who wants mounts again!!! 4.1 will have ZA and ZG back as 5 man heroics, minimum gear score 346 needed to enter, but it drops epics, who's excited!?
ZOMG ZG and ZA back in action?!
I am inordinately pleased that blizzard is proving they are committed to a progression path that parallels raids, but is accessible to "us scrubs". Having the mounts come back, and one of them being a PANTHER no less, is just pure gravy.
a cow, riding a panther, insanity insues.
I'm pretty sure I just wet myself...
...yup, I did!
I had given up all hopes of my big fluffy butt riding a proud orange tiger, my hooves gently caressing the beast of burden.
I will be living there until that fantasy is a reality.
And Yes, Plainseybeans.. you and I will be side by side prancing around town like our dung don't noisomeness! Ahh.. the joy of that day.. Two proud Shu'halo Ishnu's in rapture... *long drawn out sigh*
Insanity insues is quite the understatement.

Well, it would be better if you gave your hopes up, since they aren't bringing back the tiger. They are bringing in a panther instead, as well as an armored raptor rather than the normal one.
So ha, you get no tiger! ;)
As far as ZG and ZA being back in action, and turned into 5-man heroics (like Deadmines/Shadowfang Keep) with newer storylines, while also upping the content level at this point in time is very good planning.
I'm also happy they are going to be epic level gear along with it, since technically ZG and ZA did give epics (though ZG actually gave blues more than it gave epics), so just making it all drop blue gear would seem weird to me.
I am halfway expecting now, that Molten Core is gonna be re-released though, and that would be weird. But we'll be needing to kill Ragnaros, so maybe it will be okay to have an instance that LOOKS like Molten Core in design, but just not in layout.
Who would be Ragnaros' lieutenants though? The elemental ones are already playing parts in Hyjal right now, and the salamanders are dead.

I'm glad it's half-tier (353) and not full fledged 359. It'll make it easier than it is to obtain 359, which is fairly easy, but not give it away like candy.

Molten Core is not being re-released.
We will be using the portal at the base of Sulfuron Spire in Hyjal to go directly into the Elemental Plane of Fire and battle Ragnaros on his own home turf.
This also explains (lore-wise) why he's going to be significantly stronger than in Molten Core: In Molten Core, he was "barely into the world". Now he'll be in his element.
He also has feet there.

Raggy needs at least two other elemental lords to vote yes on the kick, otherwise it'll fail.
And everyone knows, elemental lords don't agree on ANYTHING.
I don't see why. Everyone knew Ragnaros would be back; it was simply a question of when they would do it.
Edit-- Also, way to get my hopes up and crush them in the same thread. Was pretty much in ZG at least twice a week in vanilla, and I've been going back since for the tiger. WotLK was great because I could solo for the tiger and raptor mount.. still no luck.

You're an obvious nitwit troll, but I'm gonna bite anyway, because maybe it'll shine some light on things.02/24/2011 5:48 PMPosted by FripAre roleplayers seriously not upset about the recycling of old lore? I would think that roleplayers would want to explore all the unused lore known in the Warcraft saga.
No, we're not upset about the re-use, because while yes, we geek out all kinds of ways about new lore unexplored areas, we geek out just as much about expanded lore, continued stories, and the return of old favorites in new ways (example: the awesomeness of Shadowfang Keep and Deadmines. While I LOATHE SFK as an instance, the lore of it now is ridiculously cool.....). If the new troll rewrites nd lore expansions are as good as the other two "modifed" old instances, then we're golden. If they're just rehashes with no expanded story though, I expect you'll see RP players hollering just as loudly as anyone else. It's too soon to tell yet though.
No reason to get our knickers in a twist right now either way.
EDIT: also, COW ON PANTHER! COW ON PANTHER! COW ON PANTHER!

