How is the RP on this server?

I can only speak for Alliance side - we have some weekly events including a player run tavern on Mondays, Fishing excursions on Wednesdays, and Storytelling on Thursdays. There are also random events thrown together that are usually announced in our OOC channels or posted in places like the SoE RP boards at http://www.sistersofelune.org/

Alliance roleplay can be a bit reclusive at times, but open roleplay can be had. I highly suggest making a test character to hang out in Stormwind; feel free to come around on an evening during one of our events to meet some other roleplayers if you'd like.

A Horde roleplayer would be better able to tell you what goes on that side, although making a test character for that faction wouldn't hurt as well.

In the end, roleplay is what you make of it and your mileage may vary :)

Best of luck!

Speaking as a hordeside roleplayer. I wholeheartedly agree with what Nozz said about making a test character. Horde side is there, if you know where to look. Of course there will always be roleplay in Silvermoon, but I think it is drawing away from that and expanding outwards. Last night in particular I was engaged in some really heavy rp out in Sen'jin village.

It seems to me that a lot of people are interested in roleplaying, but sometimes they just get lost in "playing the game." People often ask, is roleplaying better here or there; the answer really is that if you roleplay, they will come. If you devote a good amount of time to roleplaying, you'll find your circles and your friends.

I know that there are events going on, here are there, on both sides of the faction divide.

There is roleplay to be had on both sides. But you're not going to get the same amount of random, walking about roleplay you would on say Wyrmrest Accord. The population here isn't as high. On SoE, it tends to be more event or guild based. But through the events you make friends or become familiar with other people's characters to start up random roleplay (or that's what I do at least). I personally really enjoy the roleplay here and my fellow alliance roleplayers. You should try talking to some members of some RP guilds too, come to an event, etc. Here are some guilds off the top of my head:

Clockwerk
Renewal
Underground Covenant
Righteous Darkness
Felfire Coven

I hope to hear from you in-game!

Hordeside RP is poor and many roleplayers have a clique mentality- if you're not part of it then you don't exist. There are a ton of godmodders and marysues too :(

It is fairly discouraging so I keep to myself and am more of a people watcher when in character.

I am happy to say their is not a lot on the server. I only moved to a RP server because a group of friends opted to come here for a few reasons. RP was not one of them.

Yeah, that guy knows what he's talking about. Roleplay here is pretty lousy on both sides.

Aww. Didn't get the man love you were looking for? Silly blood elves. ;-)

I'm not an RPer but I've read some fantastic posts from Nozz. It seems to be a to be a very encouraging atmosphere when you get to know the people. A few raiders that I've regularly grouped with in the past have nothing but good things to say.

There will always be grievers on any RP server. /ignore and move on if RP is your thing.

As for ERP, I really can't help but grief just a little ;-)

Completely depends on how you rate it.

For example, I sometimes spend my days RUINING RP, just for the sole sake of the fact that some people have made me mad in the past. But that's just sometimes. ;)

Overall, I would say that... the RP on this server is no where near the best. It works though. I RP with some people every once in a while who interest me. Unfortunately, those people are extremely hard to find sometimes.

Maybe it's just sometimes my hate for the server that causes that. XD

Edit - PS, I've been on this server for almost 5 years now. XD I can definitely say that it has considerably improved. I'm not sure that that is saying much, due to the fact that nobody really RP's out of Silvermoon on Horde anymore, which makes me extremely sad (I hate BE's with a passion, I'm sure you've seen me in Trade sometimes ranting. XD).

I wish other people would come and fix that issue but nobody seems to want to leave the city. Until then, if you're planning on RPing Horde side that's basically all you will get. It sucks, its horrible, but on this server that's just how it works. (end edit)

This server has fallen since it's height back in BC days, when it first opened. Mostly, as has been pointed out, cliques have sprung up and people generally only RP with their established friends. So if you're going to RP on SoE, you're going to need a guild with a fair amount of RPers - get you some introductions into these groups.

Open RP is sparse, partly because of clique mentality, and just as much because of griefers (just yesterday my friend and I were harassed because we were RPing by the Smithy in the Dwarf District). You can ignore and report griefers, but the only thing you can do about group dynamics is change human nature; or change the way in which RP servers function.

RP on this server is lame.

To cliquish and smells funny.

And Nozz is a sociopath.

Just for the record.

RP here is dying a slow and painful death. Last i seen of it was a Godmoding lock in ORG beating the dead horse called "RP".

=(

*Remembers a better time when RP is so active on SoE*

Though I would like to edit: Nozz and a FEW others are still around and are down rigth amazing RP'ers. Try it out, if you run into the "Godmoding" / Man-Pig-Bat people just flee, and look else where.

This is an RP server?

I kid, I kid.

But honestly, it's dead. Really, really dead.
