itself he slashed through the air. In it's wake grew a shadowy hue, a force stronger then any I have ever felt began drawing myself in. I looked upon my pack, they to were being drawn to this power. We fought in vain, Gaedrin, one of Ralaar's new comers was first to fall. As he neared the purplish presence it drew him in and he disappeared. Then more fell into what must have been a portal. With Malfurions powers and the powers of the Scythe he had torn through the fabrics of reality and the Emerald dream. One by one it tooks us all.

We were thrust upon the Emerald dream, in a physical presence we existed within this dream world. We were cast beneath the great tree of legend, Daral'nir. It is said it could calm the most wild of beast. The pack began to succumb to its presence. One by one we settled down under its mighty limbs. And there we slept never expected to wake again.

((Well, as you ask--and please don't take me as trying to be a jerk about this--there's a major timeline issue I spotted: The night elves have only been in contact with Stormwind for about ten years (since the Third War), and that is a firm, no-exceptions rule as far as I'm aware. Same is true of Dolanaar; Teldrassil's been around for only about that long. Your guy's going to be about nine years old at the oldest.

((Also, how does the "wolf blood" factor in? As far as I know, all the night-elven Druids of the Pack--that is, the first worgen--completely lost it and had to be locked in the Emerald Dream. I'm not sure if there are any who've been retrieved from that madness, canonically, although I don't claim to be an expert on nelf lore. That locking-away happened around the War of the Satyr, several thousand years ago.

((There's a Wowpedia article on half-kaldorei, but Wowpedia appears to be misbehaving at the moment and not loading properly sometimes. The article relies on the old RPG books, which aren't authoritative anymore, but absent anything else I tend to fall back on them. This article specifies that half-kaldorei look more night-elf than human, so make of that what you will.

((Again, not trying to be mean. This would be a great story for Warcraft if the timelines matched up. There might be ways to salvage most of it, in fact, although I'm not quite familiar enough with nelf lore to know exactly how at the moment.))

((It's quite possible some of the night elves that got locked in the Emerald Dream are out and about. After all, in the worgen starting area, you meet some night elves, and it's not clear whether they've been sent from Teldrassil or the like for the Scythe, or whether they're the redeemed worgen-nelves themselves. Being that they know the ritual to undo the worst bit of the curse, I'm thinking more worgen-nelves.

((There's also one worgen-nelf in the lore, who was supposedly locked in his worgen form, and very active during the fall of Gilneas in going around and biting people. I don't recall if he regained his humanity (elfanity?), but that's at least one example of a worgen-nelf escaping the Dream, not counting the ones Arugal and the Scythe summoned willy-nilly all over the place in Ashenvale, Duskwood, and Silverpine.

((Anywho! Besides that detail, Galeas would be correct. Even the worgen from the Scythe/Arugal summoning would be very new, within the last 10 years or so. No mean-ness intended. :) ))

((thank you all very much, I did not know the alliance between human and NE was so new. If there is any other way a NE might run into a human woman please help me brainstorm. My reasoning for this is...since wow did not allow worgens to choose a base form from humans or Night Elf. I am thus stuck as having to have some sort of human blood in me while maintaining my story line.))

((As for the NE of the pack coming to play in todays time. Here are the certains I have drawn from wow text. The pact was sent to the emerald dream, with magic of the scythe. It appears they are physically within the realm of the emerald dream not just a conscious state. Text also refers to the twisting nether being connected to the emerald dream as well as being connected throughout the universe. And there is a gap of unknown between the worgens being sent to the emerald dream, and Velinde Starsong summoning them later with the scythe of elune. So I have taken some artistic liberties here.))

((also why they are on this planet is in reference to the Mage Ur who rights of the Worgen on a desolate planet warning other mages to not attempt to go seeking the powers of the worgen. here is an caption "The worgen's home is a dark place, a place of nightmare. If that world fosters locations safe from the cursed Worgen, then my research has revealed no such bastions. And if one considers the ferocity and wickedness of the Worgen, it is likely that no such bastions exist"))

((Also Ralaar now known as Alpha Prime appears in Gilneas searching for the scythe from the comic series which I will admit I have only read bits and parts of.))

