Humans talk. Humans are animals. Communication is likely the primary foundation of civilization:P

Wait, wait, wait, but what about all those animals who do communicate and that we don't consider to have civilization? Well, okay, I guess we do call them prairie dog "towns", and there have been studies to prove they do in fact, speak with each other in a prairie dog language... And maybe wolf packs can be considered tribal communities (though they are, in fact, family groups, not hierarchical societies)...hmmmm...

So we can talk to the animals, learn their languages, chatter with a chimp in chimpanzee?

There are actually a large amount of animals in WoW that are entirely sapient. Some of them even speak our language, while others don't but still possess that same intelligence.

Quite possibly! Though some of the languages would probably need a computer's aid...can't squeak at the same pitch a bat can, for instance, or hear all the sounds elephants make on the lower end of the sound spectrum.

I would argue every social animal has a "society" of a sort; just not one always recognizable by humans. Ants can apparently communicate fairly complex information through pheromones alone (not a hive mind, contrary to what some people assume about eusocial organisms).

Ants are fascinating. I don't know if any other animal (besides humans) uses agriculture like they do. And a language based on scent rather than sound or sight...that would be something interesting to RP.

"What is that awful smell?"
"Bob! Stop cursing!"
