Inscription vs Jewelcrafting.

I have yet to pick a profession for my little book thief here, but I am at a toss up between these two. It makes a lot of ic sense for my char to be able to write and be a scribe being that she has, uh, gathered a few of Pia's books to learn from. However I am worried about the cost around the northrend level. Assuming you still have to have those stupid books to learn any of the glyphs. Is a scribe all that useful to my class? I don't know what Glyphs I need as an assassin rogue much less how to play the auction house and attempt to sell them. The only other pro to jewelcrafting is the special crafter jewels and what ones you need are fairly evident.

I think in the end JCing is probably more useful all around, but it also depends on your 2nd profession. Have you picked one yet? Would you prefer flower picking or mining? Doing either profession by purchasing the mats will be mildly expensive so I suggest picking up one that can complement the other with.

Personally I say JCing, because I do not find Inscriptions useful in the long run, as you can buy the ones you need off the AH, unless they are changing them in Mists and I haven't read about it yet.

Most of the professions are good for all of the classes. The only ones that are less so are the professions like tailoring, leatherworking, or blacksmithing, but even they have fun items for people who don't wear the right armor type.

JCing is a bigger money-maker, but I find Inscription more fun with the gadgets it has to play with. So it depends on if you're looking for utility, money, or fun.

I want something I can actually use. So I guess JC. I am not getting any prof till I can fly at 60 anyway just so it is easyer to farm the mats.

Iiiiiiiin the long run, until they add some useful stuff to innnnnnnscription, JCing is where to go. It'll help out a bit when gemming yourself and alts. Though when MOP comes around and they supposedly make the shoulder enchants as inscription-made rather than sold by random rep people, it'll be nice.