((story as I understand it 1.) Pack form is practiced but not controllable and Ralaar attacks Malfurion who ends up send him and his pack to the Emerald Dream. 2.) nothing is known but somewhere in this timeline Ur sees the worgen on a dark planet. 3) Velinde Starson uses the Scythe granted to her by Elune to summon the worgen. 4.) There numbers grow and she is forced to flee. 5.) Velindes and the Scythe last known existence in in duskwood told by the thief Jib in his journals. Finding the scythe semi burried in a cave and being hunted by the Dark Riders. ))

((these are the truths in wow text that my story is relying upon thus far.))

((wow timeline talks about the first Worgen at nearly -10,000 years according to wow wiki which is mostly based on the 5 book comic series. Ralaar and his story is based fighting remnant forces from the war of the ancients, and the Cenarion Circle was indirectly created because of the birth of the worgen. Know your lore worgens and the scythe of elune has also been helpful. Plus my wife is a big reader of all the books and she has helped me a bit thoughout the process.))

((As a thought, does anyone know if high elves or half-elves are immune to the worgen curse? I could easily see a high elf adventuring into Gilneas and dallying with a girl there. That might preserve the half-blood story as well as the worgenization, although it would force the story to move up to more recent years.

((Blizz isn't very consistent sometimes, truthfully; I don't think their CDev people talk to one another or have a central "bible" that they consult before writing and publishing things. *shakes fist at CDev* I get headaches trying to figure everything out just on the lore that I'm supposed to know already as a predominantly Lordaeron RPer.

((If it's any consolation, Lunaeis, when I started RPing, I didn't know about the short span of human-kaldorei relations myself. Kyalin was the one to correct me all those years ago. *laughs*))

Very well written and a lot of their information is taken from the wow comics which is my understanding the most recent written lore on worgen. I am supplementing with information I have gathered through the many in game books that talk about the worgen. They explain the book of Ur differently but I kinda like my take on it over their's. As with the worgen there are a lot of gaps to be filled. ))

Lunaeis is captured by the dark riders of deadwind pass who are also searching for the scythe. After escaping he searchs for Velinde and the Scythe but both are lost. The scythe pops up in grizzly hills as well. And its presence is duskwood is huge and a big reason as to why there are so many worgen there now. But currently Lunaeis is searching for the scythe which ultimately leads to Gilneas at some point.))

((Night elves only seemed to turn into worgen via going feral through druidism, and humans only through being infected via bite by the wolf cult/arugal. There have been no known cases of non-humans being cursed the way the player worgen are, so its possibly safe to assume that its likely restricted to humans only, possibly they way the curse was developed being tailor made to them. As such, I would definitely shy away from high elven worgen and the like. A half-elven one is possibly more forgivable as one, especially since as they're not a /true/ player race/race, bliz says very little about them. That, and they have the advantage of looking human enough to pass off as a human model.

..As such! If you're going to make a non-human worgen, a half elf is your best bet. Note, this refers to the union between a high elf and a human. Realistically, there's no way for a human-nelf hybrid to be over 10 or so years of age while also still being alive.

((Wrong, from my understand it was when Ralaar and Belysra first combined the staff of Elune with the Fang of Goldrinn, creating the Scythe of Elune that Night Elfs became the first Worgen a very long time ago, before the Cenraion Circle was created as it was created partly in reaction to the worgen. I think I may Rp it as my mother was the daughter of a bloodsail Buccanear who crash landed abondoned on teladrassil and was raised there. It's far fetched but plausible none the less. Mother being human is only to play into the human model. Meant only to be a blip in the story.))

My statement left out a few details, but was hardly incorrect.

..Anyway that was also a single line of my statement and you seemed to ignore all the rest of it :< And It might be a 'blip in the story' but its a /glaringly antil-lore blip./

It seems the night elven worgen are unable to leave worgen form, potentially, however, according to Fangfire's entry.

"Although he still retains his consciousness and intelligence, unlike Gilnean worgen, he shows no sign of being able to revert back to his night elf form. "

If you want to play a night elven worgen, just.... don't leave worgen form. Nothing forces you to go human force, ever, outside of the starter zone. Its far more acceptable and less playing fast and loose with the lore.

(Not that I expect you to listen, mind you. Your mindset seems to be a bit more "Thanks, but I like my lore better than the established lore better, so I'm going to go with that." )

http://www.wowpedia.org/Druids_of_the_Pack Validates the direction I plan to take my story. And no, anyone observing Ralaar would never see him in his elf form because he feels the worgen form is the only true form. ))

might i recommend this article

http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/05/08/know-your-lore-the-curse-of-the-worgen-and-the-scythe-of-elune/

((Have you read the comic on the Curse of the Worgen yet?))

