Valentine's Box Social

Men, it's your turn. Plan to make a special box lunch for Feb 9 and join the festivities. Ladies, start saving your money.

On February 9th at 4:00 p.m. we will hold the Valenitne's box social at the covered Argent arena. We will furnish transportation to youngsters, but please try to contact us before the event so people furnishing the rides can enjoy it also.

How a box social works:

We alternate between men and women furnishing the lunches. This time it's the guy's turn.

Men put together a picnic lunch and then give a written description of the "container" the lunch is in to the auctioneer. The person making the lunch keeps all the food until after it is sold then they join the winning bidder and have lunch. If you could send the description ahead of time to Gentyl that would be even better. The auctioneer will auction it off and the lucky lady who wins the lunch gets to have a picnic lunch with the man who donated it.

We're doing a couple of things differently this time.

1. Pia is furnishing pets with each lunch. The prices vary, but there will be no rats or cockroaches in the lunches! I'm not going to give a price minimum because the prices fluctuate so wildly, suffice to say we will try to get nice pets for our lunch donors and buyers. I haven't talked to Oskor about the pets, if we can help donate pets to horde, let me know so we can get them transferred before the auction.

Crowelf (Elvenmoon) has generously offered to donate the Sunstone Panther which regularly sells for 25k on the Alliance Auction house. I believe she is also donating a gorgeous gown to match the mount. Please do plan on supporting her efforts. Last time she donated a chopper and we sincerely appreciate her generosity to help rp.

We've had some tremendous donations from Qctavian of Warcraftier for pets to be donated with the lunches. We'll have some moderate value pets also so everyone gets a chance to participate, but if you are a pet collector, this might be a great opportunity.

I will list the pets to be donated and then the auctioneer will random roll. He or she will then match up the pet by number to the lunch. If it's not an exactly match it will match up closest number. Hopefully, this will assuage any hurt feelings about not being matched up with one of the super pets.

The resulting proceeds will be used to promote rp events, donate care packages to newcomers, those who need help, and support other rp guilds with projects. Pia keeps all the proceeds from fund raisers in a separate account just for this purpose.

FAQ

1. The person furnishing the lunch keeps the lunch items and they are matched with the donor at the conclusion of the auction.

2. Yes, you need to pay for the lunch prior to receiving the item you purchased.

3. Yes, we will get you to the arena and inside it if you give us some advance notice.

4. The maker of the lunch being bid on is kept anonymous. If you want someone in particular to get it you can slip the description to them to make sure they bid on the right lunch.

5. Yes, you can have someone else bid for you if you can't be there.

6. Yes, you can have lunch with the person who made the lunch at another, mutually agreeable time.

I'd like to invite horde in this also if we can. We just need a horde host. It's a good cause. Funds go 100% to fund rp and rp events.

Pia will be donating pets to go with the lunches. We may also have a donated mount.

If someone has an idea of a location that would work for both factions, I'd like to hear them.

The date will be Feb 9th.

2. I have invited horde to participate this time as well, and Oskor has agreed to get the word out. He's not sure if he can physically make the event due to real life, so if some people could offer to assist him that would be awesome. We've hired AAMS to be their auctioneer. All funds raised from the horde sales go directly to Da Doctas to support horde rp.

As decreed by Garrosh Hellscream, Warchief of the mighty Horde. Any Horde members associating with Alliance forces will be marked as a traitor to the Horde. Answering to the Warchief's axe!

( Just sticking to character. Horde members would be killed for mingling with Alliance these days. Not to mention Varian would probably lock up Alliance members for chatting with Horde.)

((This is pretty accurate, so please note that Oskor's involvement with this event is as an OOC coordinator. While he has begun to work with the AAMS again (on occasion), you won't find him so readily helping the Alliance. :P ))

((Cross faction mingling is likely going to be a problem for me as well. But then again, if it's the Argent Arena, it wouldn't be too hard to just ignore the other side, seeing as how the Argent Crusade frowns upon bloodshed occurring in their own tournament.

Well.... that is until they sic bloodthirsty Northrend beasts at you. "Kill or be killed, Champions!"))

((The two factions would not be mingling. We're not furnishing translators so people can visit. It would be like two warring armies who happen upon neutral ground at the same time to buy horses or whatever. Regardless, it was just an offer. Horde can host one at a different time if they wish and that will keep everyone "honest."))

(( I think perhaps, due to the way the factions are warring, if we just had someone from the Horde "happen" to host one ICly, and not have it connected to any Alliance group. While on an OOC basis it's nice to work together, ICly, especially right now, would probably make it problematic.

Which just leaves the question of who to have sponsor it, ICly! ))

((Aye, arot. IC we were not going to be together. It would be, like I said, two warring armies arriving at a neutral location to buy horses or or something. Plus, if horde just wants to do it another time, or never, that would work also. It is a fun event and it does help raise funds to support rp.))

Love was in the air, and various other places it appeared. The Presidium had been flooded with kittens after Faithe was kidnapped and held in Orgrimmar. They had rescued her, but Snow, her kitten, had somehow been left behind. Various friends, known and unknown, had sent kittens to soften her sorrow. The result had been a population explosion of cats.

Pregnant cats, the gift that keeps on giving.

Gentyl gave away as many as she could to loving homes. She gave away so many people started running the other way when they saw her approaching with a cat carrier. It had left only one option. She hired the AAMS, the Anytime Anywhere Messenger Service, to deliver kittens to the horde. She also hired an enchanter so the kittens couldn't be eaten, since that was a very real possibility. So, the enchanted white kittens made their way to the horde and the AAMS wandered around saying, "Hello, would you like a free white kitten?" Eventually word got out and the AAMS couriers had to scream, "I don't have any kittens!" to get close enough to deliver other messages and packages to client.

It wasn't quite that drastic now, but it was time to find homes for some of the pets who were overflowing the stables, coops, ponds and pastures. Hearthglen was rapidly turning into Hearthpen.

It was also time for another box social. This time it was the men's turn. Even though Gentyl was happily married, she would show up for the event and hopefully buy a lunch prepared by some unknown donor. They would have a pleasant lunch and she might acquire a new pet she didn't have before.

When the word got out Pia Presidium was donating pets to be given away with the donated lunches, they were flooded with even more pets to help the event. Some of them were quite nice and she was drooling over the sunstone panther Crowelf had donated and Chromius who had been sent by Qctavian.

If all went well, they would have a nice social event. People would meet new people. Pets would find loving homes and maybe, just maybe, two people would meet, fall in love and live happily ever after. Or, possibly, just fall in like and that was good, too.

It was Saturday at last. The auction was this afternoon at 4 in the Argent arena. The pets had been bathed and groomed. Someone had even managed to give Broodin a bath and the druid was now sulking in the rafters, hissing at everyone who walked by.

New squires had been pressed into service for the pet patrol. Luckily they had not lost any, which was a testament to their fortitude. Pia had a promising crop of knights coming up it seemed.
