I think it's worth mentioning that there are a few exceptions to the rule: Not every Night Elf is going to pray to Elune. There are a few Night Elves (mostly male) who have joined the Argent Crusade and have presumably adopted some beliefs of the cult of the Holy Light. There may also be some atheist Night Elves who don't believe in the gods. As long as you can justify your character's beliefs, you can do a lot more than RP a "cookie-cutter" Night Elf, but it does require a basic understanding of what a typical Kaldorei would believe.

You don't have to believe the in The Light to join the Argent Crusade.

There is no such thing as an atheist in WoW, where Gods actually exist and interact with the mortal races and holy magic is drawn upon.

I'm not arguing your points about Night Elves in any way here. But those are two points that aren't 100% accurate.

no she is right i was reading the whole of wow lore when i was sick and it said that a group of highborne left on rafts after the first sundering and made it to the eastern kingdoms where the leader named himself sunstrider (he who walks the day) and their skin and hair changed colour, but the group that stayed grow restless after a while and were sent away when they didnt stop practising arcane magic

anyways like i said before thanks for the interesting read. im a former DnD player and loved the exended race info you could get in the supplementals.

I'm not trying to condone half Night Elf banshee/half-Nether Dragon hybrids or other "impossible" beings, I'm just saying that there's room in the lore for some deviation as long as it's logical. There are Night Elves among the Twilight's Hammer. It's inevitable that a few members of any society are going to have alternative beliefs. So can I accept a Night Elf who doesn't believe in Elune because no one has seen her in the past 10, 000 years, or a Night Elf who accepts magi because of his stay in Dalaran.

Nor was I fighting you on your point about Night Elves.

The issue is, as always with Night Elves, their xenophobia. Understanding that allows you to understand how progressive or traditional your Night Elf is.