((And I am really trying to make my lore work with the limitations that are in wow. That being the fact that Human model is the only one available one for the Worgen even though it is quite clear that at least both NE and Human have history with the curse, NE strictly through the scythe of elune and Argul and the humans through either the scythe or some scientific basis. My character and his lore is based on the Night elf worgen. Thus I am attempting to find a way to validate my human model. And staying in worgen contradicts the whole concept of my character as he feels the longer you stay in that form the more you lose of yourself and it is meant for only the most dire of situations. There is no direct evidence that says NE worgen CAN'T transfrom back or at the very least that 100% all of them have the inability most just succumb to the feral side and remain in that form but with a strong enough will and learning to limit their use I would see it as possible to transform in and out.

And my fathers lineage is one the plays into the story line while my mother is simply there to explain my current human appearance. Since my story is already written out many many pages and my mother is wrapped up in a couple paragraphs that is why i referred to it as a blip, something if i can find a way to get past would allow me to continue.))

((Raoul I greatly respect your input and acknowledge that my understanding outside the history of the worgen is weak but I have put about 50 hours researching the worgen history (in game, old and current quest, Out of game literature and in game books and journals) and it has been a great help those who have posted to try and keep to the accuracy of the wow lore as much as possible but is it not impossible to stretch the possibilities of wow lore when they are not very clear in the first place?(in reference to a half elf-half human))

((That being said, would there be absolutely no way possible that a human could have come in contact with a night elf in this time, I think the only way to say it is impossible with all certainty would be if Humans simply didn't exist at the time...then yes I would be hosed. But that being said I would like to use her father as some sort of sailor whose daughter washed up on NE lands after a shipwreck and eventually met my father so I can have a plausible reason to appear as a human, and ultimately get on with my story which I think if given a chance you might really like. I Hope.))

Rather than abate the druids' fury, however, the weapon transformed Ralaar and his followers into worgen: bestial humanoids enslaved by their own primal instincts.[2]"

-From the wowpedia website. It is my understand that ultimately the Worgen curse began in that moment a very long time ago, i think wowpedia dates this nearly 10,000 years ago. There is also a quest in Grizzly hills where argul comes back in spirit form and references the scythe which makes me think that again the scythe has a hidden finger in most worgen outbreaks...another example is how its last known where abouts was in duskwood in a cave referenced by jitters where now we have worgen roaming throughout the zone))

To be honest, I'm not actually disputing anything about the /worgen/ aspect of your story. I forget how that even got brought up. Oh, wait. It was the other races as Worgen thing. I'm mostly talking about the human model as a nelf worgen, though. There /are/ plausible ways they could in theory be a half night elf, if we get down to it, but it still wouldn't explain them looking like a human, to be honest. A half-night elf half-human would appear more as a night elf than a human, which is where the main issue in the model comes from.

And yeah, apparently I mistook the Pack Form for Worgen Form, when they're actually different things, so my bad on that. I admit I don't actually read the comics/what not. I wish they put more of this stuff in game :<

Anyway, I'm not actually arguing against any of your story about the Worgen or druid aspects of it - more just the half nelf thing. You could work out something to be a half-nelf; say the sailor washed ashore thing, for example, although it would be a bit of an extraordinary case. Kal'dorei were very xenophobic, and would have been more inclined to killing a washed up human than curiously tending to it and eventually mating with it. A lone nelf or so could be an exception, sure, but the half-nelf would find themselves as an outcast that had to avoid elven society proper, if they couldn't pass as a night elf.

Which is where the issue sort of crops up, as your fellow will had to have looked more human than night elf to actually explain the model today. A druid of the pack/scythe would be an interesting character to play, for sure, but its not something bliz actually really supports with the in game tools given.

If you're dead set on it, which I can see you are, I can try to offer some suggestions, since even if you go the half-nelf route, it doesn't actually explain the model. (since once again, it'd look more purple elfy than pink skin human, and would have to be to exist in kaldorei culture.)

For one, you could make two separate characters. A night elf version of Lunaeis that you play when he's not in his worgen form, and play the worgen one when he is.