I was really just asking a question, I didn't mean to offend you. I just wanted to see if roleplayers genuinely liked older thing being reused. Personally I don't, even if the old lore is expanded upon because I prefer new and uncharted stories. If people disagree with this, that's fine. I just wanted to see other's opinions. No intention of trying to be a troll.
Deadmines:
All I know is that when Deadmines was re-released as a heroic instance, the first thing I thought was "Really? Didn't we kill Van Cleef years ago? Didn't we kind of destroy his whole thing?" And when I did the instance itself, I was thinking "Vanessa Van Cleef? What the hell is this?" but then I ended up going through all the quests in the Eastern Kingdoms, went through Westfall, and got through the story involving Deadmines, and I almost wanted to cry a little bit, even though the story was a bit cliche.
Her dad is this super bad guy, and he happens to die on the boat and only after the heroes leave, does she come out and say the "Daddy?" thing. I mean they could have also had her catch her dad doing evil deeds before he died, and she could have turned The Brotherhood into a force for good as well, but then other people would be going "Wha?"
You can't please everybody. But when you re-use stuff, you better have a damn good reason for it.
Ragnaros:
It's because we still use rules from D&D (and wherever their idea first came from) in that when you can only kill an elemental or demon/devil on it's native plane, otherwise you are just banishing it from the one that you killed it on.
The people who are not aware of this kind of thing however are the ones who will be thinking "But we killed him 5 years ago!". Those of us who understand lore however completely acknowledge why this is entirely plausible.
Nefarian/Onyxia:
Even though you didn't say it, I know many people think about it with Onyxia and how she was re-released during Wrath. People need to suspend disbelief there and just go with it. The reason she was re-released for Wrath is only because it was basically an anniversary present to people who missed raiding Onyxia's Lair. That's the only reason. They didn't change any storyline, and they didn't even create a storyline leading to it. It was more like an Easter Egg for people to experience again. So with Cataclysm, it is really more about both of them being re-used in a new way.
Deathwing is kind of one of the biggest bad guys we have in WarCraft lore. He is an Dragon Aspect. He isn't just a dragon. If he wants to summon Ragnaros back, he is powerful enough to do it. If he wants to resurrect his own children, he is powerful enough to do it. And with the Lich King being dead, there won't be any kind of Scourge influence on them either. Hell, Deathwing could destroy the Lich King a thousand times over. Frostmourne doesn't have the kind of power to take down Neltharion.
ZG/ZA:
When the Sunken Temple (Temple of Atal'Hakkar) was first out, we got to experience the God Hakkar in a way. And then when ZG was released, and the big bad guy from there was the God Hakkar, it was something being "re-used", and nobody had a problem with it. Of course he was in a different form, and he had epics associated with him. You got 5 Troll Priests summoning their god. We killed the Priests, and took out Hakkar in a weakened state (just like Ragnaros). It isn't entirely illogical to believe that new Troll Priests could do the same thing, but it seems that Blizzard wants to go another way with it and not just do the same old thing. That is good. Same seems to go with ZA.
Now will they use the same exact layout for both of these instances, or will they happen to build new roads and demolish old roads through the zones so it feels somewhat different? We'll have to wait and see.

Ragnaros:
Ex. We banished Ragnaros five years ago but now he's back from the Elemental Plane. Does this mean five years later we will have to do it again?
Personally, elementals I can see justified.
It's because we still use rules from D&D (and wherever their idea first came from) in that when you can only kill an elemental or demon/devil on it's native plane, otherwise you are just banishing it from the one that you killed it on.

Nefarian/Onyxia:
And that It's the NPCs like Nefarian (less so Onyxia) that I kinda go: "Wha?". Because if everything will just be resurrected into undeath...than what is the point of killing it in the first place? It belittles the significance of the battle...so to speak.
Even though you didn't say it, I know many people think about it with Onyxia and how she was re-released during Wrath. People need to suspend disbelief there and just go with it. From what I understand, Zul'Gurub has largely the same set-up but some areas/wings are now closed off/inaccessible because they're not being used. The bosses have been revamped and in many cases replaced, and the storyline has been updated to reflect Hakkar's defeat in classic WoW. Zul'Aman, however, is seemingly only going to be re-tuned into a level 85 heroic 5-man with some updated graphics and mechanics, which seems a pity in some regards because Zul'Aman could definitely use an improved storyline in my opinion (Zul'jin deserved better!). Still, Blizzard could still surprise us with Zul'Aman, and I'm definitely looking forward to the chance to venture into Zul'Gurub version 2.0. It was one of my favorite raids back in classic WoW.
Oh, and WoW Insider has a preliminary write-up available now.

I'm not upset, but I am tired of troll dungeons. Why isn't there a tauren-based dungeon yet? Why can't Blizz rehash some of the better BC instances instead of ZG/ZA? Hell why can't we break Karazhan into a multi-story 5 man heroic? Who wouldn't want to go back there and run around as little red riding hood again? :/02/24/2011 5:48 PMPosted by FripAre roleplayers seriously not upset about the recycling of old lore? I completely agree Ming, I think Karazhan was a lot of fun, I liked BWL as an instance, I think there should be more "world bosses" aka, world dragons, kazzak etc, and yea, I have never been a true fan of troll dungeons, they all seem the same to me. I'd like to see more dungeons, perhaps with worgens, maybe evil gnomes, i dunno, something creative. I like the new dungeons they made with Cata, but find myself actually being drawn towards Shadowfang and Deadmines the most.
