Cross-Posting and Courtesy Of

I've got a query, for all you who use the dotOrg.

I sometimes see events and RP posts listed on the main realm forums here that don't show up on the dotOrg (for the latter I certainly don't blame you, it's annoying to crosspost a lot of text like that).

I was wondering, though, if it would be easier or more convenient if we were to--either automatically or with your permission--take some of those posts and copy them to the dotOrg.

Throwing it out there as a brainstorm. I has a curious.

I would suggest that, if you mean to do this, you definitely get permission before cross-posting, if you can. Some folks may not be interested in trying to maintain a presence on the dotOrg (and while I like the site, I can understand why watching three-plus websites and also being online could be overwhelming for some folks), but would feel they have to if there's a story of theirs on it. You know, fan mail and stuff.

If you were to offer me, for instance, cross-posting services for "Shortchanged", I'd probably thank you but decline; I intend to get it done myself when I can scrounge the time and energy. I also have to cross it to my guild's site, so it'd be just as easy to do both at once.

But yes--*turns to reading audience*--support your local dotOrg! The more places your stories get published, the more folks can enjoy them!

I agree with Galeas, mostly.

While I love the dotOrg and all it's neat little features (I'd love to see a web-browser based hearthstone, as I only use skype these days instead of Trillian), it's somewhat difficult when it seems only half the stories that get posted on one site get posted on another.

It's not a major inconvenience, and it's just the reality of using another site other than the official forums, as superior as it can be in many regards. That said, rather than asking in specific RP threads, I'd suggest simply advertising a bunch for the dotOrg (you guys already seem to do this), and maybe tossing the writer an ingame whisper.
