The Forbidding Sea - Off the Coast of The Hinterlands

Rain drops pitter patter softly on the onyx surface of a calm sea. Any moon this place had chose not to bless this night with any hope of light. A chorus of gutteral hisses and moans interrupt the still night air as the first of a bale of sea turtles begin to climb ashore. The beasts snap at one another with sharp beaks and collide, cracking shell upon shell as the herds of dozens begin to emerge endlessly from the lightless ocean depths up onto the grassy shores above.

"Row now! Row!"

"We are almost ashore! I can see the village!"

Wooden paddles slap the water frantically without grace.

"Quickly now! We have but little time before the storm hits shore! We mus- "

CRACK-KABOOM!

The sky splits open, and releases it's fury.

Revantusk Village - The Hinterlands

"HURRY! DIS' WEATHER GONNA' BRING DE' WHOLE VILLAGE TO DE' GROUND!"

A Troll woman, tall and with hair the color of the morning sun shouts out to another woman who was knotting a cord to a wooden beam. The two, along with about a dozen more rush through the village to tie down as many things as could be secured from the winds to come; collecting wooden voodoo relics, folding and storing woven tapestries, and stacking ornamental skulls.

Elder Torntusk looked down into the glowing, fiery orange heart of Revantusk Village from up above, standing on the elavated balcony of Lard's Inn. Even with the gentle rain the bonfire in the center of the village still pulsed a warm hearbeat keeping the village alight, and alive. Down beneath him the villagers called out to one another, hustling to assure their posessions would be safe from the elements regardless of the weather to come.

From above them he could see the whole village, including the path north to the valley high above them, but also out over the endless waters of The Forbidding Sea to the east. It always seemed difficult for him to explain, but since returning from his captivity in Jintha'Alor, the Elder was not the same. In many ways his fire had gone out long ago, but looking out over the sea seemed to calm him. So he remained here above the rush of the village looking out over the endless fathoms of The Forbidding Sea.

CRACK-KABOOM!

A sound as though the world itself has been snapped in two, like a sapling twig by a thundering giant. The flash that followed turned night to day, bringing palms to eyes to shield them from pain. The glow lingered briefly after it's violent eruption, and was rivaled only the earth shattering echo that followed it out of the sea.

Elder Torntusk snarled, quickly lifting his robe draped forearm to cover his face from the unexpected sight and sound!

Immediately footsteps come scrambling up the circular wooden staircase leading from Lard's Inn up to the Elder's platform. "Elder Torntusk! Are you alright?" A mossy-green skinned Troll named Xandru, called out with short-breath as he reached the top step of the staircase leading up to the Elder's platform.

Xandru gasped, "Elder Torntus-!"

The Elder was there, sitting still, peacefully, on the floor of the tall wooden structure.

"Elder Torntusk!"

Xandru pulled off the cloak he was wearing, and ran to the Elder wrapping the cloak around his shoulders.

The Elder did not acknowledge the cloak. But seemed to rock side to side with his head down and eyes closed, as if he were dreaming, or walking with the spirits.

"Elder?" Xandru called out to him again, " Please, answer me!"

At first the Elder whispered inaudibly...

"I cannot hear you..." Xandru leaned his head in closer, hoping to hear the Elder's words more clearly.

The whispers were unintelligable, seemingly random thoughts and phrases, "Shadows... The Dock... Kurks..."

Xandru did not understand him, "What are you saying, Elder? What do you mean?"

Frustrated, he grabbed Elder Torntusk by his shoulders, "Speak to me, speak to me!" Xandru shouted, and shook the old Troll violently!

The Elder's eyes burst open wide with a shockwave, knocking Xandru backward, and glowing with the same powerful glow as the light from sea!

Xandru scrambled back further away from him toward the railing of the upper platform, but he was unable to look away.

"PRIMAL! HAHAHA!"

The voice was sickening, and did not belong to the Elder Torntusk that Xandru had known.

"PRIMAL! HA-HA!" Elder Torntusk cackled!

His brightly glowing eyes seemed to pulse light through his whole body with an haunting other-worldly shimmer. With each laugh the Elder's body began to rise up off the wooden planks that formed the platform which he was sitting upon, like a marionette being lifted by a puppeteer.

The vision's gaze looking deep into Xandru's soul.

"YOU CALL TO ME, PRIMAL? YOU DARE SPEAK TO ME AS AN EQUAL, TROLL?!"

Xandru bowed his head quickly, prostrating himself on the floor, "I am Primalist Xandru. I meant no disrespect to you great spirit! I have dedicated my life to serve the Loa!"

