((Confused or interested? Bug me in-game before this Saturday))
*A nondescript letter has proliferated itself throughout Alliance cities over the past week. It reads as follows*
I have never been gifted with composition. A person in my position has usually not had to justify her thoughts and her actions in the way that seems mandatory now. I don't believe that complex thoughts and observations are done justice in the written word, so I will make this point plain now. I believe in the mission of the Alliance. I believe that we have much to gain through cooperation between our great nations, within a community of mutual respect, aid, and trade. We are all the better for such an arrangement, so long as that arrangement remains as such.
I write to you though because the Alliance as we know it is in danger. Not from external threats, but from within our own houses and communities.
It will be many years before we achieve victory over the Horde, and it will come at the cost of countless scores of doomed soldiers. It is the nature of this war, because the Horde has bet its existence on the destruction of our own. They do not seek the destruction of nations, but of species, and when their armies are defeated, their citizenry will continue to seek our destruction. Most Alliance soldiers and partisans, myself included, will not live to see our victory. Nations will be weakened, and the aftermath of the war will be one of sorrow and ruin.
As my own country, as well as the human kingdoms of the north have borne the brunt of this war, suffered the most horrific casualties, and accomplished the most for the good of the Alliance, powerful individuals - isolated from the conflict, have looked on from their high perches with hungry eyes. Like vultures, they intend to feast on the remains of this war's combatants, regardless of side.
These are the same people who bankrupted the public treasury in Stormwind, see the war in an entirely different way than the rest of us. Where generals saw the barrens highway as a consistent line of supply between Theramore and Ashenvale, they saw itas a dagger our increasingly softening nation. Where refugees see hope for the rekindling of their former nations, these people see new lands and territories that they themselves can subjugate, and new resources that they can plunder. They see tragedy as opportunity, and are not opposed to sticking their fingers in open wounds if they believe that they can benefit. They see a new war, a silent war, one in which they hope to pit us against each other.
The next war will be hosted by no battlefield, it will demand little blood. Instead, it will be fought in the meeting halls and in the house of nobles. It will be fought with threats and blackmail - extortion aimed at entire nations. It will launch a battle to unseat the power of kings and monarchs themselves, and over the souls of living beings.
This is not the Alliance that so many of us will die for. It is not an Alliance at all. That's why that I call upon average citizens, soldiers, and political figures of every Alliance nation to understand this threat, and resolve now to not let it succeed. We cannot let cannibalistic tendencies consume everything that we've worked for.
