what do you mean by exactly by purple human though?

Purple-Humans are Night Elves who ,for all intents and purposes, are humans. This usually comes with not recognizing that Night Elves have a much different lifestyle and culture than humans do.

my night elf is a rogue and he spends a lot of time in places other than night elf territories

Why? Is he uncomfortable in places that aren't similar to Kaldorei buildings (IE no open space to let air in)? Does he dislike the feeling of cobblestone underneath his feet?

for example he has little interest in Elune because he feels that with the power she has to create peace in the world that she has done jack squat really for all the worshipping of her his people do, and then he feels irritated with the fact that the dragons made a deal with the night elves to give them immortality if the night elves protected nature and had druids spend time in the dream, but now the dragons have taken away that immortality but still expect the same things from the night elves

The dragons didn't take away the immortality, Kaldorei chose to give it up and the dragons did not choose to bless Teldrassil because it's growth was done as a selfish act by, if I remember right, Staghelm. As well, Elune does aid her people by way of her priests.

it's like the night elves have done everything they can to redeem themselves and they have made so many sacrifices but their goddess and other higher beings they worship and serve have not really helped them out all that much

Gods don't always make themselves known. As for dragons they've been more and more active with the Kaldorei in the last year or so.

andnow with his immortality gone and limited remaining time, he is out and about exploring the world and experiencing other cultures

but at the same time if someone were to say something disrespectful about Elune he would still get a little pissed because respecting her has been beaten into his brain for such a long time, and he does get homesick after traveling for a while and ends up needing to go chill in the woods for a bit

so is this a purple human?

Exploring the world is fine, experiencing other cultures is 'odd' for a Kaldorei. The big thing is that you have to understand the cultural norms explained in the OP. If your elf chooses to turn his back on those teachings they still have some play in his life (such as, as you said, Elune worship being drilled into him). Hundreds of years of doing things one way results in very ingrained habits.

In other words don't ignore the culture he comes from, let it influence him, even if he chooses to run from it and try and live with another race.

Great guide! I'm new to kaldorei and trying to get a better feel for their culture.

I'm hoping this hasn't been asked, but I was wondering how literally I should take 'may the stars guide you'. Are there any indications that the night elves believe in astrology or some form of prophesy from the sky? Maybe some form of fate?

Azeroth's largest moon is associated with their patron goddess. I'd take it like someone saying "God bless you.".

Furthermore, while Night Elves revere the heavens as a spiritual matter, we know the Highbourne had astrolabes and according to in-game Lore,

Recovered from the undersea ruins of Suramar, this functional astrolabe was crafted by the highborne night elves nearly twelve thousand years ago. The highborne, obsessed with magic, the occult and astronomy, developed a series of ingenious apparatuses. This device provides invaluable insights into the ancient night elves' level of scientific understanding.

I'd say yes, Night Elves do use astrology as a combined means of religion, prophecy, and prediction. I think of the Oracle of Delphi as a distant comparison.

i understand where youre coming from. but i also kinda disagree with the mentality that a night elf would be badly rped if they did not act like a typical night elf.

I never said poorly RP'd. Poorly RP'd would be that they completely disregard the culture.

like having a problem with cobblestone under their feet. my rogue wears heavy leather boots anyway.

If you've walked on real cobblestone... it doesn't matter how thick your shoes are, you're noticing it.

what im getting at is that my rogue is not a traditional night elf and maybe that makes him strange to some ppl but i dont think hes a purple human

You're equating 'non-traditional' meaning 'purple human'.

A 'non-traditional' Kaldorei still has some of their culture, behavior and history embedded in them. This is a change, remember. This is similar to immigrants, five or six years after being in a different country and many still don't or won't fully convert. You wouldn't except every Kaldorei trope to be defied.

A 'purple human' effectively has -no- tie in to the Kaldorei culture.

So if your Kaldorei likes living in Stormwind... there'd still likely be something he dislikes. He may dislike the cobblestones, the loud noises or he may prefer to be near the harbor, where there is wide open areas. Why? Because that's what he's been used to for a few hundred years.

Think about it like you IRL were suddenly dropped in the middle of France. You may like it there... but there would be difficulties you'd have adjusting and just living there period.

How to roleplay a Night Elf.

Step One: Pick a class that works for you, one that you will enjoy playing and that you are most interested from a Role-Playing perspective. Apply a Night Elf-y name and roll that character.

Step Two: Delete said character, and reroll it as a Dwarf.

Step Three: Profit! (Note the absence of ????. This is because there is no ?, Dwarf=Profit).

An alternate method, for those not wanting to play a Dwarf, is to join the Pirates of Khaz Modan. This guild accepts all races, and while Dwarves are the best, a Night Elf can go from passable to desirable if it is a member of the PoKM.

A true warrior needs not to see his target. His allies should be disciplined enough to stand behind him, and he can charge in flailing wildly until nothing from his enemies stands except for pairs of legs which used to have torsos attached to them.

It's a dwarf, dear lady. You'll have to hit something more vital than its head.