"HA! YOU CALL TO ME SEEKING MY FAVOR, AND HAVE THE HUBRIS TO BELIEVE IT IS SERVITUDE I DESIRE? HAHA! IT IS YOUR BLOOD THAT I DESIRE!" The puppeteer lifts Elder Torntusk's body almost to the thatched roof of the Inn's upper platform.

Xandru began to quake, "I did not call for you great-one! I am here, ashamed to be seen unprepared and unready to honor you!"

"MORE LIES AND DECEIT FROM YOU, FOREST DWELLER!" Elder Torntusk's body shouted, as it glowed and hovered unnaturally above the rain-slick wooden upper deck of Lard's Inn. "IT WOULD BE NO WORRY OF MINE TO ERASE YOU AND YOUR TRIBE FROM THIS WORLD!" The Elder's body turned now to face out over the village below, intent
on destruction.

"Please, no!" Xandru raised his hands up to beg mercy from whatever Loa God had found displeasure in him, and his small forest tribe.

"SILENCE!" The Loa boomed! The force of it's voice sent Elder Torntusk sliding across the platform, and caused Xandru falling back into the railing wooden railing encasing the upper platform.

Elder Torntusk gasped out in pain. Blinking, he shook his head to help steady his vision, he was now damp with cold rain. As his vision steadied he grasped his own skull, his head ached and he did not know why. Looking up he sees Xandru, a young Primalist, looking distraught but sitting still across from him a few feet away.

Xandru noticing the Elder's gaze quietly puts a finger to his own lips, and points out to the ledge that looked out into the village below.

Silent, and crackling with a furious energy stood Hakkar The Soulflayer: The Blood God of the Gurubashi looking out over Revantusk Village.

After a moment, Hakkar spoke, "This is not The Altar of Zul."

Xandru moved to speak to Hakkar, but Elder Torntusk quickly raised a hand to an attempt to stop him from doing so.

"Where is Qiaga the Keeper?" demanded Hakkar, turning to the Trolls.

Elder Torntusk replied quickly, but did not rise to his feet, nor look up at Hakkar, "We do not know, we would never think to decieve one your great power... Please, spare our village."

As Elder Torntusk spoke, Xandru sitting in that moment felt his life was over. For now gathered all around him he saw the Loa which he had pledged countless primal sacrifices, rituals, and endless priase to; Ula-tek the Serpent, Nalorakk the Bear, Akil'zon the Eagle, Jan'alai the Dragonhawk, and Halazzi the Lynx.

So, Xandru stood to face Hakkar on his own two feet.

Elder Torntusk saw him, and tried his best to quickly reach out and grab Xandru's robes and pull him back down to the floor saving his life! But he could not reach him in time, Xandru had risen and taken two paces forward toward The Soulflayer.

"Hakkar! I am Primalist Xandru, of The Revantusk Tribe!" His voice clear, and filled with pride,"Primal Torntusk is not here, and cannot speak for us, so I will!"

Xandru closed his eyes, and called to his Gods, "Hakkar, by power of Nalorakk the Bear in the wild, and honored amongst the Revantusk! I bid you, leave this place!"

Hakkar laughed, watching Xandru strain to muster against power which he was no equal.

Xandru continued to call out, "Halazzi the Lynx, proud and fierce! Protect your humble servants!"

Hakkar's mood shifted and any humor turned to deadly venom, "TRIVIAL SPAWN! YOU WILL ONLY LIVE TO SERVE HAKKAR!"

The avatar of Hakkar shot forth two claw tipped limbs stabbing out at Xandru!

"Akil'Zon the Eagle, pure and free! Fly to us in our time of need!"

Hakkar's claw barbed mandibles descend upon Xandru, but miss! Reflected off some unseen ward surrounding the Troll. Hakkar hisses, and stabs more furiously at the Forest Troll stood at it's feet, "DIE, YOU FOOL, DIE!"

"Jan'alai the mighty Dragonhawk, carry this evil spirit from our home!" shouted Xandru!

"ENOUGH! YOU WORM!" Hakkar recoiled, "I AM HAKKAR THE SOULFLAYER! TAKE THIS VENOM TO YOUR GRAVE!" Hakkar stabbed once more toward Xandru through the shield protecting the mossy Troll, breaking into the magical shell with a mighty crack!

Xandru winces, recoiling back from the blow as the barbed spear of Hakkar claw pulls back from piercing his flesh.

"YOUR LOA ARE ALL LESSER THAN I! FALL TO YOUR KNEES AND PRAISE ME!" The Soulflayer echoes out, shaking the foundation of the structure they all inhabited.

