The following note is posted in out-of-sight areas in all major cities of both the Horde and Alliance:
Do you remember, brothers and sisters? Do you remember the moment when the vile treachery against us was revealed? As we pressed our assault on the forces of Light's Hope Chapel, the true motives of, and our true worth to, Arthas Menethil were revealed. And under the inspired leadership of Highlord Darion Mograine, and with the good will of Highlord Tirion Fordring, the Knights of the Ebon Blade were born.
We went to our leaders, King Wrynn and the Warchief, and were accepted into the ranks of our living allegiances, so our might could be brought to bear against the horrors shambling forth from Icecrown Citadel, intent on destroying all of Azeroth and rendering it a wasteland barely fit for even the dead to trod.
We witnessed the heroism of the ghost of the mightiest Paladin in the world's history, Uther Lightbringer, as he directed the tenuous alliance between Jaina Proudmoore and Sylvanas Windrunner in a last-ditch attempt to deprive the Lich King of the power of his horrid runeblade, Frostmourne.
And we struck the blow that laid low the Lich King, and carried forth secrets from Icecrown Citadel that to this day remain locked away.
The time has come, Knights of the Ebon Blade, to remember where we came from, as it has brought us to where we're at. This is not about Alliance and Horde, this is about our redemption from evil, and our destruction of its source.
On Thursday, June 28 at 7 hours past noon, we will march from Light's Hope Chapel. Wear the finery you left Acherus with those years ago, the ebon armor that represented the power the Lich King imbued us with. Wear the tabards we earned in Northrend, showing our membership in the Knights of the Ebon Blade.
We will proceed from Light's Hope Chapel through Corrin's Crossing; we will destroy any Scourge remnants who stand in our way, and leave unmolested those who do not attack us.
We will arrive at Uther's Tomb in the Western Plaguelands, and pay our respects to this fallen Paladin who represented a glimmer of hope in our march against the Lich King.
We will then proceed northward to Hearthglen, where we will enter Tirion Fordring's throneroom and pay our respects to this Paladin who helped Highlord Mograine organize and mobilize the Ashen Verdict.
Then we will return, by air and land, to the entrance to Stratholme. On those rotting flagstones, we will show our martial prowess in duels with each other, not to the death, but to its door, and we will salute each other as brothers and sisters: we are the Knights of the Ebon Blade, and we will not fade away.
With Honor and In Shadow,
Gondorin Ragefang
Knight of the Ebon Blade
((OOC stuff: I thought it'd be neat to have a Death Knight-themed RP event. I'm putting it this late in the week to avoid bumping up against earlier-week Alliance and Horde RP events, and to avoid bumping up against Horde raid nights on Friday. This is a full IC RP event, but not a PvP event, so please don't come flagged. This is about being Death Knights and Knights of the Ebon Blade, not about being Alliance and Horde.
If you still have it, put on your "Plaguelands Set", the blue armor we left our opening quests with. If you don't still have it, the models can be purchased by Death Knights in Acherus for transmog purposes. Then, if you still have your Ebon Blade tabard from Wrath, put it on; if you don't, you can acquire one if you're at least Friendly with the Knights of the Ebon Blade faction by going to the Shadow Vault in Northrend, in the Icecrown zone. That's a phased zone, so if you haven't done the quest chains to unlock the Shadow Vault, you may want to. They're kinda fun anyway, and should be a breeze at this point.
We'll march at walking speed from Light's Hope Chapel through Corrin's Crossing to Uther's Tomb, and take a few moments to pay our respects to Uther. Then we'll march north using main roadways to Hearthglen, where we'll enter Tirion's room and pay our respects to him. Then we'll fly and/or ride, depending on individual capability, to the exterior of Stratholme. We'll do dueling there.
For the dueling, please try to only challenge those of similar level, as it's meant to be fun, and everyone's abundantly aware that a raid-geared 85th level Death Knight can handily one-shot a just-out-of-opening-quests level 58 Death Knight. ;)
Please don't flag up; this isn't meant to be a PvP event.
If you're Horde-side and would like to help coordinate this with that faction, get in touch with me; I'd be happy to add you to Real ID if you're comfortable (and if I don't already have you) and we can use that to coordinate the march, and to facilitate some cross-faction RP during the march as well if you like.
Here's hoping to see you on Thursday night at 7:00pm Realm Time!))
