If this has already been posted somewhere I apologise, I quickly skimmed over the first page and couldn't see anything relevant.

How many guilds out there (horde and alliance) are planning on running 25 man content in lieu of 10 mans in Mists?

As of right now, Warcraftier is the only guild who did 8/8H as a 25M... Does Horde even have any 25Ms left at all? o.O;

You would know better than I would about Horde side Clandestine. ;P But I heard in Alliance Trade chat that Exalted also plans to be running 25-man. I haven't heard anything else. Warcraftier will indeed continue with 25-man raiding in MoP.

Why?

As far as I know the last 25 man horde team was Eternal Sorrow back in T12, and then they broke into a 10 man for DS.

I'm just curious more than anything, when I came back from a 7? month break, most guilds had DS on farm and besides Warcraftier no one was doing 25 mans. Just seein' if it's a continuing trend or if it's the norm now. nawimsayin?

Sadly, it is the norm nowadays, not just on our realm. 25-man raiding guilds comprise of 8% of all of the raiding guilds out there. :[

There is simply 0 advantage of doing 25 mans; with the exception that it is still a much better format for chasing world first due to it being easier to gear funnel. Other than that 25 mans offer no advantage whatsoever.

1) Loot: 25 man encounters in DS drops 2 tokens per boss, while 10 mans drop 1 token per boss. If you look past the short term phenomenon of getting lots of the same tokens in a row for example you will notice that 2/25 < 1/10, so 10 mans get more tokens.

25 mans still distribute the loot better, and especially allow you to gear your star players faster, but in the long run they lose.

2) Organization: it's a lot harder to put together 30 people (usually at least 5 on a bench especially during progression is a must) than say 13 people. That goes without saying.

3) Social aspect: it's a lot harder to be part of the 'core' in a 25 man. It's a lot harder for 25 people to align in their philosophy and skill in terms of raiding (and other aspects of life) and a lot easier for there to be stubborn strong personalities that butt heads with 25+ people, rather than just 10 or so people. This makes 25 mans much more drama prone.

However, 25 mans have the advantage that composition is much less of an issue. Even in this day of severe homogenization, some 10 mans still find it difficult to cover all buffs while maintaining token balance... much easier to do in 25 where by now getting all buffs should be trivial. Also with more players it's a lot easier to avoid class/spec stacking.

While 47% of all raiders are lazy layabouts on welfare epics.

This wasn't intended to be a thread debating the viability of 25 man content and its usefulness in gearing up. The purpose was to see if the 25 man format was still being used on CC.

Sanctuary Garden decided 10 man was a better option as oxygen is limited in instances as they are closed off from the world. We found we were having problems raiders maintaining focus at the end from lack of oxygen, thus forcing us to stack tree druids to combat this problem. And I don't think nor feel it should be mandatory for druids to be stacked just to complete an instance.