Xandru beared his teeth, jaws clenchech from the pain of his wound, "Ula-Tek the Serpent Goddess! This blood is spilled in your name by The Revantusk Tribe!" Xandru slams a fist into his open wound, causing a scarlet river to flow down his verdant robes and onto the rain drenched wooden deck, pooling at his feet.

The avatar of Hakkar shrieks, and dives with murderous intent at Xandru!

The Troll closes his eyes and braces for the pain to come, but it never does.

The sound of the rain fades slowly. With only water droplets that had clung onto overhangs, ledges, leaves, and branches falling now onto the soft dirt of the courtyard, stony ruins, and wooden dock out by
the sea.

Soon the upper platform of Lard's Inn was swarmed by a mob of Revantusk Watchers, soldiers, and villagers who rushed in as soon as they could to see what had happened and who might still alive.

When morning came Elder Torntusk called the village into the center of town, descended the steps of Lard's
Inn, to speak to the gathered crowd.

"For years we have waited patiently, and peacefully to defend ourselves from danger. But we cannot wait any longer, Primal Torntusk, our Leader has pushed our outer defense to Jintha'alor hoping to rebuff the Vilebranch. Our General Gan'dranda, fights for his life to the North in the ruins of Shaol'watha against the Wildhammer Dwarves. Now within our own walls we have been forced to fight. We..." His voice trails off for a moment, and his eyes look out east to the sea. "We must be stronger now, we cannot allow ourselves to fall into the sea. And without the proper guidance, we just might."

The Trolls surrounding the campfire were all looking up at Elder Torntusk with an assortment of sadness, fear, hope, and trust. For many generations herethey all knew who to look up to for protection, food, and shelter. After last night some seemed to question what they had always understood to be the truth.

The Elder continued, "But I do not mean to allow that to happen!" Elder Torntusk looked down to his right, at a mossy colored Troll with a blood stained patch on his shoulder. "Xandru. Get up here now, boy."

Elder Torntusk extended a hand to help pull Xandru up onto the raised seat the Elder had been standing upon. "This Troll here, has the strength to lead you, and keep you safe. Give him your trust, and your respect and you will all no doubt have the Loa there to protect you. This, I now know to be true..."

The Elder trailed off, and the crowd remained as silent as Xandru. Watching as he helped Elder Torntusk down off the bench and walked with him through the town back toward the path leading to Lard's Inn. Xandru watched the Elder disappear into the Inn, then turned to face the crowd feeling their eyes searching his back for answers.

Xandru exhaled slowly, and approached the bonfire. The onlookers parted to let him pass, and watched as he took the Elder's place on the bench near the town center. He looked deep into the eyes of those who he could see, Revantusk Watchers, Witch Doctors, Berserkers, Villagers, and even young ones perched on their parent's shoulders. The central bonfire soaked them all in a warm, and comforting orange glow against the cold morning light of dawn.

"I am Primalist Xandru, of The Revantusk Tribe! I ask you now to stand, and fight alongside me!" He lifted his bloodied right arm to hold a blood stained fist in the air.

High up above them all from the overlook platform of Lard's Inn, a call radiated out over the whole tribe...

"AMANI WARCRY!"

Xandru grinned, for he knew that now they would. He points across the courtyard up to the Revantusk Drummers who then sounded the mighty gong! And howled in chorus with all of those gathered around him their reply...

"FOR THE ANAMI!"

************************************************************************************************************

<The Revantusk Tribe> is a [RP-PvP-Raid] guild on Wyrmrest Accord.

I'm new to this realm, but I would like to bring the passion I have for this game, this world, and this community here to Wyrmrest Accord.

I have been recruiting for over a week now, and would like this to serve as our introduction to this realm.

We officially claim Revantusk Village in The Hinterlands as our base of operations.

Please comment with your thoughts, both about us as a guild, or how you feel about my writing >.>

Both are welcome!

Please contact us in-game if you'd like to join our guild!

All you need is interest, and a Troll character :)

Cheers!

When I first heard about this guild, I was a free 2 play. I joined up literally minutes after subscribing, and I have not regretted a moment of it. Can I get some props for sounding like an infomercial?

Is being a forest troll a requirement?

Being a Revantusk Troll by birth isn't necessary to join. I felt it would be unreasonable to expect players to change their current backstories to fit in with the guild. If you have a Troll character, and you feel like they would be comfortable living with / representing the Revantusk Trolls, then that's all I expect from our members... I tend to think of it more like the "French foreign legion".