For two, you could also try just using armor that's.... very concealing. Full facial helms, mostly. Hoods that keep his face hidden so you wouldn't actually be able to see.

You could even combine the two some, ie when he /has/ to be unarmored use the elf Lunaeis.

They're not exactly ideal, but its probably the best you can do, to be honest, since there's no real way to justify a night elf looking even remotely human. Their physical forms are just too radically different. If they let us play purple humans sometime, well, that's a difference, but until then, it'd take a lot of blood dilution to make someone with kaldorei ancestry look human. (Maybe 1/8th elven blood, ect.)

((thankfully both of the sets I currently wear do hide it quite well. I feel it is a very Rigid stance to take that a half-elf would have to look a certain kind of way. I mean as a new person to RP I would not have expected that my story would be so highly discouraged on something that simply couldn't be proven and is only theorized. I mean hell are night elfs immune from any possible gene defects? Is it really so impossible that a half-elf could possibly look more human then elf? Can we not make that stretch for the sake of a story line that someone is very passionate about? Or should I totally give up my whole story? I am sorry this is really not what I expected, so far the rp community has been so forth coming to encourage me to develop my character and I have had fun taking a character I have had for nearly 8 years and finally give Life to him.))

((I feel if wow did a better job keeping to lore then they should have allowed people to choose which model they take when not in the worgen form but they didn't and I didn't identify with the Gilnean route, esp seeing as I had played my warrior as a Tauren on the same server all those 8 years and I have yet to make a worgen so I know nothing of the Gilnean starting area. And my very first character I started in 2004 was a Night Elf. When I brought Lunaeis here I was torn whether or not to play the NE or the worgen and so I began researching the lore of both. And as a warrior who has been a fury warrior since I adorned myself in full Mail gear back progressing through Molten Core the concept of Rage that closesly aligned itself with the worgen race seemed appealing and thats when I began this story line. ))

((so for now I will keep a growth potion on and wear armor that hides my features..hopefully that will appease the RP police for now.))

((To be fair, I'm on Horde and I'll never actually probably RP with you, so you can take what I say with a grain of salt. Blizzard doesnt /want/ people to actually play a night elven worgen, hence why, well, they made the Gilneas be turned into them instead. All player worgen are /technically/ supposed to be gilnean. Same with how all the worgen DKs were those experimented on by Arugal, technically. Some exceptions can be made, but some exceptions are a bit too glaring. Bend the rules, don't break them.

As someone said in another topic, WoW doesn't give players many tools to RP. There are no actual DMs for plots or anything - the only DM, the main tool, that we have is the lore. To ignore it muddles things for everyone. So when things crop up that violate the lore too harshly, its the community's job to not encourage the bad behavior, lest people use that to start claiming to be the, for example, immortal former lover of Sylvanas that is half undead and half worgen and is married to a psychic vampire.

You can play however you want, but don't expect everyone else to acknowledge it. If you can get your friends and the people that RP with you the most to accept it, and are willing to accept that some people are going to disregard your character/his story or say he's crazy, then do whatever you want.

A night elven worgen in and of itself doesn't break lore, it merely bends it to play as one. Playing as a part elven worgen merely to explain a model inconsistency /does/ break the lore rather than bend it, and its simply not the route to go. While its obviously not ideal, keep in mind you are bending things, so your best bet is to do that whole armor thing, and make a note in whatever RP addon you use about the fact that, when in non-worgen form, he's actually a kal'dorei. It requires a bit more of a suspension of disbelief than some are comfortable with, but its a better route than trying to fumble with the half-elven thing to explain it away any.

((Feulia is an example of a possible Half Night-elf half Human. Rare and VERY unlikely yes, impossible no.))

1.) The RPG books aren't actually canon. They're... semi-canon. Blizzard actually /de-canonized/ them until some folks didn't care for that, so made them ..semi-canon, in the sense that if its backed up by something in game, it's canon, otherwise take it with a grain of salt. As such, there's no way to know whether she actually exists or not.

2.) It doesn't say half-what. Half-satyr, half-troll, who knows. Half-troll would be more likely than anything.

3.) It also doesn't say when this story happened. It could have been far in the future, for all we know.

In short, the character in question isn't actually canon, but even if she was, it doesn't say half-what. It's more likely she was a half-troll or the like than half-human.
